  1. Tiffykins, I dont want to repeat everyone else but you have answered so many of my questions and encouraged me with your wise words. I pray that you will be able to concieve and that you will have a healthy baby to post about on your 2 year check in. Blessings to you.
  2. I will be sleeved on Monday. Dr told me he only does post op leak test if he thinks it is necessary. They also seem to be very very cautious with post op diet. Clear liquids for 1-2 weeks then 2 weeks of full liquids. I was a little worried about not having one but after we spoke in length about the precaution taking during surgery I feel like he is right and not everyone needs to have a leak test after surgery.
  3. I am saying a little prayer for you.
  4. Congratulations it sounds like you are well on your way to a great recovery. Thank you for keeping us updated on how you are doing. Take care you yourself and get lots of rest.
  5. Thank you for all the good inforamation. HAd no idea you could return what you dont like. Thank you for posting.
  6. Andrea, That is incrediable! Congrats! Can't wait to join you there on the other side.
  7. Welcome...I have learned so much from this site. I feel very well prepared for my sleeve on the 6th. Good luck to you as you wait for your date.
  8. Congrats... thanks for letting us all know how you are feeling....continued healing to you!
  9. I have to call two business days prior to get the time. I did my registration the day of my pre op...doesn't hut to call and check on things on Monday.
  10. That is totally awesome! I can't imagine being the smallest size in a store other than Lane Bryant. Thank you for sharing that!
  11. I haven't had surgery yet but I have to maintain my required weight loss until surgery. I made dinner for my family plus a few marines that didnt get to go home. I was really worried that I would eat to much and gain but I was too busy to eat and I didnt taste anything except the greenbeans while I was cooking. By the time I sat down to eat I kept busy feeding my baby girl and cranky 3 year old. I only ate a few small pieces of turkey and a small portion of sweet potatoes, some green beans and a small bite of pie. Then later I tried to eat a piece of pie but the sweet made my stomach hurt so i couldnt eat much. It is great to hear that most of you sleevers did so well! Can't wait to call my self sleeved!
  12. I don't think all doctors require it. I was required to attend two classes prior to getting a date and they went over the pre and post diets and then at my pre op appointment at the surgeons I was given a list of instructions. Have you had your preop appointment? If you have maybe they do not require it.
  13. I also will be cooking for my family after surgery. I have three kids ages 18 months, 3, and 9. My husband is taking two weeks off to help me because my doctor said no lifting my little ones until two weeks out. Hubby doesnt cook though. Not even a little. I only have to do a two day liquid so I am thankful but I have been doing a low carb.low sugar, low fat diet, high Protein for 4 months so I guess in a way my pre-op diet has been 4 months long. My surgeon thinks that in order to shrink your liver you should lose 10% of excese body weight prior to surgery. The liquid is only to clear our the stomach before surgery. I am most worried about the "bowel prep" they are making me do and the pain afterward. I find it strange that some people have almost none and some have terrible. I have had two of my three kids with out pai meds but I have never had surgery before so I am not sure if it is different kind of pain. I have had a little trouble sleeping lately. I wake up thinking of all the what ifs. What kind of things did you buy for you post op. I have bought some broth and Jello, I have been using nectar protein so I have that. I plan on getting some sugar free popsicles but that is all I can think of. Your right Dec. 6th will be here in a blink.
  14. First of all... how are you Secret surgery 34? How did everything go? I enjoyed reading this post and all the comments. I am 33 and having surgery on the 6th of December. I have been leary about telling people because i didnt want to hear the negitive comments. When we started this process in May I told a small group of ladies (5) at church and asked them to pray that I would make the decision God would want me to make. I recieved such hurtful responses that I cried. Then my husband and I decided that it was going to be difficult to talk to people about this. After telling my family about my decision I realized that even those who love me (and may I add that my two sisters are currently struggling to lose weight using weight loss drugs) said they were supportive but their questions were very negative. They say they are behind me but they are scared and that this is so drastic...but then they also say oh I know you have tried everything you can to keep the weight off. For now we are only telling people we have to. I have decided that if my family or friends want to say negative things about my decision I will tell them I made the decision and it was best for me, my husband and my children and they can keep all the other comments to themselves. Besides they can sit back and watch me succed this time because I am going to lose this weight for good!
  15. Saying a little prayer for you! You will never forget this Thanksgiving! You have a lot to be thankful for.
  16. Thanks for your post. Awesome weight loss! Your inches are melting away!
  17. First of all I have to say GREAT POST! This is such great encouragment to everyone! Then I have to ask and I feel really silly that I cant figure it out but... what the NSV means...Thanks I know it has something to do with victories that I wil get to experience after I get my sleeve. But what does it mean? Thanks.
  18. I say go and eat what you are suppose to! I think it is really sad that people think Thanksgiving is about the food! It is really about being thankful for all the blessings we have. Go! spend time with your family. Explain to your aunt that the food looks and smells delicious and you are so grateful to have her and then tell her that you won't be able to eat but you wanted to be with her and the rest of the family onThanksgiving. That is just my two cents...what ever you decide Happy Thanksgiving! You have a new sleeve to be thankful for!
  19. My surgeon has two phases of liquids. The first is clear...no milk or creamy liquids. Then I get to move to "full liquids". Those include creamy soups, milk, protein shakes. Then I get to move to mushies. They gave me sample menus and days planned out for me. Did you have to have any meetings with your nutritionist or classes you had to take? good luck to you...hope that helps.
  20. My NUT told me that I should not ever use Slim Fast. There is just too much Carbs in them. A protein shake fills me more and I like the flavors more. Maybe you can find some sugar free popsicles and crystal light. I also read on here that your taste buds change after surgery so maybe you dont want to buy too much now? Good Luck to you...my surgery is the 6th and I have only bought a little chicken and beef broth from when I get home.
  21. 21 lbs in 11 days that is so great!!!! I can't wait to write a post like this!!! Great Job girl. I say you dance in front of you husband until he sees what a big deal this is! Congrats girl.
  22. Tomorrow I am two weeks out. My surgeon requires a two day pre op diet of liquids only but I also had to loose ten % of excess weight before they would make a date. I have lost that and trying to lose a little more. Curious what was your two week diet? I am kind of doing a low carb/sugar, low fat, high protein diet. Some days I have just done protien shakes for morning or lunch and just a regular dinner. Congrats on your success! Your doing Great!
  23. I am dealing with some people just like that. I have decided that it is ok for them to not agree with my decision. It is my decision. I have made it. My surgery will be Dec 6th and then all those people can watch me be succesful. I am just trying to go to my husband who supports my decision 100% and have faith in God that this is the right thing for me to do.
  24. I am also having surgery on the sixth. I will say a little pray that your goes well. I am not looking forward to the month of December but the months to follow will be great! My husband keeps reminding me that next year I will be a loser. Ive tried to lose weight for ten long years and next year I will lose FOR GOOD! Good luck to you. Hope to hear from you soon.
