    Food

It’s a personal choice. How does it fit in with your daily nutrient allowances, caloric goals & macros? You could always make your own to cut back on the sugars & fats & have better control over the dried fruit & other ingredients. I’m a traditional rolled oats person. Add my own seeds & fresh blueberries. Make it with milk & get 15g of protein per serve & 0.4g naturally occurring sugar from the oats (& about 15g naturally occurring sugar from the milk not sure what from the blueberries). It is high carb but oats are a whole grain & a high quality carb - helps keep you regular too.

Hi Sherry, You need to get your family on board to support you. Explain to them how hard it is without their support. Its very easy to be tempted to eat food when its there. Could you possibly get your own fridge and cupboard space for your food so that you don't see the other food? You are still 22kg lighter than when you started so that is a good thing. being in lockdown would be hard we have been very lucky where I live. Could you start an indoor hobby like art and craft or reading/writing something that will keep your mind off food? also try an app that you can track your calorie in take. I use one called my fitness pal. its easy to use not sure if its available in different languages but worth having a look.

HaseenS I know its so hard, Keep going back a step when you cant go forward. I never feel hungry so its easy not to bother eating but I am so weak and wobbly I have to. I reached out to my dietitian and she said try crackers and soft cheese and breadsticks and soft cheese. Strained [ cream of] tinned soup. Tiny slivers of mature cheese. Yogurts and homemade milk shakes without sugar. Ice pops. My Calories are so low that I dont bother with low fat or fat free. I will sort that when I get onto real foods.

Jenn5120, consider that not taking in enough calories/protein AND going to the gym this soon post-op could contribute to a weight loss stall. Have you checked with your nutritionist about going to the gym?

Try mixing the crystal light flavors or mix it with more water than it calls for. You can test this by just adding more water to half a glass of it so you don’t waste a whole packet. Also if you mix a gallon it takes two packets normally so you can mix two different flavors. I like the fruit punch but it’s too sweet but not sweet enough if I mix with more water so I mix fruit punch packet with the more mild watermelon one that’s Walmart brand and it’s just right. I sound like Goldilocks lol.

Let's just start over! Here's a great idea! I've done this with people that hate water. Maybe try making a slushie! Blend your ice with any flavor low sugar . Even the dollar store sells Hawaiian punch flavor sugar free. Eating ice can be easier. Try freezing your protein smoothie. Make it like a soft serve. If your protein powder is lousy that's hard. Get a vanilla flavored one. Freezing makes all the difference. You feel like your eating and yet it's getting your food intake it. It's like a melted frosty. I've been worried case my weight loss has been so slow compared to everyone else. But you can stall right out of the gate. Your body has to get used to everything again. My surgery was Nov 26 and finally lost 18 pounds. But I'm not getting my walks in. My fault I need a new hip. Good luck with the slushie! God bless Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any December 2021 bypass people?

I start my liquid diet on 12/7 for surgery date of 12/21. I'll be sipping bone broth while my family enjoys beef tenderloin!

Why the same advice over and over?

Well I think that when people reach out for help from regain, they're looking for advice from others that experienced regain and what worked for them. Obviously not every approach works for every person but MANY here have found great success conquering their regain. For me, when I had regain and saw my bariatric team, they told me all the things that I knew they would say- do a post opt diet, go back to protein shakes, portion control, etc. A health issue required me to achieve nutritional ketosis and that's actually what helped me lose all of my regain and more. I conquered the health issue and lost my regain and have maintained over 5 yrs.
