  1. I had an AT&T connection the first hour I was there, then it went to roaming. Dr. A told me to walk over to the fence, turn off my phone and then turn it back on again, and I should be able to pick up AT&T again, but it did not work. I kept telling people to stop calling me as I was paying .99 per min. I had a huge phone bill when I got home.
  2. I wish my friend would have an endoscopy to find out why she is nauseous all the time and why she can hardly eat or drink. For the most part, this is rare. There are way more people who say they wish they had done it sooner.
  3. Ruthi you sound just like me. I only had pain the night of the surgery from the gas pain in the left shoulder. By morning it was gone and I was bored. I didn't know anyone so I just played on Dr. Campos' computer and went walking around outside trying to get my cell phone to work. I could have easily gone back to work on Monday but went back tues. I had a lot of trouble sipping Water and liquids because I just wanted to guzzle it down. It was hard to sip and not drink fast. I drank everything they gave me, and tried to force myself to go slow. I really felt like I didn't have surgery either, other than during the night of surgery day.
  4. Thanks! The weather was perfect in Arizona and the weather stinks here on the Oregon coast, but I am still glad to be home. My DIL is in labor and my new grand daughter is coming early. I would have hated to be gone for that. They induced labor because she her blood pressure is too high. I can't spell pre eclamsia!
  5. yeah, I was planning on doing that. My dad had a great lawyer who handled his case when he was tripped at the movie theater by an employee. I talked to him all the time because my dad didn't want to talk to him. He wanted me to do his talking for him. He told me his partner was an estate probate attorney. I didn't have the # in Arizona with me because I thought I was going for a visit, not a funeral. I already called him today. What do you do in the legal field? I work for an attorney as well.
  6. I am glad you found us here. I really think this board is so much easier to navigate. There are a lot of people at OH, but I find it difficult to follow the posts because of the way it is set up. It's really easy to fall into the snacking mode. There is so much junk food at my job, it's very difficult to ignore it. Even with the sleeve, it takes willpower not to give into eating in between meals. Luckily for me, if I don't watch what I eat, it doesn't take long before my pants won't fit. I refuse to go out and buy bigger size pants. I do better telling myself I am on a diet. Some people say it's not a diet, it's a new way of eating healthy. That does not work for me. I can eat healthy foods, but in order for me to stay away from snack foods, I have to tell myself "no, you're on a diet" I am not far from goal weight because I only gained back 15 lbs when I had my band removed, but I know I will never get where I want to be if I eat in between meals.
  7. sounds like you have a good surgeon. From what I have read, complications with the sleeve are rare. I am really glad I had my band taken out. I was really afraid the band would damage my stomach and then I would not be able to have a sleeve. The sleeve is so much easier to live with.
  8. I find it amusing to watch the other people eat. I watch them eat and wonder where they are putting it.
  9. I would never go for an RNY. I know so many people that had it done and gained all or most of their weight back. The RNY does not use the same part of the stomach that they make the sleeve from. The sleeve stomach does not stretch because they use the muscular part of the stomach. I was banded for nearly 2 years before the vomiting in my sleep began. it didn't take me long to want that band out as soon as possible to get the sleeve. I am really glad I did.
  10. Glad you found us. We need more people who are not quite a new as me. I never thought I would run off to Mexico by myself either, but I am sure glad I did!
  11. I hope you get some answers soon. I am curious to hear what could be causing the nausea and vomiting.
  12. another band to sleeve revision person here. I am so glad to be rid of that band. I wish I had known about the sleeve from the beginning, but I am so glad I finally did find out about it .I love the sleeve and I love never being hungry.
  13. I would never make it if I baked for a living. Sweets are my big downfall. Glad you found us!
  14. I do believe the paperwork I came home with from Dr. Aceves office said to try to stick with around 800 calories per day. I am not hungry so I usually have a protein drink for breakfast and lunch and some sort of meat with a few veggies for dinner.
  15. I got the Lean Dessert brand from vitacost.com It's choc. coconut. It's not bad but it's not great either. It's thick even made with Water, if you like your shakes thicker. It's not gritty. One scoop is 20 grams of Protein and 130 calories. I think the next time I do a vitacost order, I'll try the banana bread flavor. So far my favorite is still whey gourmet Peanut Butter chocolate.
  16. yes, let us know how it is going. Are you having trouble getting your liquids in?
  17. I sort of miss having big meals with my friends and family. But I still go out and socialize with them. It's nice not to have to stuff myself to do that.I either share a meal, or order something from the appetizer menu. I have a card that says I had weight loss surgery, which allows me to order off the senior menu or the children's menu. I usually bring food home, but that's a good thing. I don't like to cook so I always have something left over in the fridge from eating out. Anit depressants are known to cause insomnia. That's one of the reasons I got off of them. Maybe there is a different one that you could take that won't cause that as much. Give yourself time. You just barely had surgery. You will enjoy buying smaller clothes, and all the other different things that come along with weight loss. Have you talked to your surgeon about not being able to eat if you drink Water? That does not sound right to me. In time your new stomach should stretch a little so you can eat a little bit more.
  18. Now I can get on the right food plan and get down to business. It's been the last 2 weeks of hell in my life. I am glad WasA sugested I get my surgery early, and she was right. My dad needed me. It would not have been good if they had to track me down on my cellphone. If would also been difficult to follow the post op diet plan over the last few weeks. Nobody in my family knows about this surgery, other than my friends here and couple in real life.:thumbup1:
  19. I borrowed Dr. Campos' lap top every day I was there. It was a lifesaver. he is good about letting people borrow it. Ask Sergio.
  20. I am not sorry, but it is a big change. You can only eat a few bites of hard protein and it's got to be chewed up very well in itty bitty pieces. It can be difficut to move to solids after liquids and mushies, but we must learn to eat slower, take tiny bites and chew chew and chew somemore. If I do that, it's easy.
  21. They tell me my recovery was so easy because I have been doing crunches every day for the last 5 years. I get the muscles are strong or something. I am excited to get back to the gym I miss working out. I am grumpy when I don't get my gym time.
  22. Well I finally found the safety deposit box key. It was in his travel bag that I decided to take the airport to put my lap top in. A lot of good it did for me to find it on a Sunday when the banks were closed. I advise everyone not to put off making wills and making sure you have beneficiars on any bank accounts. This is going to be a big mess to straighten out. I am really glad I dragged my parents screaming and kicking their way to an attorney's office to make me power of attorney and have wills drawn up. I can't even imagine what a worse mess this would all be if the hadn't done that. They insisted it was not necessary because my name was on everything , but it turns out it was not. It could be months to get it straighten out, and the bills are rolling in.
  23. Whey Protein is supposed to be a better protein. It's more easily absorbed and give you more bang for the buck, is what I have been told. nectar is a good clear protein made my Syntrax. YOu have to order it online. IT comes in different flavors. I remember Mac saying she liked Twisted cherry.
  24. Thanks for posting that picture. It's adorable. i am so glad you were all there at the same time. That's so great! You'll feel better really soon. I guess I don't know how lucky I was that I could drink a lot of liquid without pain right from the beginning. I wonder why that is.
