    Setback

I had VGS in March 2019. I was doing good but then got severely under weight. I have since done the exact opposite and about 30 pounds over weight. I’m terrified that I have stretched my pouch and that I’m never going to get the weight back off.

Excited to be new to the group

Hello and welcome. I see you already have a bariatric therapist which would have been my advice. I struggle with boredom eating and I am still trying to find a good therapist in my area to help with this. I’m losing but it’s more of a struggle than it would be without disordered eating issues (I assume). I have found bariatric pal to be a wonderful source Of support and hope you will too.

2 weeks post op - not feeling full

Most likely you will feel restriction when you get to soft food and regular foods. Most people don’t feel it untill then. I was able to eat more than expected at every given stage so it’s possible for that to happen too but it’s not common. It’s best to just measure foods until you feel the restriction kick in and make sure to go slow to allow it time to kick in.

I am not a physician, clearly lol but I would…I was told to try to reach 64 ounces of liquid a day.

    Everything

I have a lot to lose, and if I am successful, there definitely will be lots of extra skin. I'm already planning for plastic surgery as long as I am deemed healthy enough for it. Since it will be expensive, I've already started saving money. If I wind up being miraculously lucky on the skin front, then I'll repurpose the money elsewhere. 🙂 For birth control, I can't help there as I take the mini-pill (no estrogen). I wonder, can they narrow down what your allergic reaction was caused by? There are many different types of oral contraception so not all formulations should have the same effect. I'd also note that many non-pill formulations also have hormones in them (most IUDs, implants) so knowing what specifically caused the allergic reaction would be good to know as you look at those options as well.

You are never too far gone. ❤️ There is a lot going on in your world and several factors at play. First of all, remember that some amount of regain is pretty normal. Most WLS patients do not stay at their lowest weight for long, so that may just be where your body has settled. Have you had labs done recently? Burning Mouth Syndrome is sometimes linked with nutritional deficiencies, which WLS patients are at increased risk for, so there may be some overlap there. Stick to the foods you can comfortably and safely eat, while focusing on protein and fluids as much as possible. Try and work in some movement when you can. Recruit help if you can. And prioritize your own health & wellness. You are the only YOU your family has and you deserve health & happiness.

    Everything

Wow! Your everything sure has a lot of stuff in it! JK those are all legitimate questions & things we all worry about pre-op. Some things to take into consideration is your starting weight & your age. The more you have to loose, the more excess skin you will have. If you are older, it might be harder for you to tone things up. The main thing is finding an exercise thing you can stick with! For me that has been Pilates. But even after doing Pilates 369 times I still have bat wings. I have always had a “poofy” stomach no matter how much I weigh, even at 100 pounds in my early 20’s. I would love to have a tummy tuck, but someone would have to die for that to happen so I will go without one. My daughter has that implant thing in her arm. She had a bypass just over 3 years ago (when she was 22) & has lost over 150. She has done great. I had a bypass to correct a failed surgery I had 12 years prior to control GERD that had failed. Because of this I have to take a Previcid for the rest of my life. As long as I don’t over eat (more then 3oz) & I don’t have spicy food the GERD stays under control. Today we ate lunch at a new place. But my husband & I both got heartburn! So we won’t be eating there again!

I had a sleeve 7 years ago and wish I would have known about the high prevalence of damage due to acid reflux after the sleeve. I now need to revise to bypass to stop the damage from getting worse. If you have any history at all of reflux, I'd be talking to your doctor about doing a bypass instead Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app

I usually can have some fruits per day. And fruits and veggies are great with fiber, helps relieve constipation. So no issue there. I was just curious how everyone did their thing. And yeh I am aware of your ultra low carb intake, we had this discussion on another thread. Just not sure how you did it 😂 I mean how did you manage to get your protein in 400 to 500 calories? Mostly protein shakes? I can't do Keto. I remember trying it few years before surgery, but I ahve hard time limiting carbs. As in I can't eliminate fruits completely from my diet for a true blue Keto diet (under 20 grams). I don't find Keto as sustainable for me personally. Hence I opted for surgery since it doesn't ask you to restrict any food group per se!
