Party Food.
At parties I stick to high Protein items like if there is a chesse or meat tray. I also will offer to bring something and make sure it's something I can eat. For example, last night I brought a hummus layer dip and pretzel chips. Delish. At restaurants, I usually go for a salad with a protein in it. Right now my favorite is a salad with salmon usually with some type of vinaigrette. A local restaurant has a spinach salad with strawberries, walnuts, goat cheese and I add salmon, Love it. I've found that salad is my perfect food. Veggies, sometimes fruit and a protein. Perfection.

Dental Cleaning: Funny
Thought you all would enjoy this, and it's actually good advice. Don't eat before getting your teeth cleaned. Seriously. I know most people don't eat anyway because we don't want stinky breath before the appointment, however my appointment was at 9am - after being awake for three hours, getting ready for work, getting the kiddo ready for preschool, etc. I grabbed some turkey slices and a slice of cheese for a good, quick Protein Breakfast. I ate it about 15mins before my appointment. Bad idea. As the dentist chair was going down with my head slightly below horizonal I thought, "Oh sh*t, my breakfast is still in my pouch and not in my stomach. With nothing stopping it from coming back up, omg, calm down, this is not going to be good *weird hiccup burp*." I had to stop the cleaning a few times, apologizing profusely (my hygenist knows about the band). Gravity was not my friend. Since the food was sliding back up (or down given the position I was in), my esophagus kept making more mucus thinking I was stuck. Awesome. The hygenist even said, wow, a little soupy in your mouth referring to the extra saliva from the incident - totally laughed at that. I finally stopped the cleaning, stood up, did a big no no and jumped up and down hoping gravity would make it all get past the stoma and into my stomach which worked. Of course, you have to imagine the most polite way to jump was to cross my arms over my chest to hold my boobs in place so it wouldn't totally be obscene or so I wouldn't hurt the tatas. Total comedy. So my advice, eat way earlier than you dental cleaning to avoid looking like a schmuck jumping up and down in a dental office.

Help, I Think My Hair Is Falling Out!
Very normal. It's from the stress of surgery and could be a sign of not getting enough protein. Try to get at least 80gms of protein a day. I had the same thing happened and supplemented by diet with a protein shake or protein bar a day and added a biotin supplement in the morning. No more hair problems.

I Never Cheat And I Cheated Today :-/
Don't beat yourself up too much. Half the battle is recognizing what was ingested and what must be done to compensate for that. Wake up tomorrow and start the new day without the guilt. Good luck!

Any Good Fish Recipes
I made this recipe up for salmon and love it. Salt and pepper salmon Place in pan skin side down w/ some olive oil Pam. Cook for 3 mins. Flip and cook for another 3 mins Sauce is a greek yogurt dill sauce on top. It's easy: fat free greek yogurt, fresh dill, salt, pepper, onion powder. During the summer i put the salmon skin side down on tin foil, place the sauce on top, wrap the foil up and place it on the grill for about 7-10 mins. The sauce flavors it so nicely. For mahi mahi or tilapia, I use this seasoning: http://www.spiceandtea.com/florida-sunshine-p-194.html Florida Sunshine. It's amazing. I've made a mango, pineapple salsa with these light white fishes that is yummy too.

Is Velveeta And/or Other Processed Cheese's Considered "soft" Cheeses?
If you want some creamy cheese, try goat cheese or the laughing cow cheeses with mashed cauliflower or potatoes. It will give you that cheesy taste you're looking for.

Wife Just Got Banded--What Should I Know?
First of all, you rock for asking the question. I second what everyone else said. My husband was amazing since we had a 2 year old at the time, and I couldn't pick her up for 2 weeks. The best thing you can do is be an ear for her whenever she needs to vent, freak out, cry or just talk. This is a big life change for her and sometimes it takes just someone you love to listen. I don't know you, but I agree with someone who said don't be a food police, so I'm not assuming you would be like this. She may feel self conscious if she wants a cookie. A cookie is a cookie. It's when we eat 10 that it's a problem. Enjoy the one or two treats now and again with her. Find other ways to Celebrate that doesn't involve food. Birthday or Anniversary chocolates can now be a gift certificate for a massage Here are some things to know that she may not readily admit: 1. Being on the pre and post liquid diet can cause diarrhea. Liquid in - liquid out. Be sure she has enough G2 (low sugar) Gatorade in the house. 2. After she starts solids, her food intake may be so little that there is little waste, which can lead to constipation. If it's not one, it's the other hehe. Make sure you have some Colace in the house just in case. 3. Get her some Thermacare heating pads or a regular heating pad. The surgery gas pain comes as pain in the left shoulder. 4. Make sure she has a good, small blender or a bullet blender. I got a small Cuisinart. It comes in handy for the mushy stage, and they are cheap. Getting her a blender won't be seen a misogynistic. Trust me. I wasn't a fan of schlepping my sore self to Target to get one when I was allowed to have mushies. 5. Visit the recipe/nutrition portion of the site and give or make her some of the suggested mushy food. Try it yourself, you may like them! Beans w/ salsa... mmmmm 6. She really shouldn't carry anything more than 25 lbs for 10 days. Help with the heavy things.. laundry, kiddos, groceries, etc. 7. My husband got me gift certificates to places I've always wanted to shop. When I hit milestones, he surprised me with them and it was lovely. I'm so seriously touched that you thought to reach out and ask for feedback. Your wife is very lucky as are you to be a part of her journey.

Does Anyone Else Have Left Shoulder Pain
It's referred pain, and actually pain from the gas left in your abdomen that's pushing on your diaphragm and phrenic nerve. Gas-x, heating pads on your shoulder and walking will all help. Sometimes people get this pain when they eat and are too full, too. That's usually my sign to stop eating

Hair Loss ):
Also simply going through surgery can mess with your body. Trauma from surgery can cause hair loss. FYI, it may also mess up your period for a few weeks too. Everyone else is right. The hair loss is from rapid weight loss and lack of protein. I lost a lot, but had a ton to start with, so only I noticed. My Dr said I needed at least 80gms of protein a day and to take Biotin supplement. The biotin will make your nails long and strong too. If I can't get 80gms of solid, food protein, then I supplement with a protein shake once a day.

Baked Egg With Hummus - Recipe
Roughly 115 cals / 10 fat / 4 carb / 8 protein based on how I made it. That will change depending on what other add-ins are included.
