I am 49 and in my opinion age is just a number. If you want to nip and tuck after your surgery go right ahead. I am considering plastic for my stomach if I end up with a lot of excess skin. Don't apologize because you want to improve on your appearance. You are as young as you feel.

Hi everyone, I'm still preop and aged 48, I'm being optimistic that I will lose the weight and am interested in having an arm lift, breast lift, and anything else I need lifted, lol. I've seen people say why bother over age 40 you are too old no need at that ;point in your life. Yes, I will be 49 and pushing 50 and I'm not trying to be a sex symbol but I it's something I want. Am I being vain? I know my younger years are behind me.

    Aetna Approved

I am so happy!! I just called Aetna and they told me that they approved my surgery last Friday. This morning I got clearance from anesthesiologist and Wednesday I start my 12 day pre op diet. Two shakes and 4-6 oz lean protein and a small salad or vegetables (optional 2 small snacks). I guess I will be enjoying a few favorite meals today and tomorrow. April 29th here I come!!

I was 55 when I had my VSG. I'm now 57. I've lost about 150 and am a nationally ranked athlete in my sport. I haven't had plastics yet, but I have met with a surgeon and am planning to have a panni with tummy tuck (which my insurance will cover) and breast reduction/lift (the reduction will be covered as well). I'd love to have my arms done, but I'm a bit scared of the recovery time on it and the impact on my sport. I'm trying to figure out when to do stuff because having it done will require some time off work and I still have one kid in college and one on the way there.

    Anyone from upstate NY?

I had doctor malhoutra from crystal run. I’m almost a year out. Feeling good. Had an issue with hair loss but other than that no complications. Been doing really well. Curious to know if he’s your doctor too. Dr Judd is also with him.

I’m 9 weeks out. I try to keep my calories in the 600-700 range but have gone in the 800s a couple of times a week. No problems with any foods, getting protein or getting fluids in. Typical menu for me would be a scrambled egg with tsp of butter for breakfast or protein coffee. Lunch is usually baby spinach, spring mix with 1 1/2 oz chicken breast strips topped with T sour cream and salsa. Dinner has lately been 1/3-1/2 c homemade chili beans or 2oz meat with broccoli or Brussels sprouts. At night I usually want a snack so I’ve had sf Greek yogurt, sf jello with a dollop of yogurt on top or some cheese and smokehouse almonds, but I can get carried away with the almonds so have pretty much cut them out. Often I’ll add a premier protein somewhere, but when I do my calories are closer to the 800 range. I am still having to resist the urge to graze, especially at night. I’m going to try doing the premier protein around 9pm to see if that will help with the grazing/snacking urge because it seems if I eat a snack it just starts up my “fat brain” and even though I’ve not had anything “bad” I can still slow weight loss with grazing on allowed foods.
