    3 month anniversary

I haven't posted in a while and realized it's been 3 months today since my sleeve! Life has been so different since surgery. I was exhaustes all of the time until about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Now I have all kinds of energy. I've been exercising since about week two. I ride my bike or walk. That's the extent of my exercise. I've lost pretty consistently since surgery, averaging 2 pounds a week. I'm eating approximately 800-1000 calories a day and at least 70 grams of protein. I still drink shakes-at least one a day, and sometimes 2. I still struggle to get water in. I'm lucky to get 24 ounces a day. I went from a tight size 18 pants to a loose 14. I even fit in a size 12 last weekend. Everyone tells me how young I look now. I'm not used to all the attention that I get, and it makes me quite uncomfortable. But it's to be expected. I'm so glad I did the surgery, and I'm even happier that hubby did it with me. Btw-he's down to 279 from 364!! HW 241 Pre Surgery Weight 3/1/18: 228 CW 182

After surgery, I was told only take my Victoza and stop all other diabetes medications. Most mornings for the first couple weeks my fasting sugars were 100/101/104, then every few days it would bump up to 139/143. I'm at one month post-op and my fasting was 97. I believe it is the body ridding itself or stored sugars, and it will waver a bit until your body finally kicks the excess sugars to the curb. Walking in the evening and having protein before bed will reduce the Dawn Effect as well.

Congratulations on maintaining at that level. Had my 2 year a few weeks ago and my surgeon said most people gain between 10 and 20 between 2 and 5 years out. I consider 10 a win. Thank you for sharing, it's nice to hear from veterans like yourself on how you are doing. I am reading about vitamin deficiencies a few years out and would love to get more information on how people are doing with their lab work at 4/5 years and on.

Focus on letting your body heal. It may be laparoscopic but it is major surgery. You could do yourself a huge favor by just putting that scale away for a few weeks.

Best advice, nip it in the bud now. Go see your surgeon and nutritionist, consider counseling to deal with that aspect. I let mine slide and I gained. It is so much harder to take it off when you are out of the honeymoon phase. You can do do this!!
