    Somewhere along the line ...

from the research i've done, you basically have a "genetic reaction" to the surgery. in other words, don't beat yourself up or OBSESS (a big problem around here) about whether you lose 65% or 75% or 85% of your excess weight. the initial loss is virtually all out of your hands. it's the long-term years afterwards that your behavior and healthy habits will determine if you keep it off. that's what you control. that's what you should focus on. just try to be at peace with wherever you land after a year or so. it's nothing you did wrong (or right, tbh). it just is what it is. and it will be 1,000x better than where you were pre-surgery!

    Hitting a stall

    1. log your food 2. weigh your portions 3. change up your routine - does your workout still leave you in a puddle of sweat? 4. no added sugar 5. no simple carbs 6. adj your expectations and expect slower weight lose for the next year + 7. Hydration never stops being important number 7 should have been #1 good luck and stay positive

    Hunger pains

If you can stomach them, I like pickles because they are zero calorie and fill me up if I get hungry.

    Somewhere along the line ...

I read that Gastric Bypass patients lose an average of 75% of their excess body weight. At the time of surgery, I weighed 346 and my ideal body weight by BMI is approximately 190 pounds. So, that means I am carrying an excess weight of 156 pounds. 75% of 156 pounds is 117 pounds. So that means if I lost 75% of my excess weight, I would be a relatively svelt 229 pounds. Crunching the numbers is interesting. 229 seems like an impossibly long way off but I'm only going to take it day by day.

    Peripheral Neuropathy

Called them to notify but on second thought I realized they are not the best to deal with it, they are just surgeons, I'm going to visit my friendly neighborhood hematologist [emoji23]

    Bipolar diagnosis

I'm bipolar manic depressive and the psychiatrist (who wasn't affiliated with my normal psychiatrist ) approved me he just said I needed to continue to see my regular psychiatrist, which I do. So she shouldn't have a problem.

    Pooping is stressful!

I agree with allwet. I suffer from chronic constipation. Been using Miralax every day for 10 years now and it works. Very safe as well. You seriously can do some damage from going without BM for too long or straining too much.

I've already posted in the before and after thread. I thought I do a separate thread. Today is my first surgiversary! I've been in a 3 month stall. With RNY, I accomplished my loss without any strenuous exercise (due to a heart condition). I'm 25lbs away from goal weight and I feel great! HW: 334 SW: 319 CW: 205 GW: 180

Nervous about 2 week pre-op liquid diet

My last experience with a liquid diet was the pre colonoscopy liquid diet. I’ll never forget projectile vomiting at 10pm. I understand that the pre-surgery liquid diet encourages protein, but it also lasts much longer. Any reassurance? A reality check? Thoughts???
