Needing an excellent VSG surgeon in Los Angeles
Have you had surgery yet? My question is asked to see if you are seeking a surgeon or follow-up care. I know Vegas is close to LA (about 3 hours). I used Dr. Umbach through Medical Tourism and found him to be fantastic.

Me on a Binge
We are all human & we all make poor choices sometimes - especially when we are stressed. My husband has no weight issues & he overindulges sometimes too. Best thing to do? Think about why you did it ... Really explore how it made you feel ... How did you feel before, during, and after. If you can honestly say it helped, then don't beat yourself up. If it made you feel worse, don't beat yourself up. Learn from it, get back on track and move forward. Your next meal is still your next meal - make better choices then. And for the record, your binge was pretty sensible considering what you could have done.

BMI around 30
THAT IS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME. Congratulations!

Call & fight w/ BCBS URGENT- XP
It really depends on their policy ... If you need a 40 BMI after the 3 months, then that's the policy ... If it's before, make sure they realize what your BMI was before the 3 months - maybe there was a mix-up in the notes or who read them. Do they allow 35 BMI with co-morbidities? If so, do you have any?

BMI around 30
I started with a BMI of 32.8 ... I made it to goal in ~9 months & then decided to go down 10 more pounds which took 2 additional months. This is serious stuff & major surgery. But, for me, I knew I needed a drastic change and CHANCE at sustainable weightloss. I was a career dieter, but never a successful maintaner.

I've been waiting to say this...
For some reason my reply didn't show up ... take 2 AWESOME. You look amazing! I mean this in the kindest way possible - but you look 10 years younger than your before picture. I bet your family can hardly keep up with you. You decide what to do about your goal. No matter what ... keep up the good work. You are doing great. We are really proud of you!

My first week
I don't mean this to sound harsh ... but, what does your plan say? You really need to follow it to the letter the first few weeks (especially) ... Your little tummy has been through a lot an needs TLC.

One Year Out
Isn't it more like onwards and downwards?!?!?!?!?! LOL I have complete faith that you are going to make your goal. You have such a great attitude and spirit about the process. By the way ... did I miss a post on your hair? What did you decide to do?

What does NSV mean?
A Non-scale Victory ... It can be anything ... like fitting into a smaller pair of pants ... or even a booth at a restuarant instead of needing a chair. My favorite is when people don't recognize me until I talk.
-
NSV and some
I also have thick hair ... it is scary to watch the handfuls come out, but there really isn't a way to stop it. I couldn't believe I still had enough hair to cover me up, but no one really noticed. Well except for me when I had to clean out the shower drain in the mornings. Congratulations on your progress thus far!

3 days after and counting!
Awesome! So glad that it is going well for you. Each day will get better and better. Just take the time to rest - your body has been through a lot!

4 months today - down about 53 lbs.
Congrats. I think most of us decide to cut our hair - makes us a bit sassier in my opinion. Plus, I cut off so much I lost a 1/2 pound!

Just can't make up my mind.. Sleeve or no sleeve?
I believe the insurance is called BLISS. You can google it to find more information. I was self-pay too & definitely worried about the complications. But, we decided to risk it & it's changed my life. You might have seen my post - I am one year out today & am so grateful that I took the leap and had this surgery. Best of luck - I know it's a hard decision. You will do what is right for you. (Also - just because you aren't going to a surgeon in your area, does not mean that you can't go to one of their free seminars. )

One Year Out
I most certainly will! This board is my support group & I will need each and every one of you on this new phase of my journey. Thanks for being there for me.

One Year Out
Don't do that to yourself. If you never lost another pound, think of all the good you've done for your body! You've removed excess pressure on your joints, your heart doesn't have to work as hard, and you are getting around so much better. 77 pounds is AWESOME. Celebrate each step of the way! And, the best news? We all KNOW you are going to continue down the path of weight loss. You are a winner & you will succeed!!!!!! Right now, I want you to go get those "big girl pants" you wore the night before surgery. Strip down to just bra/panties and put them on. Look at how loose they are. Now, I want you to do that once a month. Measurements, weigh in, and try on those pants. It WILL keep you on track. Pin them up if you have to, but don't lose sight of how far you've come. GOT IT? GOOD!

Digital scale or manual ??
As long as you think your scale is consistent & calibrated the same, I don't think it really matters. Just watch for it to keep going down, down, down! I know my doctor's scale usually is about 3-4 pounds more than mine at home. How do I tell? I weigh each morning in my birthday suit. But, if I am going to the doctor's office, I weigh before I go with all my clothes on (minus my shoes) ... then, I see the reading at the doctor's office. Very simple way of tracking, but it works for me.
