Naysayers! Blah....
When I went to my psych eval, the Dr asked if my family was excited for me? My response was no. They are supportive and know this is what I want to do. I told the Dr that I had a website where people are excited. Thanks VST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pre surgery
Hello Deb. Me too! I have UHC and am getting a little closer on meeting my the requirements. I have one more physician supervised weight loss session and 2 more months of support group meetings. Psych eval was 1/7/11 and since they didn't lock me up, I am hopeful that everything there will be fine. Did you have to do 6 months of support groups too?

Another sleep study tomorrow night!! Ugh.
Let me start by explaining it takes me a long time to get to sleep normally, but I had a hard time getting used to the CPAP machine. The noise and the airflow kept me from settling in to sleep. My father and my brother in law love theirs and would not even try to nap without it. I hope you fall into the love it category!!!!!!

Your emotions are very NORMAL! I can't imagine going into any surgery without being nervous. There are so many uncertainties. I believe knowledge always helps quiet my nerves. So keep researching and asking questions.

RNY to VSG in operating room
I can't imagine the emotions you were feeling after that news was broken! How are you feeling about your surgery now? Do you agree with the doctor's and your daughter's decision? Are you still processing? I am not sleeved yet, but will get it as soon as I finish the insurance requirements. My case worker asked what was my second choice and I told her sleeve only for me -nothing else.

pneal -I am sorry that you did not feel the welcoming embrace that is provided here in VST. I hope you continue to read posts and ask questions. I have gotten so much information from the other members. I have read a lot of very supportive replies from others who understand/remember because they have been there.

Hello, everyone!
I was trying to decide if I was going to tell my parents or keep it a secret from them. My sister had bypass done a few years ago and she met with opposition pre surgery and lots of complications after her surgery (I told you so's insued). Well, I told my parents at Thanksgiving and they were supportive after I provided a lot of information and the research on my surgeon. They said they thought it was the right decision for me and wished they were candidates for the surgery too. I was surprised at their reaction!!!!!! I think it is because this surgery makes sense to most people who know about it.
