    Cookie sang to me

The stuff that sings to me....gets re-homed. Just takes too much emotional energy to slip up and feel guilty. I'm tired of the food drama in my life. My food at home falls under two categories... 1. Healthy legal stuff. 2. Naughy stuff my husband likes that I find repugnant. Not saying I don't eat treats once in a blue moon. I do. But I make a point not to bring it into the house, or only bring it into the house for a special occasion with a very limited quantity. Lots of steps that make me THINK about the choice. Not saying I can't make that choice once in a while....but it's gonna be my idea and not the singing. LOL:) I want my food choices to be deliberate. (even the occasional splurge) There is one legal-ish item that I struggle with a little. Yasso greek yogurt bars. God, how I love them. LOL. They come in a box of four. I usually get them when I take my mom grocery shopping. I take two home (one for me, one for hubby), and leave two at her house. They have a hell of a time singing to me....from her house:)

I am in my sixth week post op. I've finally found a protein powder I can tolerate and I've been starting every morning with a 280 calorie/36 grams protein beverage, and that really helped me hit my protein goals. However, yesterday I did not have time to make my protein shake yesterday and I ended up feeling the same way (i.e. energized and not fatigued) and not overeating after, eating only 600 calories instead of 900. And I like that. I cannot help shake off how easy it was for me to consume 900 calories with the protein shakes so early and it made me panic. Anyway, the day after, I've had a smooth bowel movement (I was constipated before), broke through the weight stall, and woke up feeling lighter. I was thinking maybe the protein shakes were making my problems worse. Does anyone else have the same thing? Would consuming a protein shake every other day instead of every day help even if I am not hitting my protein goals every day? Also I severely dislike premier protein now and anything that comes premade, I know it's less calories I just cannot stomach it anymore. It's too sweet.

    Wine

4 wks out - I was a big social drinker as well and can relate to sillykitty. It’s very much a habit. At 3 weeks I was at an event and tried a sip of beer and couldn’t stand it. The carbonation tasted super exaggerated and the flavor had changed. Last night I was at a dinner party and decided to try wine. I gave myself a smaller 4oz pour and the taste had changed as well. I didn’t really like it but out of habit kept taking sips. I nursed this glass for over 3 hours and still had about an oz left to pour out at the end of the night. I’ve lost the desire to drink and for the most part am totally fine being out and drinking water. Sleeved 3/12/18, HW 270, SW 253, CW 238, GW 160, 5’9”

I'm nearly six weeks out and my stomach is still so "acidy" that I wouldn't dare add wine!

    Emotions

So- food for a good addict or overwater is similar to alcohol for an alcoholic. It’s a coping mechanism and helps to mask feelings and prevents us from honing our emotional tools to deal with stress and anxiety. When the food is taken away and it’s more difficult to be abused or just isn’t being abused feelings are much more noticeable, stronger, overwhelming and harder to deal with because we’ve been eating them away for so long. I agree with the other recommendation to speak with your doctor; my surgeon has an in house psychologist that is there for emotional help throughout the process. I think this would be helpful for you. Good luck.

    Wine

About five weeks in my case. I now have about three to five in any given week as part of a daily calorie allowance of 950-1250 calories.

Have you travelled with your new sleeve? Do you ever feel like your missing out because of it ie holidays/events? Does water intake get easier? I am terrified of not being able to get in enough water and that I will become weak and dehydrated. Recovery? The good bad the ugly? Bowel movements? Different than they used to be? Just starting my insurance process. Congratulations on your success. This community is amazing and I love seeing the success, honesty and positive things everyone has to say 💜
