Agreed! Speak up and lay out what you want. If others aren't on board, do it for yourself! (and find people who would be on board ) side anecdote: i have different groups of friends and family. as my interests and lifestyle changed since surgery, i have found that so too did the groups of people i hung out with the most changed. the group of friends that i spent the most time with before are eaters and sitting-around-ers. the group of friends and family that i now spend more time with are the ones who are more active and down for whatever. i still hang out with the former group, just not as much i used to. i also made a whole bunch of new friends/acquaintances (from all the stuff i do now) that i share common interests with. i guess what i'm trying to say is that you are going to change. it may be a little unfair to expect all those around you to change as well. if they do, awesome! if they don't, its unfortunate, but don't let it stop you from doing what you want to do (with those that want to do it with you :). good luck! ❤️

35 kg down in 1 year

My journey towards a healthier weight began with a decision to take control of my health and well-being. At 102 kg, I knew I needed professional guidance and support to navigate the complexities of weight loss. Before the surgery, I had extensive consultations with the medical team. They took the time to understand my medical history, lifestyle, and weight loss goals before recommending the gastric sleeve surgery as the most suitable option for me. The day of the surgery arrived, and although I felt nervous, the surgery went smoothly. After the gastric sleeve surgery, the first days were tough as I adjusted to the changes. Gradually, I felt improvements in my energy and mobility. It was a journey of ups and downs, but I emerged stronger, prioritizing my health more than ever. As I embarked on my post-operative diet and lifestyle changes, I was supported by the dietitian service. They worked closely with me to develop a personalized nutrition plan tailored to my needs, ensuring that I received the essential nutrients while promoting healthy weight loss and long-term success. Over the next year, I witnessed incredible transformations in my body and overall health. With each passing month, the numbers on the scale decreased steadily, and I noticed improvements in my energy levels, mobility, and self-confidence. As I reached my goal weight of 67 kg, I couldn't help but feel an immense sense of pride and gratitude.

Maybe you just need to be the creative one. Come up with something else you would like to do and ask for it. And if they aren’t willing to do it then treat yourself to something nice. Birthdays to me for adults are all about splurging on something you would otherwise not buy for yourself because it’s kind of a waste of money. Could be a material item or an experience. Otherwise we are just passing the same envelope of cash back and forth for years.

    May 2024 Surgery Buddies 😁

My surgery date was May 1st. I was anxious as the date got closer and closer. I had never gone under, so I was anxious about that. I remember going into the surgery room, scorching over to the surgical table, and then waking up in the recovery room. I didn’t think the surgery had been done. Until I went to the restroom and looked at the incisions on my stomach. I took Powerade zero, gripe water, gas x pills, and loose clothing for my departure. The gripe water was nasty, super sweet, and I don’t think it helped. The gas x pills, for sure take. Definitely needed chapstick (although the hospital gave me a care bag that included lip moisturizer). All I was able to drink was water and ice chips. The first day/night of surgery is definitely the hardest!!!!!!!! Today I’m one week post op and feel better each day. I lost 13 lbs in this 1 week. Starting protein shakes today. My diet is soft protein and liquids.

Don’t fret yet @Lilia_90. I too thought I’d lost my hourglass shape but it came back although the hip waist breast ratio was smaller. Once my weight stabilised, my remaining fat resettled & my waist & hips came back. My boobs were there too but needed hoisting up in a well fitting bra-LOL!

    Tummy Tuck items needed?

Knowing how fit you are, I imagined you as Gene Wilder at the beginning of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in his cane fake out scene.

    WEIGHT LOSS SLOWING DOWN

we started out at about the same weight on the day of surgery. I just checked, and I'd lost 63 lbs at the fie month mark, but then, I had RNY - weight loss is usually a bit faster with that than it is with VSG (although you usually end up at the same place in the end). Two lbs a week isn't unusual once you get out that far. Honestly, I still drink a protein shake every day because I'm supposed to average 100 grams of protein a day (we discovered early on that I malabsorb it - so the usual 60-80 grams/day wasn't doing it for me). I could probably get that high from food alone, but I don't like to obsess all day about whether or not I'm going to meet my protein goal. I know I WILL meet it if I have a protein shake for my mid-morning snack. I know some dietitians and surgeons don't like people to stay on protein shakes for long, but I know a few people who hate eating breakfast whose dietitians told them to just have a protein shake for breakfast, then (so they're OK with it in some situations) - but opinions seem to vary among dietitians.

Hey people! 4 months and 3 days post RNY. What meal and snack ideas can you give me that are high in protein? I'm still not hitting my goals and currently thinking about drinking protein, turns my stomach. This happened in the beginning aftrr surgery as well. Any good recipes? I know there are recipes on here somewhere, but what are your top high protein foods? I need to start planning my foods ahead again. How long did everyone's hair loss last? When I had lapband in 2009, my hair loss wasn't as bad as it is this time. My hair gets SO tangled! Probably because this time my hair is lightened and colored with fashion colors. But, when did the hair loss start to ease up for you? I feel like im overeating. I feel like I could have lost a lot more weight by now. If it's not overeating then it's high calorie foods. For example, I can eat almost a who bagel with a serving of cream cheese and a 1/2 to a cup of cherries for breakfast. A lot of the times I skip lunch because I eat whatever I have at breakfast at that time. Then if I have a snack yes I'll eat a junk food item like a serving of chips or a cheesestick and then at dinner I'd have the 3 ounce of chicken, with 1/2 cup veggies and spoonful (the ones you cook with) of rice. Of course I'd have regular BBQ sauce or chic fil a sauce (a serving) and a serving of butter on my rice. Then awhile later before I get in the shower I'll have one or two of the following; a popsicle, another serving of chips, popcorn, yogurt, ice cream sandwich (yep I shouldn't be eating this. No, it hasn't made me sick and no I don't have it often), a cheesestick, etc. Or sometimes I'd eat some cereal if I know it doesn't make me feel sick. When I write it out, it doesn't look like I'm overeating, but when I track it, it comes out to be around 1200 calories. I shouldn't stress, but I need to make better choices and maybe make schedule for water intake and food intake. PLEASE, no rude/mean replies. Please be helpful. I want to succeed, and right now I feel like I'm not gonna succeed eventhough I'm not gaining, I'm still slowly losing. Thanks for your time!
