Today is the Day
It's so nice that you were both there at the same time. I am so glad to hear you're both doing well. The staff there is so great!

Got an ice-Cream Maker?
Yeah, that Greek yogurt is expensive and I have never found it in very big containers. I should run out and find me an ice cream maker. It sounds wonderful.

New here and thankful
I am always glad to see people who post over at that other board come over here and start posting. I think this board and the people are fantastic. I don't know any of the people over there, but I find that site difficult to navigate. Congratulations on your weight loss. It's nice to see some more people who aren't newly sleeved in case people like me have questions. I can't seem to get it through my head that I can't eat as much as I could with the band.

I've been sleeved
I chewed gum the first day when I could not have Water and Dr. Campos had a fit. He said it would be very dangerous if I swallowed it. I assured him that I have never swallowed my gum. It was very helpful to relieve the dry mouth, until I could have water. I am so glad you're on the road to recovery. Now you get to start the wonderful clear liquid phase. So glad everything went smoothly!

Home and recovering
I am so sorry to hear you had a leak. I am glad to hear you're doing better! I can't remember, who did your surgery? That goes to show how important it is to have this surgery done in a hospital and not a clinic.

Protein Powders
I don't think my taste has changed since surgery. I still crave sweets but I know that's all in my head. I am not hungry, but I still like the same things. I still like Muscle Milk light, which WasA hates. I am anxious to try the lean dessert when I get out of Arizona. I will report back on that Monday. I can also look in my cupboard for that clear brand that you said the twisted cherry is a good flavor. I can't remember the name of it and dont' know where you got it, Mac.

Lap Band vs Sleeve
WasA explained it exactly right. I know many many people who have had gastric bypass and I can count the people on one hand who have not gained most or all of their weight back.

Soon to have the sleeve
I only had pain meds in my IV the first day. The other time they gave me something under my toungue for a headache. I think it was Toradol . That leak test stuff does taste horrid but it's over with quickly. Everyone remember to brush your teeth as soon as you're done and you won't even remember how badly it tasted, just that it wasn't much fun.

Protein Powders
What is the name of that clear liquid that you order online. For the life of me, I can't remember and I have been trying to think of it for days. It's that one made by the company that wanted you to work for them. Sytrex? The stuff I tasted wasn't bad.

A newbie
I could not be happier that this board is here. I had my surgery only about 6 weeks ago. I am still learning how to eat with the sleeve, but it's felt really great not to be obsessed about food anymore.

Quiche!
I had quiche in a restaurant that was very good and it was made with swiss cheese and chopped up broccoli. They do have low fat swiss cheese. I hate eggs but I am going to try making this and making it with swiss cheese. Thanks Elizabeth!

Is the sleeve a second WLS surgery for most?
MacMadame had the sleeve as her only wls and has lost over 100 lbs.

Protein, Protein, How to get in all of my protein...
Protein drinks. You can get at least 20 grams in a Protein Drink. You'll have to find one you like though. I have heard good things about the Lean Dessert that you can order from vitacost.com. I also really like the Peanut Butter chocolate whey gourmet that you can order from Netrition.com

Lap Band vs Sleeve
will keep fingers crossed. The band is just plain a bad idea for anyone. It may be great at first, but the complications always seem to come down the road.

Protein Powders
I got mine at GNC

A New Home - Sleeve People!
I can't help out with that one. Not that I am a long timer. I could guzzle water immediately and it was really hard for me to go slow and try to drink only a little bit of fluid at a time.

Two New Discoveries (at least new to me)
That's great! I think I can handle 1 on the sugar alcohol. I wish they would just get rid of that stuff. More things are supposed to come out with stevia.

Soon to have the sleeve
I was so amazed at how quickly I recovered. Now that am all done with the post op diet, learning to eat after being sleeved is not quite as easy.

Protein Powders
Can you not add unflavored protein powder to the punch?
-
All liquids
What flavor did you order? I am excited to try mine when I get back to Oregon. I have heard all the flavors are really good though.

Two New Discoveries (at least new to me)
no, the Walmart here did not have them. They did not even have the fudge brownie ones I get in Oregon. That would be really nice of you to do that! I will wait until I get back to Oregon to see if my regular Walmart has them. They do not give you gas?

Lap Band vs Sleeve
the important thing for people to know who think RNy is better is that the sleeve stomach is made from the muscular part of the stomach which does little stretching. I lost count of the number of people I know who had gastric bypass and has gained all or nearly all of their weight back from stretching out "the pouch" Be prepared if you get the sleeve , to get full really fast and you are DONE.

Since you asked...
Now that you talk about it, I remember what you are talking about. I just thought it was because the person was not deleting the pm they were responding to.

A New Home - Sleeve People!
I suggest that anyone you eat around frequently knows about your surgery if you are comfortable telling them. It's even harder to hide than eating with a band, if your band was not making you puke. I was able to hide my band surgery pretty easily, because I was only having band problems right before my sleeve surgery. My brother is so into himself that he didn't notice that I only ate a few bites every time we went out to dinner this past few days. I have so many to go cartons in the fridge that I have no more room to put anymore Luckily, my daughter knows all about my surgery. We went out to dinner tonight, and there was no way I was going to order a meal when I knew I could only eat 5 bites tops.

Chat Room
I will be! I am so happy to get this news. Living with the sleeve is a real learning experience and I think the chat room will be extremely beneficial! I wish had internet access in my dad's house.
