How long do we focus on protein?
Hello, As per my post op directions I am following the Protein first rule; but I am wondering if there is a time when that changes? Is it a forever thing? Do I do this just while I am losing? Will there ever be a time, in the near future, when I can eat my veggies first? Any long term sleevers out there with some wisdom for me?! Thanks in advance =]

Should I dye my hair?
Hello fellow sleevers, I am 6 1/2 mths post op now and my hair is still falling out albeit slower than at first. i have noticed an abundance of grey hair coming through, both on the regrowth and on the longer, older hair. My question then, is simple, should I dye my hair - to get rid of the pesky grey - or leave it a while longer? As you can see from my avatar pic, it is non descript mousy brown colour... Hmmm not sure what to do!

It's strange...
Hey Chilo ... glad it helped... I just felt that I should write something positive cos I do seem to moan a lot on here... or at least that is how it feels! Look at your BMI... you are sooooo close and wearing size 12-14 (UK)... C'mon that is bloody brilliant!! You are looking amazing; fit, healthy and really SLIM! The last hurdle will be the hardest and longest, but you are sooo close... and probably losing inches too!! Chin up lovely ladyeeeeee xx

It's strange...
Hey Diva, yea I am sorta thinking along the 5k thing,.. over here we have a the Race for Life that is a 5k run for women's cancers... don't think I'll be ready this year but I'd love to next year and I am hoping my daughter will do it with me... this time last year I couldn't walk on the treadmill for 40 mins!! xx

It's strange...
Hey Mini-Me... yea I am hoping that the inches are being kinder that the scales... I measure every other week or so... I will let you know on Saturday!! But... my recently bought size 18(UK) trousers are starting to hang! I should get a smaller pair but am scared they'll be too small... I did buy a size 16 dress and it is a little tight :-( dunno whether to take it back or keep it as another motivator??? I LOVE SMILING x

It's strange...
So, my plan was to start the New Year with a positive outlook regardless of what the scale said... and I think it is working! Okay, so I ain't losing quickly but it is coming off slow but sure. The strange thing is all the comments that I am getting! Strange but I like it! In work, on a daily basis, I am getting a lot of nice comments... things like 'OMG Coops, you are getting smaller every day!' and 'Wow! You are looking really slim' (that one I do laugh at 'cos I wouldn't consider myself slim; smaller yes!) another 'You look really healthy now, how much weight have you lost?' Even the kids in my classes are being kind and giving me compliments. This is also happening at home too, my husband gives me compliments on how I look now (he did in the past but it 'feels' different now) and each time he gives me a cwtch (welsh for hug) he mentions that I am a lot smaller! My youngest can now put his arms all the way around me and tells me that I am looking good! My eldest wants me to go to Zumba with her, which is a great feeling knowing that she isn't embarassed to be seen doing exercise with me! My Mam and Dad are also commenting on how healthy I look .. now THAT is a NSV!! Over the last couple of months, my weight hasn't really dropped that much, but I think, because I am now feeling more confident and positive in myself it is being noticed by others. I am also doing more exercise and I think this too is helping me mentally and physically. This time last year I couldn't do much without a lot of pain.... now I am jogging for 40mins non stop!!! Yea, I know! Check me out! So all in all... my advise if you are going through a rough patch is to stay positive as it is infectious!!

how many times a day do you eat?
Hey, I usually eat 3 times a day never more than 4 and the fourth one is a protein snack, say ham or cheese. I also stop after 20 mins but I usually I am finished by then! I normally weigh my food and can eat between 5-8oz in one sitting depending on what it is and how dense the protein is eg. pork chops fill me quicker than an omlette! I also wait for around 30 mins before I have a drink otherwise I just feel ill and way toooooo full! Hope this helps!

Just because
Tiff... as the others have said, you look amazing... I am looking forward to feeling as good as you do, never mind looking as good...lol thanks for sharing, and giving me hope =]

i finally understand!!!!!
I agree with you 100 %... in my younger and smaller years, I loved to work out... and I was fit! I used to get frustrated when I started to gain weight because I could not do the same amount of exercise.... not I am 50lb down and I can move again... I started to walk as soon as I could and as the weight slowly comes off... I do more and more! It is a great feeling to feel alive again... =]

Would like some feedback. . .
Hi Pam, Yea me too with the three meals and no Snacks ... I think I was told this to stop the habit of eating inbetween meals and therefore adress any grazing issues... I tend to stick to this 85-90% of the time. If I do have a snack it has been Protein based ie cheese, ham, etc but I am going to start to include some fruit and veggies now too! Your weight loss to date is amazing by the way.... congrats! =]

band v sleeve
Hiya Gayci... I have the sleever and paid £8000 for it, it was probably the best money I have ever spent! I am in Wales btw!! I too, first looked into getting the band and went to an 'open evening' type thing where they showed all the options and the sleeve won hands down. I like the fact that it is permanenet; I feel like it is a commitment to myself and to my health that I can NEVER over eat again! The sleeve is a great tool to help you lose weight, there is no cheating ...lol... still gotta work it and make the right food choices. I am pretty much half way to goal now, and I am a SLOW loser..lol... It's all good!!

Hey Mini-me... great thread... I think you have done a brilliant job, your weight loss is amazing and so is your BMI... and you are 10lb under your goal weight... I am no where near maintance but I do understand why you are worried about gain! I am sure that you are gonna work it out, just as you did in your losing phase... good luck and HEY, what is a couple of cals over when your BMI is 20.1 ...lol =]

You don't need to lose weight...
I really get where you are coming from here... As much as people are trying to be kind and supportive, it is still a tad bit stupid telling someone they look good for the 'sake' of it! At just over 6mths out, I am not even half way, very close, but not quite there... anyways, in work I continue to get lovely comments about how good I look and how healthy I look... Nice! I was speaking to a friend, who is really skinny; tiny, tiny, tiny lady who is also lovely... She commented on me weight loss, calling me the amazing shrinking lady and we both chuckled; I told her that I am frustrated 'cos I haven't hit my half way goal and she said 'Bloody hell Coops, you can't lose another 3+ stone, 'cos you'll have a skinny little body and a massive head!' Well that was a lesson in itself... yea, I can lose it cos there is fat to lose... so the moral of the story... just take the compliment and don't discuss where in the weight loss process I am!!

Eating Only 3 Times a Day and No Snacking...
Yep, I was told to eat three times a day and still do... easy habit to form in the early days and not it is my routine! If I do need a snack it is a protein based one or some fruit or veg! When I 'think' I am hungry I just drink a lot of water!
