Tomorrow is THE day!!! Yikes!!!
twoboysandagirl replied to VSGandMe2011 (DisneyMomma)'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&ADana, I am saving you a spot right next to me! I know that you will do great because the "Great Healer" will be with you. I am praying for you today and I will pray tomorrow. Please let me know how you are when you are up to it. And don't forget to sip as often as you can and walk as soon as you can (especially when you dont feel like it). Get out of that bed as soon as they let you. It really does speed your recovery. Blessings to you,

I'm So Excited!!
That is awesome. I really want to run! My husband is a Marine and my #1 goal is to run a pft (physical fitness test) with him. I want to score the same as he does. My #2 goal (life long) is to run a marathon. I was running a little before surgery but I can't even run for 3 minutes at a time right now. I dont think I am getting in enough calories at this point. But I will get there! Let us know how the 5K goes. By the way what type of shoes did you buy? Mine are too big!!! Got to buy new ones:-)

Okay, this is getting ridiculous!
I agree that your carbs sound too high. I eat less than 30 a day and I keep my protein around 70. I really only eat protein. I rarely each anything else. I still drink 2 protein shakes a day and on an occasion I have wheat crackers and hummus or something similar. I can probably add the last three days together and won't have 70 carbs. I eat around 600 calories a day. I am sorry you are struggling. I can only imagine how frustrating this would be. Hang in there. Keep us posted on what you try and what seems to work. I am sure you will find the right fit and start losing again.

Scars after surgery
I also have five small incisions scars. I am almost 3 months out and I am suprised at how well they have healed. 3 are about 1/8 on an inch long. One on each side about 4 inches in from the center of my stomach. The two at the bottom of my stomach are about 4 inches from each other and they are about 3/4 inch long. I have had my husband take pictures of them right after surgery and at 1 and 2 months out. If you would like to see them pm me with your email.

Post-Op Hunger Poll
I voted not hunger but I do get an empty feeling. Hard to describe...you know when you drink so much you can hear it sloshing around in your stomach? The opposite.

So....what's it like?
Honestly, I think it was really hard for me to get my mind around some of the changes that I would have to make before I had the surgery; but after I just followed all of the instructions I was given and it just all fits into place. Things I though would be SO hard just aren't. Good Luck to you on your journey.

Protein drinks????
Lisa, I was not allowed to have milk until after my two week post op visit with the doctor. I was not allowed any fruit until 6 weeks out. But I have found that my nutritionist is on the conservative side of things. I was drinking protein shakes for a few months before surgery and after I could not drink the same kind. Tasted different and not in a good way. I bought some to try (if you buy them from gnc you can return what you dont like) and I finally found one I could drink 3-4 times a day. Once you are allowed...I now mix my chocolate protein with PB2 (a powdered form of peanut butter) and I drink two a day and they taste just like Reses PB cups. Good Luck to you!

How can I control my pride?
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I am struggling with something and I dont really have anyone else to talk to about it so I am hoping that you have some words of wisdom for me. My sleeve is working great and I am following all of my doctors orders (except 64ounces of fluids-just cant get them in). So what is the problem...I am proud of my self. I am proud of how I look. Now keep in mind I still have a ways to go but from where I started I just feel like I look good. I do not want the devil to have a foot hole here you know what I am saying!!! I praise God that He has seen me through the surgery and recovery but I need to attribute my success to Him and I need to find a way to use this YES EVEN THIS, for His glory. Would love your thoughts. Blessings, Annette

Only 2 pounds this month
I know that it is frustrating! But hold on. If you are doing what your doctor told you to do then you will be successful. I have heard of so many that loose in a stair step way. They loose then stall...loose, then stall...and it just repeats. I think you just need to hang in there and wait it out...By the way do you take measurements? Any changes in those during the last few weeks? When you get discouraged maybe you can look at old photos and see how far you have already come....We are always here for you:-)

I just keep melting away!! :-)
Diva, you are doing so great girl!!! What a blessing to have success on the scale and in the closet too!!!! You Keep It Up!

Confusion
Yeah, I was told that you can have as much fluid as you want. For me it was impossible to get more than like 45 ounces. If you can get in 64 your doing great!

YES!
That is so great I am so glad that not only did you brake that stall but you moved yourself out of the 190's. You are awesome.

Dentist Visit
Oh my! Thank you for telling me about your experiences. I bought some flouride rinse today. Your post is a good reminder of another reason why we must take our Vitamins.

Dentist Visit
I went in for my 6 month cleaning. I have been reading that Calcium supplements are bad for your teeth so I asked the dentist. He said yes they eat away at your teeth and so are my Multivitamins. He said that I should brush, floss, and use floride rinse after each supplement. Then I told him that would be five times a day. He seemed confused. I dont think he was listening to me when I told him what kind of surgery I had. He said he would look into the calcium supplements out there to help me find the best choice. I dont think he will follow through though...I have very healthy teeth at this point and I dont want that to change because of my wls. Today I had a lot of build up and it was a painful cleaning, the dental assistant said that it was because of the minerals in the supplements. But, even if all my teeth fell out I still think wls was the right choice for me. So what have you experienced? Has your dentist told you anything?

*7* Truths Post-Op
This is a great thread!!! 1. Life does NOT revolve around food. Food is just for nutrients. 2. I have to work very hard to drink enough Water ( I never get 64 ounces)...and I do love water. 3. I still cook all of my family's meals...but still working on making them a little more sleeve friendly. 4. My husband is more supportive than I thought and my sisters are less. 5. Waiting 30 minutes to eat after drinking and 30 minutes after is hard. 6. I dont want to buy clothes in a smaller size until they are a SMALL size. 7. It is hard to not shout from the roof top how much I have lost. 8. I dont really know how to respond when people tell me I look good. Thank you just seems awkward. 9. One of the hardest thing I have to do is go to the grocery store. The first few times I almost cried at all the food that I know I will never eat. I still buy food that I can not eat and you know what ...it doesnt call to me from the kitchen. 10. I dont stress any more about what the scale says (now that I only weigh once a week) I actually LOOK forward to weighing in on Sundays.
