    Tomorrow's the big day

RNY revision to duodenal switch. I'm a little nervous. I've started this journey in March so I'm ready. I hope to post updates as time goes on. I know God is with me and i feel very positive that this time i will make it to goal weight and keep it off. When i had my original bypass almost 15 yrs. ago, i didn't have as much guidance or knowledge that i do now. Much has changed over the years and I'm so ready. Is anyone else having your revision tomorrow or very soon. I'm here for anyone who wants to chat or vent or contemplating getting a revision done. My best to all of you. God Bless!

I know that people are often prescribed weight loss medications after surgery, especially if they have stopped losing weight or if they regain weight, but I'm not a doctor, so I don't know if that's right for you. First, how long has it been since you last lost weight? Maybe you're just in a stall! Stall can last 3 weeks or more. Also, weight loss slows down as you get further out from surgery, so maybe your weight is just slowing down. Also, if you have stopped losing weight because of psychological reasons, like binge eating or grazing, weight loss medications may not help, because most of them (not too sure about Victoza) work by curbing appetite, and if we are eating for psychological reasons, it's not really our appetite that needs control - it's our minds. In that case, you might consider seeing a therapist. Again, having said all that, I think the first place to start is to see your surgery team and ask what they think. Good luck!

    Going back on Liquids

I lot of what I eat is close to vegetarian and I'll admit, sometimes I add up all my protien grams and say screw it....and drink a protien drink just to not stress about it.

Just had my sleeve done with Dr. Elias Ortiz at his Bariatric center in Tijuana. 2 nights in the hospital, 3 nights in the Grand Hotel Tijuana, shuttles to and from the San Diego airport. Wanted for nothing the entire stay. Was wonderfully cared for! $4500.

    No coffee, seriously

My dietician said to wean off caffeine before Surgery, so you don’t feel even worse afterwards. So I gradually reduced and was fine. My program is no caffeine for 3 months. I’m on week 11. I have been fine with just decaf, so I plan to not reintroduce it until I actually need the caffeine hit.

    No coffee, seriously

It irritates the stomach. You should get over the caffeine withdrawal in a few days. Hang in there!

    It happened- I got canceled

They did say that they would schedule me back as soon as they could, that I’d be at the front of the line, since I was among the very first canceled. I’m not going to hold my breath, but I’m trying to maintain a little hope.

    Chicago...... suggestions

if you're into architecture, Chicago is world famous for early 20th century architecture. The Chicago Architectural Foundation has TONS of walking, bus, and boat tours. We've been on several - they've all been excellent. Art Institute is great if you're into art; Field Museum is great if you're into natural history. We also do a lot of just walking around when we're in Chicago (I live two hours from there, so we do weekends there several times a year). the Drake is pretty far north in the Loop - north of Loyola. The area around the Loyola campus is nice. But go beyond that and walk down Michigan Ave - so much there. we've been to so many restaurants, but I can't think of any one particular one to recommend - you'll stumble upon tons just walking around. We usually try to hit ethnic places, usually. Scoot over to some of the other streets that parallel Michigan Ave - there are lots of restaurants over there as well. You could always pick some cuisine and do a search on that. We've been to Colombian places, Argentine places, Turkish places, Middle Eastern places, Cajun places, pizza places, delis, so many.....they really have everything there. P.S. there's a Nutella Cafe on Michigan Ave. Might want to avoid that one! (it's great but...Nutella - you'll gain 10 lbs just walking in the door!)
