  1. Wow so many being banded around the world tomorrow! So happy for you all! Happy Birthday and speedy recovery to you all!
  2. You're a perfect age! Good for you girl! I'm 29 and kicking myself that I didnt decide to do this sooner! I've lost so much time when I feel I could've been really LIVING! My dr has suggested it to me for years and I told him no... until this winter my weight combined with my asthma had me gasping for breath after running up 1 flight of stairs. That there was enough to change my mind. I am currently going through the process, just have a nut appt and the 1 more support group meeting before my 2nd appt with my surgeon can be done. Good on u girl! And live it up!
  3. Ah, I'm sorry you're feeling so discouraged. I have not gotten that far in my journey yet so have nothing to add, just wanted to show you some support. Keep your head up and stay focused. But I worry about the same thing. Those shakes.. I used to when i used to use slim fast... hated the shakes! Just yuck. So.. I'm going to have to pinch my nose and just do it. But you can do this.
  4. I agree, these stories are so inspirational! i can't wait to be banded and start this journey! So many things I want to do and try!
  5. Congratulations and good luck to all being banded on Fat Tuesday.. lol
  6. Hi New Bandit I have yet to be banded but my cousin is a flight attendant and boy you guys do a lot of up and down'ing. That may cause you a bit of discomfort. Hate to prolong your recovery by irritatiing your incisions. Good luck to you!
  7. Thank you so much for this post..not that I'm having doubts but I'm just going through the process and this post was such a motivater for me. I appreciate it so much. I myself am sliding a slippery slope, I'm 320lbs and 29 years old and pre-diabetic and pre-hypertensive. This is what made the decision for me to have the surgery. Congratulations on your weightloss.. i hope to be as successful as you are!
  8. I joined this site in Jan and am currently going through the process to be banded and have learned and not everyones' experience is the same. Stay strong and focused. The more you use this site the easier it will become to navigate it. GOod luck.
  9. Hello Elizabeth, I'm also from NY and I'm going to be having the surgery at Montefiore hospital in the Bronx. I'm right now going thru the process. Had my psych exam yesterday and am cleared. Hope you have your date, I'm wondering on an update from you. Hope it's all working out and you're a March Bandster!

  11. Congrats on the surgery tomorrow Yannabe.. u made sensible choices in your diet choices even if you did stray. I've read how different doctors give different meal plans anyway. i don't see how you havin that 1 slip should change anything. :-) This is the first step to the new you..no worries and my thoughts will be with you tom!
  12. sounds like a great tip, I'll definitely keep that in mind.
  13. As I myself go through this whole process, testing and what not, believe that's on my mind! lol I also don't like milk or yogurt so.. I'm just going to have to force it. I will do what i must.

Sorry couldn't resist! lol but I myself am going through the process as we speak. all the testing and what not and I'm just trying to get it over with. My latest appt is with the nutritionist on the 30th of March. ugghh. But it is a process. Good luck to you.
  17. I just got the "Dance on Broadway" for the wii.. i love Broadway! lol i'm about to try it. I just love my wii. It's perfect when u can't make it out the house for the gym.
  18. Hey Erin! My name is Amber and I'm 29 years old and just going through the process to be banded. All my tests are scheduled and just waiting to be performed. I'm hoping to be banded in April. But i'd love a mentor/buddy also! u can contact me here or email me at worreamb@aol.com and maybe we could connect on FB. I'd like to know how you're progressing.
  19. I love the answers you bandsters have given. I sooo am looking forward to being "banded" I had my initial consult on monday and I'm loving her. Tho another bariatric surgeon interrupted our consult to tell me he felt the band was a "mistake and people only lose about 30lbs with the band" I had to tell him i'm well aware of results with the band. How I know it's not a magic bullet, i've done my homework and the band is what I have decided on. Needless to say he disagreed but I had to let him know, your opinion is not only unwanted it's unrequired. I'm so thankful he isn't my dr! lol
  20. Well the seminar went great I am now on my way. Have all appointments scheduled. Was able to get a 6 mo. diet letter from my Pcp so that's not required. The latest appt I have is with the designated Nutritionist. 3/30. I hoped there was someone else they could refer me to but no. But everything else will be done meaning, the pulmonary, ultrasound, and others.. I'm so excited. oh and my insurance covers the surgery and post-op 100 percent. so i'm thankful about that. Hope everyone is doing well and is healthy.
  21. How exciting! lol congratulations! Can't wait till I'm in the same boat with ya! well about my toes anyway.
  22. Aww, i'm sorry you are going through this. Don't regret your decision. Give it some more time. Remember stress keeps weight on you also.
  23. I'm not banded yet, but i also love the dance games. Some games that i love are Gold's Gym boxing workout, and GOld's Gym dance workout, also Just Dance 1 and 2 and the Michael Jackson Experience. love the wii. I also have the Biggest Loser game and the Wii Fit.
  24. Ooohh the sleep thing is definitely not a deal breaker! I'll cat nap for a month for this band! lol I really need this tool and i'm definitely ready to start.
