    Tracking vs mindful/intuitive eating?

Right after surgery I weighed and measured everything to make sure that I was getting the correct amounts. After I learned what those amounts looked like on a plate I moved more to intuitive eating. Before I take my first bite I make a plan in my head how much I'm going to eat and also try to pace myself slowly if I'm eating with other people at the table.

stretching out your stomach is pretty rare - you'd have to REALLY overstuff it day after day to do that. Liquids for sure wouldn't do it - they pretty much go right through you.

Mindful eating works for SOME, but many of us can't "intuitively" know what eating an amount of calories that will keep us at a good weight feels like. And, in the end, our weight depends mostly on the amount of calories you consume. Whether you count them or not. The only times in my life I've ever lost weight have been when I'm counting calories. I don't trust my intuition.

Those powder protein shake mixes do seriously suck. I'm a fan of Fairlife shakes now. It's basically just ultra filtered milk. So it tastes whey (way) 😂 better.

    RNY GB to DS Revision

Hi! I'm new here, I just googled "Weight Loss Surgery Discussion Boards" and this is the first site that popped up. I hope I'm in the right place... I had Open RNY GB in May of 2002. My weight the morning of surgery was 310lbs. I lost over 100 lbs in the first 10 months and got down to my lowest weight of 153lbs about 2 years after surgery. I was feeling fabulous! However, over the years, I was able to maintain at about 170-180lbs consistently, until I gave birth to my son in 2012. After he was born, I wasn't able to lose all of the weight I gained during pregnancy. I was around 200 - 205 lbs at my lowest after he was born. But, due to some other life circumstances and traumatic life experiences that happened to me in 2016, I have gained back over 100lbs and am now sitting at about 268lbs. I'm crushed. In May 2021 I decided to research revisions and found a surgeon in my area (St. Louis, MO) who specializes in revisions and I found out that I am a candidate for a revision to Duodenal Switch. After meeting with a dietician for 6 months, psychologist, primary care physician, etc. I'm finally having my revision next week... April 14, 2022!! I'm so scared and nervous this time around. I don't know what to do or where to go. I wasn't this nervous before my first surgery and I think it's because I didn't have as much to lose back then when I was 21. Now I have a 10 year old son who is everything to me and I'm terrified that if something goes wrong, he won't have a mom. Has anyone else in the forum gone through this and if so, can you please share your experience with me?

I haven't lost any more hair or thinned hair more than it already was due to thyroid issues. I didn't have dry skin either post -WLS. I've tried everything: biotin pills, Rogaine, Nioxin . . . none if it helped.

You have nothing to worry about. Get in the liquids and protein. Your stomach will not stretch like that... liquids tend to go from your stomach to your small intestine in less than 30 minutes.

    Keeping up with liquids

It could be a number of things but I have sorted some stuff out. I also got the info on this forum. I take medication for it an hour before I eat or drink in a morning. Some times its your vitamins that do it. I couldn't take gummy vitamins at all. I have multivitamins and iron , twice a day. One after breakfast and one before bed at night. The plate sized calcium tablet, I take after lunch. Such a treat isn't it . I have also sorted out my constipation too with those delicious powders. I get lots of liquids in too. So what cured me ? I dont know but I did all this and poof I am nearly cured. Also some people have nausea because of the sweetener in the protein shakes. You may need to shop around for one that suits you. I hope you sort it out soon.

    Keeping up with liquids

I had to keep a bottle of fluid in my hand all the time, and I had to keep rotating them so they were iced cold. I still don't really like water unless it is iced cold. I drink a lot of iced coffee and hot tea, as well as water mixed with flavor packets. Don't worry in the first few weeks if you don't get 60+ g of protein. Focus on the fluid first. That can get you messed up first, dehydration. Several posters here have mentioned juices, but I wasn't allowed to have sugar, so I found sugar free juices (5 calories per 8 oz serving) that I really like.

I'm struggling with internalized fatphobia. I am getting much better as I've lost weight, actually. I was bullied growing up, and my grandmother, whom I loved more than anyone, would tell me I had "such a pretty face"... which we all know is code for you're fat. I had a guy break up with me (after I had lost 100 lbs) because I wasn't his ideal body type. Now I'm terrified to even consider dating. (Although there are a lot of issues there...) My family and friends have always been supportive, but my mom always has been a bit of a "concern troll." ("I'm scared for you!")
