    Funny NSV

Ok, today I had to stop my husband from walking out of the house....in a pair of my skinny jeans. Bahahahahaha! This would NEVER have happened in my size 22 days. He's like....Ok, I thought they fit weird, but I couldn't figure out why. D'Oh!

My surgeon presented me with both options then steered me toward the bypass. I'm glad he did. I don't think I would have been happy at all with a sleeve. GERD-potential, permanent removal of a portion of my stomach (what if the surgeon removed too much?) The bypass isn't called the "gold standard" for nothing. What's the sleeve called? The Regret?

    12 week results are in

I had my 3 month check up today ( 12 week mark ) . I was hoping to be at 70 lbs loss. I am at 73 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited. Also Nutritionist said ok to eat some summer melon, berries, tomato , cucumber if I feel I can tolerate it. She said introduce one at a time see how I do. So excited to have some fresh fruit again, especially now in the summer. Go back in 12 weeks for my 6 month check up. My Goal for myself is 100 lb loss total.... and get my A1C to 5.5 ok...............I am on my way..........

It's not unusual to see people regretting the sleeve and wishing they'd gone with the bypass because of GERD, but I don't see anyone wishing they'd gotten the sleeve after they went with the bypass. If anyone out there went with RNY and wish they'd gone with VSG, I'd love to hear why you feel that way.

Everything I've tried has been really good. I, too, LOVE the salad dressing, especially the raspberry vinaigrette. I'm not sure you can beat the flavor for what the calories are!

    Sleeve pain

It could be a stricture, it could be irritation from acid reflux? If it continues for 2 or 3 more months I would ask to be scoped or barium swallow. Try warm liquid just before eating so see if it relaxes the stomach muscle some.

    Challenge for the Pre Ops

I would LOVE to share recipes. There are posts here and there that have them... but if there was one, on going one, that you could go to for inspiration, that would be AMAZING!

FWIW - I drink my coffee black. Always have. Partially as a result of that, there was full caffeinated coffee on my tray day after surgery. I had a few sips and was in heaven. My team's approach is if you don't add extra calories to it (e.g. cream and sugar) and you aren't bothered by the acid - have at it but try to keep it to 1 cup a day early on. I'm 23 months out. I drink roughly 32 ounces of black coffee almost every day. Doesn't bother me. Doesn't bother my team. I was told I could experiment with alcohol at 6 months. I waited on the booze, with the exception of sipping some wine at toasts at weddings I had to go to before that point. My rule on alcohol is that I have met all my protein and water goals and I have calories left in my daily allotment, I can have a drink. Again, that has been ok with my team and has worked for me.

Man, take two inches off my height, and give or take a month, and I feel like I'm your surgery twin. I'm also a little over half way to goal. I, too, was a doubter this would work for me because I failed so miserably on the lap-band. I'm going at a snail's pace at about a pound and a half a week, but I haven't had a stall yet. Everything you expressed is exactly how I feel. I eat much less than I used to, but I'm not starving and I know this is a new lifestyle I can live with. I'm so very happy I did this for myself.
