  1. The weight didn't go on in a day or a month and taking 20 lbs off in 30 days is quite and achievement. Why not set little goals for yourself... I made mine in ten pound increments because to think of losing 217 lbs was too overwhelming. All but 2 months i beat or exceeded my goal. And the 2 times i didnt average ten lbs in a month i ended up making it up the next month. So now here I am... 2 lbs from goal and 23 months later.... And I decided to go another ten lbs to 150. Go figure!! Best of luck to you
  2. You have done amazing.... It's taken me almost 2 years to lose 215 lbs and I too worry when I get to goal in a month or so that I will gain it all back. But I comfort myself knowing that the band will work for me if I listen to it. this hasn't been like every other diet I have been on. No fad foods, no pills, no gimmicks....just healthy eating, calorie counting and portion control. I believe I can do this for the rest of my life.
  3. Best of luck! Congratulations on your decision to change your life
  4. I think I am the last hold out to join Facebook so I don't know what I am missing but I think the draw to LBT is that getting banded is the single most important thing I have done for myself other then getting my education and it's fun to read about like minded people and get tips, tricks, advice and support from people who share this journey.
  5. I just returned from a week in the Caribbean.... I have lost 215 lbs and I am clocking in at 162. I wear a 8/10 or medium on the bottom and 6/8 or small on top. I am 5'9"'and I felt like the largest girl on the beach. Now I know deep down I wasn't and I could easily identify heavier people than me but still I would look at someone and say to hubby...gee I want to be her size and he would say... You are!!! I don't know when that stops.... If anyone has the secret... I am all ears. PS I lost 3 lbs on vacay!
  6. It was 50 in Tampa this morning.... Brrr but at least it shouldnt hang around too long.... Back to high 70s low 80s this weekend I think.
  7. me too... and I am almost 2 years out and have been very successful.,... but I have played by the rules, counted every calorie that went in my mouth and never missed a monthly Dr appointment. I am on the administrative side of the medical professionan and I did lots of research on the internet as well talking with people in the know and I was told over and over...medically there are less problems with the long term results of the band. As for its effectivness... thats really up to the individual. I have a gal in my office who was banded 2 weeks after me. She lost 70 lbs the first year and put back 30 becasue she stopped going to the Dr, ignored that she needed fills and basically quit her dieting. And it is dieting in my opinion. Until you get to the point of maintainence... then the band can really shine! Best of luck in your decision.
  8. The first month until I was on solids I used a single serving packet of a fiber supplement 2x each day mixed in diet hot cocoa, tea or even water. You cannot taste it, smell it or even know its there. It kept me quite regular.
  9. It was about 2 weeks before I felt like normal. Its gets better I promise! Good luck
  10. I am not in KY but have you contacted your Dr? Most have monthly support groups which can be of great benefit if you are struggling. Beat of luck
  11. you are a week out so your body is all confused.... please dont drink the carbonation... it can do damage to your band. Have you tried maloxx or gasx? They both come in liquid? Also as CHEZNOEL said...you may be drinking too much too fast... remember during this time to just sip sip sip. You will feel better soon
  12. You should listen to your dr's advice but for the record I eat 3 oz of protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c startch for each meal. Since I do not usually finish it all I eat it in that order.
  13. No problems for me....I too take a multi vitamin for what its worth. You migh have something else going on... best to check with a dentist and your Dr.
  14. I dont mind at all. I am happy to help. Now that I am so close to goal I am not as strict and am more in the maintaining mode...but I am still losing just not as fast. A typical day for me was pretty simple... I eat regular food. I do not cook and special recipies... just smaller portions. I was avid about tracking my food in a food ap and counting calories. I ate 1000 calories each day for 22 months. Every once in a while I would up it to 1200 if I was stalled but that was only for a day or so. A typical day looks like this: Breakfast - sugar free instant breakfast w/ skim milk ( I dont do morning food well) Morning snack - fruit lunch- 3 oz of tuna packed in Water, drained & mixed with fat free dressing instead of mayo. / 6 wheat thins crackers / 1/2 c veggies or salad afternoon snack - sugar free pudding cup dinner - 3-4 oz Protein (pork, fish, chicken or beef) / 1/2 c veggies, 1/4 c starch I have a hard time finishing the meals so I always eat the protein first... then the veggies and finally the starch. I rarely had an evening snack but if I did it was 1 oz cheese. sugar free popsicle or 100 calories of popcorn.
  15. All of the posters offered great advice, I just wanted to add that if your dr isn't Interested in helping you please find one who will. The are out there.
  16. Every once in a while the body just stalls and you have to find all your motivation and wait it out. I would trick it and eat a little more than normal for a day and then up the water the Next day and resume my 1000 calories ... It worked every time to get the scale moving.
  17. I am post menopausal and I didn't exercise much so I have hanging skin. I just spent a week on vacay in the caribbean and I would get out of the Water and my thighs resembled a sharpei dog..my boobs needed duct tape so they wouldnt sag below the suit and my belly button frowns .. But... I wore a bikini...size 8 thank you very much and I looked wonderful in all my new clothes and I just have to decide if I want to take that drastic surgery step. Can I live without it? Absolutely. Do I want to not have bat wings and sharpei thighs.... It would be nice. So I am going to go for a consultation and get th info I need to make a rational decision.
  18. That's is fabulous!! Congrats
  19. I don't understand your situation but if it were me I would track my calories and eat a specific number...mi e was 1000 every day and you will lose weight until the band starts doing its job. Good luck
  20. I had a ball...in spite of the hurricane which left 2/3 of the island of jamaica with out water and power but the resort had provisions and a generator so once the weather cleared it was fine... Unless you left the confines of the resort of course...
  21. Congrats on your find.... Glad it works for you.... I allow myself 1/4 c starch each meal so I will stick to the real thing.
  22. . I can relate totally. When I started this journey my measurements were 44/42/77. Size 4x on the bottom.I am now 34/28/37. Size medium or 8/10 on bottom now. Evidentially I am not as much of a pear as I thought I was. But I still have fat thighs...actually now it's just flabby skin, knees and ankles. It's horrible to have come this way and still deal with it... But I am going to make a conscience effort to exercise and see if that will tighten it up a bit. You are exercising during your journey which I did not so I bet you will not have all the flab. Keep doing what you are doing! I live in a warm climate so winters weren't an issue but I did where lots of leggings and tunics last winter which a forgiving to heavy bottom gals.
  23. Just returned from a week's vacation and jumped on the scale first thing..... mostly Because I had scale withdrawal ..lol. Since I am close to goal I am not as strict as I was with myself the first 22 months but the band must be working because I made proper choices, kept my portions normal...well normal for a bandster and drank lots of Water... And I actually lost weight. Very cool. I recall last year losing on vacation too but since I was only down 1/2 way I was very strict...no cheating on that vacation but I will let you in a secret... This year I had a few bites of dessert and a few adult beverages poolside and yet I still lost. I love my band!
  24. I think the first thing to address is Why have you gained 50 lbs back in a year? Your father while seemingly being critical may be just worried about you and doesn't know how to express himself. Maybe sit down and talk to him about his concerns and the. Have a conversation with. Your self and your dr about your gain. Bst of luck to get back on track.
