Cheated... :(
. I was super strict with myself but there isn't one of us here who didn't push the envelope at some point during the journey. It's the repeated behavior that gets you into trouble. I tracked everything...I think that's one of the best secrets to my loss. Good luck to you.

I Figured It Out... It's Elastic's Fault!!
Now that I am shopping for some new clothes to go with my new figure i find myself buying nothing but pants, shorts, skirts and jeans with buttons, hooks, snaps and zippers. I didn't plan it .... but it hit me over the weekend that everything I owned ... once I topped the scales at 200 had an elastic waist. And over the years as I packed on 10, 20 and even 177 lbs to the 200 I had... My elastic waists were forgiving and loved me. I didn't even think to buy a zipper... Too uncomfortable. Elastic grew with me and when I was sure my favorite pair of shorts or skirts has shrunk in the wash yet another time I would buy a bigger size because once again the elastic loved me and made me comfortable. As I was losing weight I found I could go 30 or 40 lbs before the elastic just let me down and I had to go to the next size down. But when I hit sized 14 i bought a skirt that had a zipper and no elastic. It didn't occur to me at the time... I was too busy celebrating the size 14... But I was finished buying elastic anything except maybe leggings and undergarments. The 14 skirt falls off me today. The difference between that and the 10s I am wearing wouldn't be so extreme if they had elastic waists. But they don't and I am promising myself to let my clothes govern my body. If the pants I bought today are ever tight... I won't buy anything else until they fit again. Sorry elastic but you just lost a customer!

Yogurt, Frozen Or Not
Since you are talking about yogurt ... I dislike it... The fresh in a cup version anyway. I will use it in recipes but straight just doesn't tickle my taste buds... No matter what the flavor. And I love it but stay away from the frozen kind because they are a slider food. So now i just am thinking...Is the nutritional value the same in fresh vs frozen?

Scale. Is This Possible?
I weigh myself twice a day...every day. I know it's obsessive and sometimes depressing not to see the scale move for a few days but since I spent the better part of my life ignoring the scale... I figure it cannot hurt. But I do keep in mind the scale is fickle and any number of things will effect the reading. So I bless the days I have a loss and understand that when I don't it's not a bad thing if I am doing what I am supposed to be doing.

Freezing
I am not diabetic but I was always hot. Now it's comical. I take a light jacket everywhere because I am always freezing, I even had blood work to make sure nothing was wrong. Lol Who knew thin people are cold all the time ? Enjoy it!

Why Do People Think Lap Band Is The "easy" Way!?
I could lose it without surgery. I have done it before...but have always gained every bit back plus,. And thats if i didnt get bored withthe diet and quit. Since i had 217 to lose i chose the band because it gives me a governing tool so I will not put it back on. And for that it was worth all the pain and suffering. People speak when the are uneducated so I have learned to ignore the neighsayers and live my own life.

Drink From A Straw ???
No straw for first several months... Once healed my dr allowed it. His theory is that air gets in a straw and gets into the stomach when you are drinking. And when you are healing he doesn't want that complication.

Never...ever Thought I'd Do It :)

Lap Band Vs. Sleeve
I chose the band because as others have posted it required no alteration of my biological systems. And heaven forbid it it could be removed should that ever become a necessity. That said it is a very personal choice. Make sure you do your research and have frank discussions with your surgeon. I spoke with 3 drs before I made my selection.

Length Of Hospital Stay?
My surgery was at 1230 p. I was home in my own bed by 730pm the same day. I didn't feel the need or have any medical reason to stay in the hospital

Did You Name Your Lap Band?

Out-Ed By Friends Husband :(
The best revenge will be at the fair next year.... In the meantime as you plan to I would take him aside and explain how you can understand how he may have questions about your weight loss surgery and how you would be happy to explain it to him...however it's really non of his business and certainly not his place to discuss it with others. Remind him ever so sweetly that if he doesn't have anything nice to say to keep his mouth shut! Just curious... Is he overweight?

Are Sugar Free Carbonated Drinks Okay?
My dr would not band me without the promise of never ever having a carbonated beverage again! He did day I could let one get flat then drink it. So I tried it once.... Yuk! Somehow diet coke didn't go out of business as I though they might since I drank a ton of it. Now days Water, Flavored no calorie waters and iced tea no sugar of course are my new best friends!!

Headache For 3 Days
I was on liquid for 2 weeks preop and had a headache from hell the first 4 days. Dr said it was caffeine and sugar withdrawals which is kind of an eye opener to think your body is addicted to caffeine and sugar ...but it was. By the 5th day it subsided. I hope yours does too.

Damn You Torrid!
Sizes for women are ridiculous . I am now wearing 10s in most pants... But just yesterday I tried on 3 pair of 10s which didn't even come over my hips. The I went else wear and bought all 4 sized 10s I tried on.... Go figure. Tops are the same way. I am tall and I picked up a small top on the clearance rack which fit perfectly. I got it home and noticed the tag said petite which is for someone under 5'4. I am 5'9. How does that make sense? It fits like a glove. LOL Do not measure your success with a size. Let the scale speak volumes!

Senior Bandsters: Anything You Would Have Done Differently Prior To Your Surgery Date ?
My dr prepared me for surgery by making me do a 2 week liquid diet. I hated it at the time but he was very wise because it taught me the following: I can live without eating food as long as I have nutrition I can live on 800 calories each day Food is fuel... You only need it to survive. The act of eating is a habit which can be broken That said the liquid diet also shrunk my liver so I was able to have a successful surgery. Additionally it prepared me for the 2 weeks of liquid post surgery while I healed and made me appreciate mushies like you cannot imagine!! And the added bonus... I lost 22 lbs pre op which was a nice kick start to my journey. Best of luck

Not New To This...
Time to see you dr and discuss with him/her your options. Maybe you need a a little Fluid removed. Maybe there is a more serious problem. Do not wait...call and get some relief!! Although I will add... My band hate grease. I used to be able to eat a 1/4 pounder w cheese, fries, a cheeseburger and large soda. Yikes...I don't think I have ever written that before.... Anyway hubby was craving McDonalds and I hadbone bite of his cheeseburger and wanted to throw up. The grease just sat in my stomach and I didn't want to eat the rest of the day. Not that is your problem but just trying to eliminate any potential problems....

Stuck
I advise calling your dr and making an appointment, maybe you need a fill... Or maybe you need to reduce your calories. But that's where you started so go back to what you know. Good luck

Recommendations?
I used maalox for gas... And I walked. Back and forth from the bed to the door... Maybe 10 times an hour!! I was given liquid pain killer but I never took it. It wasn't that bad. I wish you all the best.

People Really Have No Idea About Wls Do They?
People love to think they know everything. I have a co worker in California who sees me once a year... He had no idea I had the band. Yet he said... So how did you lose weight. Did you get that surgery or something? I replied I did get a lap band and before I could add that the band is a tool and you still have to change your eating habits...he said... Oh well no wonder you lost so much weight. I just walked away. You just cannot fix ignorance .
