Idea Of What Weightloss Is Like For Others With The Band And How Many Calories Were You Told To Eat Each Day?
During my first 22 months I would eat 1000 calories a day. I lost 208 lbs. my dr suggest 1500 to start but I just couldn't consume that much food so my dr had me track everything for a month and he was fine with my loss. I averaged around 10 lbs each month...some more some less of course. Now I bumped it up to 1200 or so although my dr had me stop tracking it so I would learn to eyeball it and continue to lose. I am 8 lbs from my goal. I still eat 3-4 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch at meals although I usually don't finish the startch.

Optifast
I was also told to drink 5 per day for a total of 800 calories

5 Years Later
I am almost 2 years out and about 10 lbs from goal. I have been holding losing a pound or so in the past month or so. I just had a fill last week because I could feel myself needing one. I was at 5.7 ccs in April and perfectly happy. So last week he checked and I was only at 5ccs. He gave me a fill. He says it just evaporates sometimes faster then other times. I would make an appointment for a fill if it were me.

Boston Market Sweet Potatoes
I have never been to a Boston Market but now it makes sense why it was so high in calories...the topping and sugar... thanks for that info. I actually eat white potato several times each week since rice and Pasta arent easy for me to digest for whatever reason. I do limit all starches to 1/4 c whether it be baked, mashed or boiled. And I use butter too. Just a smidge.

Soup And Sandwich
I feel fine about soups. I eat them alot because I like them. They fill me up just fine. I wouldnt be able to eat a more then a bite of grilled cheese AND soup though... that would be too much food. I also would have to space out the timing... soup and sandwhich would be just like drinking with your meal.

Boston Market Sweet Potatoes
. Yes this is a time to heal.... You should be able to have enery, feel satisfied and lose all while healing. You need to start creating good habits.... I was merely pointing out that particular food was high in calories. I am sure you are following g your drs orders... Best of luck to you.

My First Consultation
I had to have my primary dr clear me for surgery, have a cardio work up, blood work and a psychological exam. At my first consult my dr spent a long time discussing what to expect, his list of do' s and dont's after the band and generally getting to know me.

New Me!
Congratulations! You are doing great!

1000 Calorie Diet
Every dr uses the diet they feel is best for their patient. If you are comfortable with your surgeon then trust him or her and be very happy you don't have to drink liquid fr 2 weeks Good luck

Stretching
Then I would most certainly call the dr. It maybe be a muscle but he would know for sure

Stretching
Are you sure it's not the port you feel? My dr says its almost impossible to feel the actual band. But it may be the port. It is stitched into the walls of the abdomen but you can feel it to the touch

What Is The Point
As the others said it is a healthy way of preparing your body for surgery, give you a head start on losing weight and it will teach you that food is fuel... You don't need to eat. You just need to get nutrition. If you cannot stick to the pre op diet I would wait until your head is in the game... Or you will not be successful. Best of luck!

Comfortable Weight (When And How)
I asked my Dr that same question. He said if I was losing too much weight after I hit my goal he'd adjust me so I couldnt do that. He said in over 600 surgeries it has only happened once. And thats because the gal had an eating disorder.

At Or Near Goal Question
I went in for a fill on Friday.... My BMI is 25 and the Dr said I could be done. I said...WHAT? You told me 150 was my # ... I was hoping for 160 and I am 168 now. He said... I am not saying not to lose any more. You will do that if you just concentrate on keeping it off... and if you lose 1-2 lbs a month so be it. I am so committed I went into a panic. I cannot relax until I meet my personal goal. But it made me I am in a 6/8 top and 10 bottom. I look amazing compared to 23 months ago. But I really want to hit this number for myself... He was just warning me not be obsessed and unrealistic. I am 52 years old. I have saggy skin and a few pockets of fat or skin or whatever it is several places on my body. I am not going to look like I am 20. I have to remember that. And since I was fat at 20... its a good thing.

Over Weight And Depressed:)
I cooked for my family the entire time. During the pre op liquid, during post op liquids and mushies and for the last 22 months as I lost pound after pound. In fact it was therapy for me... I would cook stuff I wanted to eat....but didnt! LOL After all the liquids You will be able to eat what they eat just a lot less of it. The band may be a good option for you. I would consult a surgeon and start gathering facts... Just remember... the band will do the majority of the work but you have to put in a lot of effort as well. Its not a magic potion! Good luck!

Did U Cheat?
I was on liquid for 2 weeks... 5 Optifast shakes a day. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. And also one of the most rewarding. I lost 22 lbs and was completely prepared for surgery and the 3 weeks of liquids and mushies following being banded. It seems there are several schools of thoughts on the pre op diets but I chose my Dr and decided to play by his rules. I didnt cheat. I have followed his orders to a T and have lost 209 lbs.

Am I On The High End Of Weight For This To Work?
I am only 5'9" but topped the scales @ 377 with a BMI of 55. I have been very successful but its wasnt without a lot of learning, dedication to myself and willpower. The band will do 70% of the work for you. You need to do the rest. And until you are in the green zone you need to be extra careful to eat the recommended amount of calories you need to lose or it won't happen since the band isnt performing at the optimum level yet. Best of luck to you!

What's One Thing Do You Plan On Doing To Help Yourself?
I have been trying to increase my step count to 10000 each day. So yesterday i decided to stop worrying about finding the closest parking spot. While running errands it occurred to me that I waste time looking for the one coveted spot closest to the store.... So I started parking further away. Now I will save gas and increase my step count for the day.

Hospital Stay
My surgery was out patient..so I was only in the hospital 7 hrs. I took my ID... They provided socks and anything else I needed...which wasn't much.
-
Hungry And Newly Banded
the soup slides straight down to the stomach so it would be lie you got full normally. It doesn't sit in your new baby stomach. The beginning stage after surgery tests your will power... Just knowing this will help you get through it.

Any One Fall Off The Wagon On Pre Op Diet
Besides the commitment I had with myself that was the #2 reason I didn't cheat.... I was scared to death to have a complicated surgery!!

Venting
I cannot add much more as so many folks in here said it well... But just think about this... When you are thin and healthy... Think about how good it will feel to run into your ex..... He will be so sorry he left you. and you will feel so good about yourself you will wonder why it didn't happen sooner. All the best to you!
