  1. I averaged 10 lbs a month. My dr didn't think it was too fast.
  2. Tuna, scrambled eggs, applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt are all good choices that aren't startch. I made sure not to eat more than a 1/4 c of startch at any meal.
  3. I would make sure to ask the dr ... I was on 1000 calories a day but that number may not work for you.
  4. YOur skin may sag no matter what you do.... The loss May slow down once you start on food more than likely.
  5. That might be a lofty goal... You want to weigh 100 lbs? I was 377. At one year I had Lost about 130 lbs. I am 23 months out from my preop diet and have lost 211 lbs. I am 6 or 16 lbs from goal depending on how I feel when I get there. I am 5'9".
  6. Iget the message in the post.....but I am a lot more beautiful since I got to know my scale..... Just saying.
  7. Mine was 10k in Tampa but then the hospital offered a reduction if i PAid it early so it ended up at $7250. It was worth every penny. And would have been even if Ended up paying the 10k....but that's just my opinion
  8. I had it....I don't have it anymore. I never though I woul lose it....but it's a thing of the past in my case
  9. I was allowed the sugar free Popsicles ...not the fat free ones,
  10. If you linger on this forum long enough you will see lots of similarities and differences in all kinds of things... The most common is the pre op diet dilemma . I don't know why the drs differ... But from what I have seen its best when you find a surgeon you trust and follow his orders to a tee.
  11. I always get the soup for a safe low calorie bet.... And grilled anything ...chick, pork, steak, shrimp is a good choice. Just eat slowly and enjoy the conversation and company and don't focus on what you can't eat. Have fun
  12. the first 4 days are the hardest. Drink lots of wter in addition to your shakes. There is nothing fuin about it...You have to tough it out! But I promise it gets better.
  13. I agree.... everyone is so different... but in my experience my Dr is stingy with fills because he doesnt want me too tight... so it took 3 or 4 fills to get to my sweet spot. I would say its was 4 months post op. 5ccs worked for a long time. Now that I have lost the majority of my weight I am at 5.7cc. I have a 10cc band.
  14. Check with your Dr but a warm bath mmight feel devine. I had one on my 4th day pre op and it felt wonderful.
  15. Like Mis73 I use a smart phone ap. Mine is Calorie Counter by Fat Secret. I just typed in mashed potatoes... there are restaurent mashed potatoes, boxed brand names...fresh but if you dont know but you just know they are instant lets say... you can get a general idea of the calorie count along with other nut info. Its not accurate but it should be close enough. There is 220 calories in a cup of mashed potatoes made from dry flakes. If they were fresh made with milk and butter 1 c is about 237 calories.
  16. thanks I am excited to have lsot the weight obviously...but am more excited now for the band to do its job and not let me gain it all back. But I just cannot overeat and i am making healthy choices now so I am not really worried about it.
  17. I cannot speak for anyone else. I can just tell you that in my opinion in order to be successfull you must control your eating.... even though this isnt a "diet"... if you want to lose weight before you reach the green zone and even after in my opinion.... you need to track your food and count calories. I am not saying other ways dont work...just telling you what worked for me. I limited myself to 1000 calories per day...every day no exceptions. I have lost 210 lbs to date. I am 7 or 17 lbs from goal depending on where I decide to stop. It has been less than 2 years all the best!
  18. lunch is 2 oz turkey , 6 wheat thins crackers, 1 oz havarti cheese and tomato.
  19. dont make yourself throw up.... just let it pass ... it will eventually. You may want to rethink chewing gun in the future tho....
  20. I was liquid only for my pre op diet so ....no crackers for me.
  21. I ate 1000 calories each day but that may not be a good number for you so check with the Dr. At each meal I tried to eat 300 calories in the following form: 3-4 oz protien, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 startch. That left 100 calories for a snack of fruit or whatever.
  22. Since we dont know each other I can only tell you from what you written it looks like we had a very different first year. I was at the dr monthly. I tracked everything I put in my mouth except toothpaste, I had several fills and no problems, and lost a boatload of weight. That said there is NO reason not to call the dr and get back on track. You already have the tool. You need to learn how to use it. While you are waiting for your appointment why don't you start tracking your calories and measuring your portions Because the band cannot work without you helping it out. All the best to you Good luck
  23. I am curious to know why they PA told you that. Maybe you can ask when you stop in to pick up your medical records to take to your new dr. Just a caution, if you are unhappy with your surgeon's staff you may want to discuss it with Him or her before you bail. But whatever you do do not go without a drs support. Find another before you make a move. Good luck
  24. Ditto ditto... . I just stick to a specific number of calories and proper portions and I am down 210 lbs in 23 mths
  25. There are several folks on here who have this procedure. I am not one of them. I just have the band and have been very successful. Best of luck as you consider your options
