  1. i have a similar sore spot and it is on my left side by my rib cage. I have no external bruising. the weird thing is it comes and goes. sometimes so painful i can barely move my arm and others i dont even notice it. my surgeon thinks it was a way i was positioned on the table during surgery. i feel like something was bruised. i will continue to montior it and if it doesnt get better they need to investigate!
  2. from what i understand the first month after surgery is about healing and not weight loss. So probably wont see anything till after your first fill. i say this now and i'll be the one crying in a week cuz i havent lost! LOL! i'm only 8 days post op! LOL
  3. thanks girl, wow. i hope my weight loss continues. i'm afraid that now that i'm eating real food(even though its mushies) my body will start holding on to it and i wont loose!
  4. i hope someone can give us some insight on this cuz i fear that very thing. i was banded on the 20th, lost 15 pounds since may 6th and my fear is that my body is so used to liquids only that introducing foods will cause it to hold on to it, even if it's healthy food.
  5. Hello I was self pay and I live in Illinois. My process was pretty quick. Meet with surgeon april6th. pre-op testing may 6th. started pre-op liquid diet may 9th. surgery may 20th! i'm one week post op now. as a self pay i didnt have to talk to a psychiatrist or do a 6 month diet, only 2 week to shrink my liver. Best wishes on your journey!
  6. one slip up shouldnt hurt you...but try to stick to the diet..your almost there!
  7. thanks for the info. i'm going to try the ricotta thing this weekend!
  8. i started mushies today and considered baby food, but so far i've ruled it out. gonna stick to the basics of mashed potatoes, tuna, refried beans, pudding, yogurt. i'm just starting to have an appetite, although it is small. i spoke with the dietician today and it appears that once i start introducing more food, my appetite will increase! ugh!!! i am totally ok with not having an appetite and losing 15 pounds in 3 weeks, but i know that's not realistic. oh well a girl can dream cant she! LOL
  9. thanks everyone for your responses. it's appearing to subside a little now, but i dont wanna say it outloud for fear it will hear me and return with a vengence! LOL
  10. omg that is so wonderful!!!!! i cant wait to get to this point! you made my day hun!
  11. wow 75 pounds in 13 months!!! that's amazing!!! i wanna be like you when i grow up! LOL! You're doing great. When i need support I always come here cuz everyone is sooooo understanding. Be reassured that you made the right choice and are doing great!!!
  12. I cant believe it's been one whole week since I've been banded. I returned to work on Thursday and it wasnt that bad. My doc says i'm doing fine. I've lost 15 pounds since May6th(the day of my pre-op testing). I'm really proud of that. I started mushes/pureed foods today. I cant explain how excited i was to have scrambled eggs for breakfast! LOL! I go back in 3 weeks for my first fill. i explained how fearful i was of the fill and he reassured me i wont feel it cuz he will numb the area. I'm so pissed cuz i forgot to ask about my hernia, where is was and how large was it and most importantly will i get another bill!!!!! LOL! Well hope everyon has a great weekend. i have to work but i'm off on monday!
  13. my surgery center made sure someone was with me. I would call ahead just to be clear. I wouldnt want anything to hender your surgery. I didnt feel up to leaving the house until day 4. so that may be a bit soon, but everyone tolerates things differently. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!
  14. i think i fear the fills more than the surgery. wish i could be put to sleep for that part! LOL!
  15. your pre-op sounds just like mine! be strong hun...it is soooo worth it in the end! just keep focused on the end goal.
  16. YEAH WELCOME TO BANDLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. wow your recovery has been great! i have been cursed with the gas stuck in my left shoulder! ugh!!! pain in my abs has gotten better over the past few days. it no longer takes me 5 minutes to get out of bed!!LOL! I didnt have a BM the first 4 days. i finally drank a little prune juice and i have been fine since then. I get to start eating mushes tomorrow! i have been eyeballing that tuna and refried beans for 2 days! LOL! Glad your recovery is going well!
  18. i was banded last friday and a few pointers i would give would be. 1. make sure someone stays with you at least the first 2 nights(it was hard to get in/out of bed.) 2. make sure you have all your post op diet foods at least for the first week. 3. be prepared to sleep upright for at least 2 days 4. think before you sit in something if you will have to use your abs to get up cuz trust me it will be painful. Hope this helps. Best wishes on your new journey!
  19. when i was in a relationship and had this problem my boyfriend would do the exact same thing. unfortunalty i'm single so no one here to baby me! awwwwwwww
  20. surgery on friday. stayed in/out of bed fri and sat. sunday moved more around the house. walked around outside on monday. and was driving and going to the movies by tues/wed. back to work on thurs.
  21. I was banded on May 20th and my recovery was ok. The one thing that is still quite painful is the pain that gets trapped in the left shoulder. How long have others had to deal with this! It is very uncomfortable and can be quite painful. I have been walking and chewing gas x like no body's business. I did notice yesterday when i hardly ate it ws much worse! How long have you guys had to deal with this? I tried a heating pad and it wasnt much help either!
  22. i didnt really eat today and boy did i pay for it. the gas in my left shoulder was ridiculous and as soon as i ate some soup it went away! go figure! i wont be doing that again.
  23. i cant answer the PB'ing question yet since i'm only 5 days post-op, sorry. But I choose the lap band because it was lest drastic. I dont like all the side effects and things that come with the bypass. Plus i wanted to loose weight at a more natural pace and not drop weight so quickly which to me is unhealthy and shockes your body. Just my two cents!

YEAH!!! I'm soooo excited for you. I remember that i got to pick my date since i was self pay and it was crazy! I'm so jealous, my surgeon is one of the stricter ones and mmy pre-op diet was liquids including protein shakes, broth, cream soups, SF jello, popsciles and fudgciles(sp?) I lost 11 pounds on that and gained 4 on the day of surgery! i was about to have a heart attack till they told me it was from all the fluids they pumped in me and the gas during surgery. The worst part of recovery has been that damn gas!!!!OMG it gets trapped in my left shoulder and it's very painful, and of course the port soreness, but other than that my recovery has been great. I'm going back to work tomorrow, only cuz i cant afford to be off another day. I'm hoping i'll be fine, but my supervisor is pretty understanding and i know if i need to leave she'll let me. Best wishes as you start your journey. Oh yeah the shakes. i use six star(from walmart) i usually throw half a banana in mine or a spoon of peanut butter.
