  1. I suppose they consider it high BP because I am normally 120/80. But one thing I keep asking is - Could it be nerves about the surgery?!?! No answer. I mean, it can't be salt b/c I am on the shake diet already (and losing - TYVM haha). So my PCP just called and can fit me in on Friday morning. Not sure that is going to help much if he does put me on meds?!?! How long do BP meds take to bring your BP down? I am trying some meditation and relaxation today. Maybe I can get my DH to give me a massage... LOL oh a girl can wish right?!?! DH offered to slip me some of his BP meds... LOL... I know it is not medically "right" but... It is really bothering me that my surgeon is willing to post-pone my surgery over this though
  2. Did you have high blood pressure before your surgery? If so, how high was it? Was it being treated with meds? Has it gone down after surgery? I have never had high BP, but the last month it has been around 130/108 pretty consistently. My bariatric Dr told me to go to my PCP and ask for meds before surgery. My PCP can't fit me in, and won't write a [new] script via the phone. So here I am, Wednesday, surgery on Monday, and no script for BP. Now I get a call from my bariatric Dr saying I need to track it today, Thurs, and Fri and if it is too high they will postpone my surgery. I have stressed to my PCP's nurse the importance of getting seen and nothing. I am beyond mad. LOL And that surely doesn't help my BP.
  3. Old Navy does run a tad big BUT it isnt that the clothes grew, but instead you shrank!! A small/medium must feel great!!
  4. My Dr told me he is using a 38 on me. He said it was because smaller bougie's can lead to strictures?!?! Well, like you, I worried that it wouldn't be enough restriction BUT hey 85% of the tummy is gone. There has to be a good deal of restriction with that. Don't stress the things we cannot change. Try to relax, enjoy your pain meds (LOL) and take one day at a time. Big Hugs!!! :hugs:
  5. Dawn! YAY!!! You are on your way hun!! Don't stress the IV. Hopefully you will get a great nurse that will get it with the first prick. Big hugs!! :grouphug:
  6. Are you getting enough Vitamins and Water? I like the Crystal Light energy mix - add a little unflavored Protein for a nice boost! I have even heard some people say they had to up their calories for a day or two to get back some energy. I hope you feel better soon!! :cheer2:
  7. Just think, you can have it for lunch tomorrow... and dinner.. and lunch the day after.. so on and so on LMAO!!
  8. Curious - did your Dr prescribe a PPI for you post op? My Dr gave me all my scripts but no PPI for post op. Bougie size - my Dr will be doing a 38 French on me. How about you? Just wondering. Hugs, Heather
  9. I thought I heard my Dr wrong when he said I would get a size 38 French. I am conflicted - is this good or bad?!?! I will be able to eat more than a typical 32 bougie but will I be hungry?!? Will I feel full? Will I not lose as well? Hmmm.. just things to think about I guess.
  10. I think you have to change your focus. I am like you, I love food - it was entertainment and fun. I enjoy cooking and feeding people. Growing up, food was love. But now, we need to fill our soul with other types of joy - exercise, travel, gaming, reading, shopping etc. We will need to find something to fill that void. I am not saying we will never enjoy food again - we will. But finding something to take the main focus off the next meal will be important. I am reading the Emotional First Aid Kit and it really harps on changing your mindset pre and post op. You can do it! I have faith! :cheer2:
  11. Lonna, that is great. Slow or not, a 13/14 is nothing to shrug at! You are doing a great job. Keep it up!! HUGS!
  12. I agree - you are so lucky! Your wife will be able to understand better. My DH is pretty fit - we met when we were both in the Army and he never lost that Army fit body! LOL (Mine flew out the window when I got out hahaah!) So yeah it is pretty hard going it alone, but I have VST and a few close friends. Plus my mom is like my personal cheerleader! I am really blessed in a way. And, maybe he will cheerlead when I am 'sexified' again Your date is coming!! YAY!!
  13. WHAT? I told my DH that I lost 6 lbs on my pre-op diet and his response; "Awesome, now you don't need the surgery!" WTH did he fall and bump his head?!?! 6 singular pounds and I should quit this multi-year process? WOW. I am so disappointed. Top that with the stress of surgery in one week and yeah - I am frazzled. Sigh!
  14. My Dr sells the RTD singles of BA. I tried strawberry - it was ok, and tried vanilla - BARF omg omg omg I couldnt make it taste decent! I added SF Syrup and even Splenda but really had to just drink it and not focus on the taste!! I bought samples of Syntrax nectar and they are ok. Neat flavors. Good luck
  15. Hi there! Welcome to the Jewels of June. I am being sleeved on June 6th! I started my shakes 1 1/2 weeks ago. I only use water to mix in mine. I add Crystal Light, Torani SF syrup and I found some SF syrups made for crushed ice treats. I really like Atkins RTD shakes but I don't think they will work during the clear liquid phase (not sure?!?!). I bought unjury and Syntrax nectar mix that go into water and taste ok. And I bought lots of Jell-O! LOL
  16. MNB, Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! That is my date as well and nervous is an understatement. Many sleevers have been giving me wonderful advice though. They say to relax, think of the positive, acknowledge the complications but DON'T dwell on them and overall just try to prepare your mind and body for the change. You will do great!! Welcome to the Jewels of June! Hugs Heather :cheer2:
  17. I wish we had a list with all the names / date in order!! I have to keep checking the thread to see who is coming up!! LOL So all you Jewels of June that will be sleeved next week - Good Luck and keep us updated! My prayers are with you. :grouphug:
  18. Stay positive!! Great post! (+) rep!!!
  19. Good words of wisdom, thank you! I definitely have to be my own support system inside my house. I have many WLS friends outside home, IE work, net etc... that will be a great resource! And of course - VST! I love this board! I dont want to be one of those people that comes for pre op chat and never comes back. If you guys don't hear from me post op, somebody better call my hubby and find out what happened! LOL
  20. Hahahaha! Yep Big loser.... finally it will be a compliment!
  21. Sent you a friend request!!!
  22. TKD, I am glad she is doing better. I am praying for you guys and her quick recovery. I have to admit, I am shaking right now. This is a very scary case of complications. I am glad you shared - even though it scares the heck out of me. Keep us posted.
  23. Melissa, I am sure we are all pretty scared. I am like you and it hits me pretty hard at times. I have two beautiful little girls and I can't imagine .... oh just thinking about it makes me get goose bumps. I will send you lots of prayers. I have my surgery on June 6th and really hope to be here to cheer you on June 13th!!! We can do this... :grouphug:
  24. I was wondering this as well. My Dr did not mention doing a script for a PPI post op. He gave me 2 scripts (one for Gallbladder stones and one Foltex). I am wondering why no PPI now... hmm! Good question!
