Sounds likr you decided to make an investment in your health. Congratulations. I am self pay and did exactly that.... and went through the same struggles you did when forking over 10k. Post Surgery Recovery
Do not be surprised if you don't feel like eating or drinking much the first few days." it's normal. I had surgery at noon... Left the hospital at 7p but not until I drank 8 oz or water which was pretty darn hard. I went straight to bed and slept until morning. The next day I barely had more than a few spoonfuls of soup and maybe 8 oz of water... My dr said concentrate on the water and to just drink as much as I could. By day 2 I was up to 30 oz of water...soup and some apple juice. It wasn't until day 4 that I was able to drink 8 glasses of water.

Down 26 Pounds In 3 1/2 Weeks
It does get easier but every once in a while I find myself wishing I could eat a chicken wing dripping in bleu cheese dressing....like the gal sitting across from me at the restaurant I went to tonight. Then she got up to use the restroom and I got a reality check. Those 12 wings she ingested attached themselves right to her bottom. I just smiled to myself and my husband reminded me it wasn't the place for my lap band lecture. Lol ( I am kidding about that last part... I would never approach a stranger about dieting.....) I am not kidding about really wanting that wing.

Sorry To Have To Ask This Nut Just Curious If This May Have Happened To You
I was 50 when I was banded. I was normally cycling. I had my surgery ...Then nothing.... I waited a few months..even took a pregnancy test because I obviously am in denial or my age...lol but finally I went to the obgyn and she said the surgery may have pushed up my menopause a bit. Then 16 months later I got a period for 2 days... Then nothing again so I went back to my obgyn and she did all kinds of tests and I was in fact post menopausal.... However she thinks the blending was a result of some fibroids shrinking and breaking down as they do after menopause. If I were you just keep track and maybe see your dr again for a check up.

Painful Walking. How Do You Do It ?!
I started at 377 pounds. I dont have any knee issues but it was a chore to walk more than 5 minutes without sweating and being out of breath, so I started walking to the mailbox and many times as I could... In the evening. Then I decided I was street ready and I would walk in the evening. For safety I just walked a short distance as many times as i could. After i lost the first 100 i started walking after dinner and it was summer so still daylight out. I would set the alarm on my phone for 15 minutes and turn around when it went off so I was getting in 30 minutes. Today I could walk all day if I had too.... You will get there. Best of luck!

Craving French Fries! Help
Ask yourself the following question. Is 5 minutes of eating French fries worth compromising my band and my health? If the answer is yes..... which I bet it wont ...then go ahead and eat them. But the fact that you posted the question tells me you are thinking about your choices which is a great thing. I had post it notes on my computer, my dash, my mirrors...for the first few months u til I got restriction.... Whenever I got the urge I would look at them and think... I really don't want it... I want it because I cannot have it. And as a side note I was about a year out and hubby and I were on a road trip and he drove thru McDonalds... I got a grilled chicken salad and thought... I just want one french fry. So I ate it... It was the first grease I'd eaten in a year. 5 minutes later he was pulling over so I could get rid of it. My band rejected it BIG time.

2 Years Post Surgery
I too am almost 2 yrs post op... I am 23 BMI and 162 lbs in the mornings. I have lost 215 lbs and gon from 2 x tops to small or 4/6 and 4x bottoms to 8/10 I had 150 in my lofty dream category and I may get there but I am happy with my body now so if I don't I am ok with it. My friends and family tell me I am done... Since I am tall I suppose the 162 looks thinner than it really is... but I am on a mission to maintain and I know that will be a lifelong battle. I am Hopi g the ba d will do its job and it will be easier than I expect. But I have some rippling on my thighs and arms, the girls resemble a tube sock with a golf ball inside and my tummy while thankfully isn't horrible could use a little tug...so my belly button will stop sagging. My legs and ankles are still thick but that's hereditary although getting the skin remove might help. THat said...I am very proud of my accomplishment as I am sure you are as well. It's been fun shopping for the new wardrobe...maybe a little too much...lol Congrats on your success from someone who knows how good you feel!

New Puppy?
I wouldn't have been interested or capable in caring for a puppy the week after surgery..... It was 2 weeks before I felt normal.... But that's just me.

Why In The World Did I Let It Get This Bad
Donna.... As you are learning we do not have to have a husband to make us whole. There is a whole new world out there for you. It's yours for the taking. All the best as you embark on this wonderful new phase of your life.

Compliments
Accepting a compliment is really very easy. Just smile and say thank you and move on if you don't want to engage in conversation about the specifics of your loss. Once you get down several sizes I bet you won't have any trouble. Enjoy!

Slip Or To Full?
Lettuce is tough to digest....Burping is pretty normal... I don't know how to tell if the band slipped but I would speak with your dr if you are getting sick. I am not sure if you mean flu or cold sick or sick to your stomach.

Anyone Try The Rx Phentermine And The Band?
Instead of drugs.... Why not do as you did before you got in The green zone the first time... Count calories and weigh your food. You know you will lose weight.

Help!!!
My take is..... If you bend the rules on the pre op diet.... Then you are setting yourself up to fail after you are banded. It's just my humble opinion but if you are in the mindset of doing whatever it takes to be successful.... I would skip the wine for now. Have fun at the wedding.... It's possible even tho you will be alcohol free.

A Little Discouraged...suggestions?
I agree with Missy.... I too am a calorie counter. I track everything except toothpaste and when I hit 1000 for the day I am done, I also measure my portions... 3/4 oz Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c startch every meal eaten in that order.... If you start doing that you might be surprised at how much you might be eating....

Starting Pre Op Liquid Diet
its horrible..... but a pre op liquid diet is so Important in my opinion You will learn that food is fuel... You don't need to ingest food to survive....just nutrition After the first few days of hell ... Being on liquid will not be so bad and it will prepare you for being on liquid after surgery You are preparing your liver for a successful surgery You will lose weight if you stick with it which is motivating in itself! Best of luck!!

If You Have No Restriction...
From what I under stand an unfilled band still offers restriction...just not as much as when it's filled.

At The Casino!
You have been banded a month. Why would you sabatoge all the work you have done this month? Besides the fact that alcohol has no redeeming nutritional value...it has empty calories, why not save it for when you reach a mini goal in a few months? I made my goal 100 lbs which was about half way. It was good but honestly... Not worth the calories. Now that I am almost to goal I will be a lot less strict with myself but still find I don't want to waste the calories.... this from a girl that enjoyed happy hour a few times a week with friends and family.... Not a drunk by any means but it wasn't uncommon to have 2 cocktails 3x a week in social situations. Now I just order Water with a twist or a glass of wine and sip it for 2 hrs.
