    I was operated on on Tuesday of this week and I finally go home tomorrow. My question is should I weigh myself or wait u til my first post-op dr appt? I see some people who have had amazing results and others who have gained. I know this is a time of healing and everyone’s body is different but I must admit I’m curious to say the least? Suggestions are most welcomed.

    Hi Lesley, You sound like you are headed in the right direction. Go buy some new drawers woman!!! Which cruise did you take? I will be going on a 9 day cruise 4 months out from surgery. I have been sleeved for 3 days and doing ok - some gas pain and rumbling, a little tired. Just today I have managed 11/2 protein drinks and some vitamin water and broth - no picnic but managing.

    Thank you for the catering idea- I think that's what we'll do. Whole Foods is down the street and actually not too bad for T-Day fixings!

    Whatever you decide cook WAY less. If you eat out, eat off some one elses plate. You will be able to eat mashed potatoes or candied yams. Getting it done just before the holidays might sound tough, but look at the bright side- no holiday season weight gain this year. Also, I started to feel a lot better with more energy about the 1 month, so although the food experience will be much different, you should still be able to enjoy good company. Good luck!

    Officially, the program I am working with recommends not weighing in so frequently. I weigh myself daily. At times, this has been frustrating. However, at this point (11 weeks out) it has helped me understand my body and my weight loss patterns. I know that I will go down to a new low, then over the next several days I may bounce around (up to 2.5 lbs) above that low before hitting the next low. As I said, early on this was frustrating, now I understand that it will happen and it does not stress me out (as much). I am currently using Fitness Pal to track my weight . I only enter new lows, and I don't record the little jumps back up between lows. Having that to examine the weight loss over time is very helpful. After the initial drops my weight-loss has felt so slow, but looking at it over weeks is helpful. I have a hard time "seeing" my weight-loss. The other things that has been helpful is recognizing the NSV. I had to buy all new pants. Also, I am almost done shopping in my closest. Those things can offer a boost when the scale is not moving as quickly as we would like it to.

    When did you have coffee again?

    I had decaf on day 2; and moved to one cup caffeinated at 1 week (which also resolved my constipation). I love my coffee in the morning. I start thinking about it the night before!

    3+ months out, still have pain

    I'm about three days out. I have lots of gas causing cramps. The major paid is surface sourness from the incisions. It get painful/uncomfortable when I consume to 3 ounces. I asked my doctor about that, he said it's normal, and my capacity will increase. I have yes to feel "hunger" like before. If the pain is after you eat, then you'r filling yourself up... I think I know that feeling now, and it comes SOOO easy.

    Decaf was fine on my earliest liquid plan. I just had my 3 week post-op and asked About caffeinated. He said one cup is fine but to drink an extra cup or more of water. Caffeine is dehydrating . So that plusthe the acid for some people make it not the best choice. I think a lot of recommendations are due to the dehydration factor and not being able to get enough fluids already in the early weeks.

    What about catering it? At five weeks post-op, I still have no interest in food, so being around it doesn't actually bother me. But I still don't like eating in restaurants yet...however, if your family wanted to eat out, you could go along and just get some butternut squash soup or something like that. I'm probably going to cook Thanksgiving dinner this year, but it will be simpler. But I should be able to eat most of the food, in teeny tiny portions, by then. By Christmas, you will at least be able to eat some of the food, so don't worry about that one...

    its now been 4.5 years since I was sleeved. my high weight was 323 lbs. my goal weight was low 180's. I did reach goal weight but over the years I realized that my desired goal weight was too low for me. now for the last 2 years ive steadily maintained a weight in the mid 190's and that appears to be where im supposed to be and im happy with that weight. today 10/1/17 I weight 195 lbs. I exercise 3-4 times a week and my choice of exercise is running. I will also be running the 2018 boston marathon and im so excited about being able to run this historic race! im running it for the jimmy v foundation for cancer research and ive committed to raising $6000 which is no easy task. if any of you have ever been affected by this terrible illness feel free to click the link after this post and make a 100% tax deductible donation to the jimmy v foundation for cancer research. every dollar donated goes to research. you will be supporting my run and a cause that affects everyone as everyone knows someone that has been affected by cancer. as far as my eating, I still have to be very mindful of what I put in my mouth.
