  1. I have PCOS and it was regulated well with birthcontrol, but recently had to get off birthcontrol but it seems it's still being regulated with the IUD that I have. I am interested to see if the PCOS just goes away completely after I have my surgery.
  2. You know, my fiance isn't super supportive of it either. But what I told him was that I appreciate his concern, but that it is my life and this is something I have to do for myself. Now, a sister should have even less say in it than a fiance! Tell her that you know she thinks it's a bad idea, but this is something you want to do for yourself and she needs to BUTT OUT!
  3. The sleeve is much less drastic, and doesn't limit the types of food you can be eating. However, it does get about the same results as the bypass without al lthe negative side effects. The sleeve can always be turned into a bypass down the road
  4. Any carbs will go through you a lot quicker than the protein will. Which is why you are supposed to limit the carbs
  5. That's fantastic! my surgery is april 6th. My psych eval is march 7th and is supposed to take 3 HOURS! holy cow! After that I am calling to schedule my other appts
  6. Wait, will the staples set off metal detectors?
  7. Be careful. Those are slider foods. no wonder they go down so easy
  8. I started taking biotin to help not only with the skin but also to prevent hairloss. I get it on amazon 13 bucks for 4 months. So it's worth a shot, lol
  9. My doctor is scheduling me before I even do the prerequisites because my insurance is through the hospital I am going through so he knows I will be approved.

  11. Hey there girl! I know how you feel. I just made my surgery date and I am feeling guilty about this decision, like I'm a burden and I am taking the easy way out. I went to BariatricChoice.com and got some Protein Water and sugar free pudding that is high protein. You can always e-mail gaylecampbell-adams@u.boisestate.edu if you need support. I'm here for you
  12. thanks iegal! I am taking Biotin already, and experimenting with different gummy Vitamins. How much have you lost so far?
  13. I got my surgery date. April 6th! I am super nervous, so any advice you can give would be great What can I do to prepare, And tell me about your story! I'd love to hear what to expect during surgery. Thanks everybody!
  14. My name is Gayle. I was originally going to have the Lap Band, but the surgeon doesn't want me to do it so he is suggesting the sleeve. I have decided on the sleeve and am pretty nervous about it. My surgery is April 6th
  15. can you tell me about your mental health test? i am going in a couple weeks for mine and i am excited
  16. I bought two books online. Weight loss surgery for dummies, and weight loss surgery cooking for dummies. Both of those will have all the information you need, and i got them both for about 25 dollars on amazon. I highly suggest them
  17. I am having my first consultation with my surgeon (Dr. Valentine) on Monday (which is Valentine's day, how funny is that?). I scheduled my visit with the psychologist but it's a whole month away that they could see me! I am really hoping to have my surgery in the middle of April, because I have a pretty hectic school schedule. I guess we will just see! Did anybody have that psychological evaluation? What goes on during those appointments?
  18. I am 6 feet tall, weight 400 pounds my BMI is around 55 I have hypothyroidism and asthma and depression. Everything else is good I am 20 year old female And my insurance is ameriben
  19. So what are you eating today? Whether you have the lapband or not. Maybe it will give me some good ideas for next years superbowl when I have a band
  20. I do actually see a therapist on a regular basis. And he really isn't like this that much anymore, he use to be when we were starting out, but after a few times of me kicking his ass for doing that he almost completely stopped. Unfortunately, he sounds just like my dad, this seems like exactly something my dad would say. I am kind of use to it, but don't worry, I'm not letting him abuse me. I kicked his ass again. I made him promise that he won't say anything negative anymore. It could have come from that I told him he couldn't talk about my weight anymore, and he hadn't in such a long time and he is so worried about me having surgery and getting hurt that he lost his cool. But he is going to support me now, and I told him that he will buy me a pillow pet for me to have in the hospital the Mr. Bear. So I will call him Mr. Bandy Bear
  21. Thanks everybody. He did wind up apologizing, but I don't really feel like he is actually sorry for saying it. I am actually planning on having the surgery in April because my insurace covers this surgery like any other surgery, meaning that if the doctor says I need it than that is all the authorization they need. That is fantastic for me. I am meeting with the surgeon on the 14th. And the funny thing is that his name is Dr. Valentine
  22. So last night I went to the seminar with my boyfriend (of 3 years) and my mother. I got pretty emotional towards the end because it almost sounded like I was too big to have the lap band. But on talking with the doctor he thinks he can do it for me. However, on the car ride home I started hearing some pretty nasty things from my boyfriend. When I first talked to him about Lap band he was so accepting and nice about it, but I guess something just made him change his mind. He told me that I'm not committed. That nothing was going to change except that I would have wasted a bunch of money and have something around my stomach. He says that I will get even lazier than I am now because of the less calories. He said a lot of other stuff that I can't really remember because I was so upset at that point. I spent the rest of the night crying while he went to sleep... I guess this really isn't a question and it doesn't have much merit, I was just upset and wanted to vent to some people that might know what I'm talking about.
  23. Hello, I am from Boise! I want to know if anybody did the lapband through saint alphonses and what you have to go through to be approved and stuff like that.
  24. I am having a panic attack today about my decision. So to put my mind at ease I would like some information from fellow band members What is a good shopping list for me to make sure I have for the first few weeks. What were your favorite things to have after the surgery. What should I take to the hospital? I will stay overnight, so what will I need. Please tell me about what you had to go through to be allowed to have the surgery and your surgery story. I think the answers to these things will help me feel better. Thanks everybody!
  25. I'll be here, and I can be your friend if you want. I really need somebody to talk to also. I am very concerned. Maybe you can send me a message and we can be buddies
