  1. I totally 100% recommend getting some of those thermacare pads for your left shoulder. It helped so much the last few days with the gas pains. I was banded last week on 2/17. Good luck!! --Carrie
  2. Well, I'm just so glad that Joe the Plumber will be there. Send in another clown for the goat rodeo! "The only Beck I trust has two turntables and a microphone."
  3. During my consultation, I asked my Dr this exact question.: What should I do if I get stomach flu. I have a 22month old, and she brings home daycare plague during the winter. My dr said to call the office asap and have the band unfilled to help prevent slippage while vomiting from the flu. Great advice!!
  4. Hi Yannabee, I was on the same pre-op diet. I'm not a fan of drinking my calories. So instead of skim milk, I had 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese or greek yogurt. I also added egg whites during the preop diet. If you go to GNC, the ppl there can really help find a Protein shake that is tasty. I'm using Amplify by GNC. My doc wanted me to drink under 200 cals and 20grams of protein in each shake. A lot of ppl on here like Muscle Milk Light. Hang in there. Each day will get better. The first few days I felt cranky and weak and then got used to the diet.
  5. Brandi.. I'm in the same boat. I'd give anything to cough right now Thanks everyone for the responses! I'm just keeping on the pain meds every four hours and sipping on liquids. I just feel like my breath is taken away with the hernia fix.
  6. Hi all, I was banded yesterday, and during the surgery my physician also repaired a hiatal hernia. Has anyone else had this done too? I'm experiencing more pain my diaphragm, which I think has more to do with the hernia repair than the actual banding. It sucks. I can't sneeze or cough without screaming out in pain, which is tough since I have horrible allergies and sneeze a lot. Also, for some reason, my ab muscles are twitching. It's so weird. What kind of pain did you all have right after surgery and how long did it last? For me it's mostly the skin incisions being held by dermabond and my diaphragm.
  7. Hey Sam, Got banded today, and you were totally right about the New Hope staff. They took great care of me. While I got the band, the dr fixed a hernia too. So far, the left shoulder pain and diaphragm pain from the hernia fix is the worst pain I'm in. I'm slowly sipping water, gatorade and my shakes. Hopefully, I can sleep well tonight or sleep in this big comfy club chair we have. The worst part of the night is not pick up my daughter, 22 months old. When she went to bed, she kept crying for me to pick her up. Totally heartbreaking
  8. Hey all! I'm new to the board. I live in Shawnee and am getting banded tomorrow by Dr Fearing at New Hope Bariatrics. Does anyone participate in the support group there? I'm totally spooked about surgery tomorrow, and it has more to do with the lack of control going under and coming out of surgery.
  9. I'm on the same schedule as you. Pre-Op diet now and surgery date on 2/17. Dog food lol.
  10. I had the same thing. I started the liquid diet last Thurs, surgery date 2/17, and for the first 2 days I pooped like 10 times per day. It might be normal to flush out all of the junk.
