  1. Very sorry to hear this news. Take care of yourself.
  2. Best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
  3. AWESOME! You look terrific! I'm sure you feel better too. Great work!
  4. LOL - Sounds like you are about on par with what the rest of us experienced right before surgery. You have a right to be excited - your life is going to change for the better. Congrats!
  5. Best of luck ... hope you are able to resolve the internet issue.
  6. You have to be so proud. You look great. Sounds like you are on track and know what to do to get that last little bit off. Congratulations!
  7. I know it's hard having so many differing opinions thrown at you. I don't think it needs to be all "safe" foods, but some you need to avoid while you are healing. I was told no raw veggies, chicken and beef (unless very moist with a sauce), and popcorn until I was at least 3 months. From what I've read from others that is typical advice from mosts docs/nuts. This does not appear to be an issue for you with fullness, I was told to avoid most lettuce (spinach was ok) pretty much always since there is so little nutrition and it can fill you up too quickly. If we can help at all, just say the word. We do care!
  8. Jillian - I am really worried about you. You had your surgery less than 2 months ago, right? You were a very lightweight (30 pounds to lose I think is what you said). You are already at a healthy weight which is great. However, you should not be eating lettuce and some of the foods you listed until 3 months out or more. Since you are also asking about liquids & timing around meals, it seems like you have had very little or no nutrition guidelines given to you. Please seek help from a licensed nutritionist who has experience with the Sleeve. If you cannot find that, even experience with any WLS will be of a benefit to you. The volume and types of food you are eating can cause serious issues with your healing stomach. Please, please, please get some help immediately!
  9. I didn't receive a discount card, but did receive a card requesting I be allowed to order smaller quanties (such as child or senior menus). I have used this a few times - Olive Garden is happy to comply, but their policies require you show the card.
  10. OK - no flaming needed. This is only my personal experience that I am sharing. I know that many people say it is a no-no, but I drink Diet Soda and don't have any problems. I actually do not find it to be a trigger - it fills me up & I don't want to eat. I find that fountain drinks are much easier than bottled/caneed. But, this is only my personal experience. I do not count is as my 64+ oz a day since I do enjoy the caffeine in my diet soda.
  11. Anyone seen or heard from Loser? Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery (VSG) Forum - View Profile: loser I was thinking of him the other day and see that he has not posted since April when he said he was getting out of the hospital and coming back on here soon. :001_tt2: :frown1: :frown1: :frown1: :frown1:
  12. You are right Mary, but when it's your own family, it's hard to swallow sometimes. You know? Doing better though. 10 pounds from my original goal. Might lower it a bit, but we'll see when I get there. Thanks for all the positive responses.

Wish I could take credit for it. It was an idea my nut gave me. Really helped out those first few weeks. While I don't measure with the ice cube trays anymore, I do freeze Protein in 2.5 ounce quantities for lunch - roast beef, flank steak, chili, etc. Really helps make packing lunch easy and quick - not to mention keeping my Water bottle cold as it defrost in my lunch bag. (Of course, I still get teased for the small containers I pop in the microwave at work. :bored0:)
  14. Can't wait to hear from you "on the other side". Your nerves are perfectly normal. Just know that you have us for support and you will succeed!
  15. I also have an excellent credit rating & they quoted me a VERY high rate (around 12.9%!!!). So high, it was cheaper to look at a regular credit card than using them. If you own a house, do you have Home Equity Line of Credit? Usually you can borrow on that at a MUCH lower rate. Good luck in your search.

It's amazing how good those "real" foods taste on purees - isn't it? My favorites were was mac-n-cheese (pureed with extra milk) and chili. I froze them in ice cube trays & would put them in the microwave for 30 seconds for my "meals". Glad to hear things are going well for you in this stage.
  17. Very good point about the inches. When I find the scale is not moving, I usually see a drop in inches.
  18. Ha Ha! Funny you should say that. Today, I'm actually trying to hide. My size 10 pants (that I bought 3 weeks ago) are already sagging in the butt. My husband was laughing about having to go shopping again. Not sure I can cram the waist into an 8, but the butt & hips sure want a smaller size. Maybe I should buy a few skirts for the summer - they may be more "forgiving". Thanks again for the encouragement. I'm not quite as upset about the reaction (or lack thereof) ... it's getting easier. :thumbup1:
  19. When you start feeling down, find something that is the weight of what you have lost & try to pick it up. You will realize just how much you have accomplished. 20 pounds in such a short time is amazing!!!! I was told to expect 10 pounds per month the first few months and then it would taper down to 5 or less a month. Pre-surgery, would you have been disappointed in that? Probably not. So, don't allow yourself to feel down. (I know I did & it was a waste of energy.) You CAN and WILL do this!
  20. You go girl! Glad to hear that you are back in the saddle and taking control. We are here for you!
  21. You aren't that far out. You should NOT be able to eat an entire Subway Salad in 10 minutes. Have you talked to your surgeon? Something does not seem right. I don't think we are going to be able to give you the medical advice you need. Call your surgeon and discuss this with him/her. :thumbup1:
