My Rhemitoidoligist said he was dead set against getting the surgery. Mind you i was diagnosed with Rhemitoid arthritis 2yrs ago and have been on two different medicine since. I went ahead with the surgery down 36lbs and off both meds as of now. And havent missed them. I go back to him Jan 5 and hope Im down a few more pounds and see the look on his face when he reads my blood work results. Cause Im feeling great these days. And Im sure the more weight that come off, Ill feel even better. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

I think anyone can lose weight. I have lost hundreds (yes, hundreds) of pounds over my lifetime. I have been fat my entire life. I was also an athlete, so, when I was younger, I was able to manage being a bigger girl because even though I was 180lbs at 5'5" in high school - I was strong. I am going to be 50 this year, and even though I am active, I am definitely limited with what activities I can do at my current weight (300lbs). I have been in and out of weight watchers since I was 12. Have done every diet that has EVER existed (seriously, can anyone say/smell cabbage soup). I have yo-yo'ed my entire life. Some diets more successful than others. When I was in my twenties, I had my most success with a nutritionist. I lost about 80lbs with her and when I couldn't get the remaining 25lb's to go - I made a desperate move and saw a total quack of a Dr. that gave me black beauties (it was the late 80's) and I lost the rest of the weight. It was an unhealthy end to what had been such a successful weight loss but once I stopped with the pills, I slowly started eating poorly and over the following 3-4 years, gained all the weight back and then some. I understand your question. I deeply understand it. I can only speak for myself, and the short answer is "YES" I can lose weight without surgery. The longer answer is that after struggling for 50 years, I am tired and need something that will not only help me lose the weight but more importantly help with maintaining this for the rest of my life because unlike the "YES" answer to losing the weight it has proven to be a hard "NO" about being able to maintain for any length of time. I refuse to beat myself up any longer by asking myself if I could have done this on my own. I have a proven track record of NOT being able to sustain a weight loss. I have made a mental shift to not focus on that type of thinking but rather look forward and embrace where I am now - 2 weeks out from surgery and 25lbs lighter.

    Post surgery check list

it's good for the little granuals in capsules, too. Open the capsule and sprinkle the grains on the Cool Whip. I take my Omeprazole like this:)

I've been thinking of the same thing. Just trying to get prepared. To add onto your list: 1. blender or food processor 2. broth for sure! I recommend a broth that you can find from Walmart. It has an increased amount of protein. It is also organic and gluten free. I've attached pics. They have chicken, vegan, and beef. Warning: the vegan has a lot more calories

    Mixing two proteins

Genepro is crap. The company has been sued at least twice and just lost the most recent one. There is no such thing as "medical grade protein". It's whey. They came out and said it is just predigested whey that gets absorbed very quickly. It is not equivalent to 30g, it is at best 10g. The best thing to do with that crap is just chuck it in the trash. Yes it is on the bariatric store, but that is a store. It sole purpose is to sell things people will buy. And people buy Genepro because they want to believe it, not because it works. To your original question, mix your protein powders however you like. Whey, casein, pea, or soy... doesn't matter. It's no different than having a salad with chicken on top. There are some benefits to mixing proteins. BCAA content, absorption rate, bio-availability... experimentation in with this should be encouraged. And don't worry about taking in more than 30g-ish of protein at a time. RickM stated it well. You will absorb the protein eventually.

    Mixing two proteins

By most accounts, protein drinks count toward your liquid goal, so you can do both at the same time. It is rare for a program to require 2-3 protein drinks and a half gallon of water. It is typically 64+ oz total.

Thanks. This is a great help. I drank my first protein shake yesterday - 8oz probably over 15 mins. I had no trouble, but was sort of expecting to feel resistance like with the gastric band I had - nothing. But this morning I had a bit of a sharp tummy ache. The first pain I have had with this! Settling now. Slow right down - heck, that will probably be my big challenge! Thanks. Glad to hear your surgery went so well too. Aren’t we brave!

    2-3 Weeks Post Op Slump

no - the big drops you see are usually in the first 2-4 weeks. Then many of us hit our first stall. After that the weight loss resumes, but not nearly as fast. Slow but steady. Just stick to your plan and it'll come off, though... Compliance is key.
