  1. Hi and welcome to the January Bandsters! I was banded on 1/30. Hope you are feeling well. Your weight loss is GREAT! I haven't gotten on the scale yet- next Wednesday for sure when I see the nutritionist. Keep us posted on your progress. Gigi:)
  2. Hi Tracy- I've been following your posts. I am anxiously awaiting to hear from you. I am soooooooooo hoping that you get a date for February. I have my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for you. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!Gigi:)
  3. Tina, Hi and welcome! I was banded 9 days ago and am doing great! So far, I have no regrets. I am on full liquids and doing very well.I am not hungry yet and as a matter of fact, I get very full from my liquids. I have not weighed myself since 1/30, at that time I was down 16lbs from following my 2 week pre-op diet. I have to see my nutritionist on 2/14, so I know that I will get weighed then. I also see my surgeon on 2/15. I hope to be able to go back to the gym soon. Best of luck to you- I'm sure you'll do great-Gigi
  4. HI! I am also 1 week post surgery and have little desire to drink. I am still on liquids. Today I added soup and mixed my protein shakes with skim milk instead of water. I was only able to have 1/2 cup of the shake and I felt very full. Tou need to drink your fluids-especially with your cold. I feel the need to burp almost every time I drink-not sure if it is excess gas left over from surgery or the antibiotic that I am on for the next week. I think it makes me a little sick to my stomach. I sure do hope you are feeling better soon- Take care-Gigi:)
  5. Sheila, your weight loss is inspiring! You are doing awesome! I am 1 week post banding and I feel good. Every day I'm feeling better and better. I haven't gotten on the scale yet. Congrats to you!-Gigi:)

  7. Hello and welcome to LBT! The shoulder pain is gas that settles in the shoulder. Some get it and some don't. I didn't have the shoulder pain, but I did have gas pains in my abdomen and chest. A heating pad and gasx helped as well as getting up and walking. Best of luck to you-Gigi:)
  8. Hi and welcome to LBT! Congrats on your upcoming surgery! Gigi:)
  9. Hi Julie! Welcome to LBT! Congrats on your band! I was banded on the 30th of Jan, just a day after you. How are you feeling? This is a great place for support and comments or questions. I just wanted to say "welcome" Gigi
  10. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I was just banded a week ago. I also had to follow a pre-op diet. It was hard, but I was so ready and I did lose about 16lbs in the 2 weeks. I haven't weighed in since the morning of my surgery. Best of luck to you! Keep us posted-Gigi:)
  11. Hi and congrats on your upcoming banding! I was just banded 1 week ago. I am also a nurse. I think it makes it all the harder because we know what exactly happens. I am sure that everything will be fine. Best of luck to you!! Feel free to ask me (or anyone) anything you need to help alleviate your nervousness. I'll be thinking about you- Gigi:)
  12. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I am a neighbor-from RI. I was banded on 1/30/07 and am doing well. If you have any questions feel free to PM me or e-mail me. Best of luck to you-Gigi:)
  13. Hi and congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I am 1 week post-band and am feeling better. It was tough at first, mainly because of the gas pains( a heating pad and gasx really helped). I am not hungry at all as of yet. The surgery itself was fine. I am sure that you will do well. Keep us posted. All my best-Gigi:)
  14. I am 6 days post band and I am glad I did this instead of the bypass. While I was in the hospital(for my overnight stay),my roomate has the bypass 18 months ago. She lost 140lbs in 8 months and was doing well until she started with abdominal pains. Over the past 10 months she has had major complications with the bypass surgery-including leakage into her bowel and many abdominal infections. After talking to her, I knew that I made the right decision with the band. Gigi
  15. Welcome to the forum and Congrats on getting banded! How are you both doing? Best of luck to you both. This site is AWESOME-filled with tons of information and support. Gigi
  16. Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery! I was just banded on 1/30/07. I am finally starting to feel like myself again. I had a tough time with gas pains in my chest and abdomen. The heating pad really helped me the most, as well as gasx. I also suggest getting up and moving around- that helps to move the gas.(I still use the heating pad.).Anyway, good luck tomorrow- let us know how you do- Gigi
  17. Hi and welcome! I am not from Michigan, but wanted to say a quick hello. Best of luck to you on your journey! Gigi:)
  18. Hi! I would try to stay off the scales if I were you. The weight gain that you are experiencing is probably due to fluid imbalance/redistribution. My doctor said not to pay attention to the scale until after you get a fill. He said that your body needs a good 6 weeks to heal itself. It sounds like you are doing well. I am only 6 days post-band. I am so tempted to get on the scale, but at the same time kind of afraid. I lost 16lbs on the pre-surgery diet. I hope I've lost more despite of what my MD says about the 1st 6 weeks being a time for healing and not weight loss. Best of luck to you-Gigi:)
  19. Welcome to this site! All I can say is that this is an awesome site-full of informative, caring, knowledgeable, and supportive people. Congrats to you on your decision to have the band. I was newly banded on 1/30/07. I started my research in August, attended a seminar in September, completed all my necessary appointments, tests, and procedures, and saw my surgeon in November. I was missing2 consults which had been completed;however never faxed to the doctor. I straightened all that out, then it was X-mas. I got my call right after New Years and had my surgery on the 30th of Jan. Best of luck to you. Gigi:)
  20. Good Morning everyone! Just wanted to check in! I am 5 days post banding and feel good overall. I am still a little sore at my 5 stab wound sites. I am doing better getting my fluids and protein in. I find that I still have alot of gas. I am able to get rid of it from both ends. I am wondering if this is from the antibiotic that I am on-Keflex 500mg 4x/day. Anyway, I hope this passes. Have a great day-Gigi
  21. Hi Shesha! Glad to hear you are doing well. I am on post-op day 5 and was wondering when I could go back to the gym. I forgot to ask my doctor in the hospital. I don't know if I could go back just yet. I guess I'll have to see how I feel.-Gigi:)
  22. HI! Welcome to LBT. You have come to the right place for information, support, and guidance. Read, Read, Read. I had my 1st consult in November after attending a seminar in September. I was banded 1/30/07. Best of luck to you-Gigi
  23. Prebander- That poem really hit home. That was so touching! Best of luck to you on your journey! I was banded 5 days ago. Feel free to ask me or any of the other members anything. This site is full of lots of information and supportive people. Please keep us updated-Gigi
  24. Hi and congrats on your great weight loss:clap2: That is wonderful. I lost about 17lbs on my pre-op diet. I had my band on the 30th and I haven't gotten on the scale yet. I am tempted, but I can't just yet. I have really enjoyed reading all of your posts. Have a great weekend-Gigi:)
  25. Hi Tracy- I am so glad that you posted. I've been thinking about you. I am praying that you get your date soon. I know that it will be sometime this month. I have so much enjoyed your posts. As for me, I was banded on 1/30 and am doing better. I had a tough 2nd day with gas pains in my chest and abdomen. The heating pad really helped as did the gasx. Now,4 days post-band, I feel pretty good. My husband is away from today til Tues. I don't know what I am going to do without him. He has been so helpful with my 4 kids. Anyway, I am sure that I'll manage. Have a great weekend. I'll be waiting to hear from you- Hugs-Gigi:)
