So Ready ... But Yet Another Wait

Let me start by saying that insurance approved my surgery Tuesday morning. I did a particularly vigorous happy dance around my office, which drew a few stares. My NP said it would take at least 4 weeks because Aetna was behind and my decision came back in 2 business days. Does that mean I was an open and shut case and so obvious that they didn't need to think about it? While I'm thrilled, I'm also a little disconcerted. My team's insurance clearance girl must really know exactly what to say and how to say it. Now, I'm waiting on my surgeon's office to call to schedule my pre-op visit which is apparently when we'll set "the date". All in all, I'm excited that the next part of my journey is getting ready to start. Thanks to everyone here on BP who have helped prepare me for it so I'm not too nervous. Love you all! <3

I truly understand!! I had my sleeve 8/16/17 and I’ve lost 90lbs total and gained 10 in the last year! I’m comfortable weight wise but I’m with you about this face!! I loved my face 50-60lbs in but now I’m trying to find collagen supplements and or skin care products to help with the sagging 😳 Ughhhh!! Lol!

    16lbs til goal!

I'm 5 months post op and as of today, I only have 16lbs left until my goal! I see my surgeon for my 6 month post op visit in 4 weeks, fingers crossed I can be near, or at, goal when I see him again! It's so crazy going from a 2XL or 3XL to a large or medium top and large bottoms. I thoroughly enjoy shopping now and often go to stores just to try stuff on. I went to put on one of my favorite shirts yesterday that I haven't worn in about a month and it looked like a sack of potatoes on me. I've already had to resize my wedding rings and will probably have to do it one more time here soon, they're already starting to get loose again. I remember going shopping before hoping that I could find something in the largest size that fit, now I go to stores picking one thing in a couple sizes because I don't know which will fit better. I can tolerate most foods just fine, very few issues with dumping, some days I eat more than others. About the only foods I have guaranteed issues with is broccoli, cauliflower, and any amount of pork products, even just a half teaspoon of bacon bits scattered on low carb pizza I made at home screwed me up. I did have a minor surgery last week and had to get basic blood work (CBC) done for that and it looked identical to my pre-op CBC, can't wait to see what the rest look like in a couple weeks. I'm so happy I did the surgery, I feel amazing! I have been running as often as possible, although I'm benched for another week right now, and hit a sub 40 5K. I remember back when it would take me over an hour to walk/run a 5k. I could never run more than 45 seconds at a time, and now I'm running for 4-5 minute chunks.

3 years out and can't lose a pound.

sounds like you might need to CUT calories, not increase them. How many are you eating in an average day now? I can maintain on 1500-1700 a day - but some people maintain on less than that - some even on 1000-1200. That range is going to be different for everyone. Start logging your food in an online tracker and after a week or two see what your average is. Then cut it by like 100 calories for a couple of weeks. If that's still not doing it, cut another 100. Rinse and repeat. You'll eventually find the spot where you're starting to lose weight again. p.s. There are definitely people who can maintain on 1800 calories, but that is pretty high. Even my 1500-1700 range is on the higher end for bariatric patients - a lot of people can't eat that many and maintain, unfortunately.

    Regain

Yes, I agree go back to your team and start there. I'm 5 years out today. I had some regain and I got inside my own head, searching everything I could to lose it. Once I had a health scare, I got OUT of my own head and went back to doing what I knew. My regain came off. I went back to my team and see them occasionally, even 5 years out! Good luck
