2. I am interested in having a tummy tuck, arm lift, and breast lift. I thought it would be interesting if we start a before and after plastic surgery thread for pictures.

  3. I am searching for Dr's now for my tummy tuck and breast augmentation. For those of you that had it how long before you were able to back to work? I am thinking of having it done inbetween semesters at school. If I had it hte 2nd week in December would I be up and ready to go back to school (including a long drive) by the 2nd week in January? Also what kind of questions should I be asking a plastic surgeon??

Hi all, I got back from TJ last week after having some reconstruction done on my boobs and Dr. Q did an amazing job! The whole staff there is great and very professional. I even had Dr. Campos do an IPL laser peel on my face...I had some fine lines and large pores...they are gone! I highly recomend them...the web add is Plastic Surgery - San Diego Let me know if anyone has any more specefic questions. Laura

Hello all, I have a question. I apologize if this has been answered, I just haven't seen it. Back in 1998 I lost over 70 lbs. on the Atkins Diet. Of course I was convinced I would never gain it back and I ended up having a fall tummy tuck, breast lift and lipo done on my inner thighs. Well here I am now nearly 30 lbs heavier than my highest weight then. The good thing about my cosmetic stuff is my boobs stayed pretty alert til the last baby, now they need doing again, and my tummy tuck managed to keep me from really gaining much weight in that area. Now instead of looking pregs with quads, I kinda have the 5 month look going...def puffy but only at the very bottom wher…

Hi Everyone... I am a ways away from getting any reconstructive surgeries, but I was curious if anyone out there could/would recommend any surgeons in particular in AZ. Also, I have United Health Care.... was anyone able to get their plastic surgery covered by UHC after having the Lap Band? Thanks and Good Luck Everyone!

I had my consult with the plastic surgeon yesterday and he explained everything to me. Now the only thing to do is get insurance approval. The surgical coordinator asked me to get letters from my primary and lapband doctors explaining the need for the panniculectomy. Anyone go through this before and have a good letter to share? When I was going for lapband approval, the surgeon's office gave me a sample letter for my primary to complete and sign. I was approved in 2 days. I only hope this approval goes nearly as smoothly. If not a whole letter, what else should be included besides rash history? Thanks in advance. MC

had my pani removed (all 16 lbs of it) Friday morning. It was not nearly as traumatic as I had anticipated. I left the hospital the next morning walking upright and went to my DS' house overnight (he lives closer to civilazation than I do). The worst part of it so far has been the constipation caused by the meds. But my son made an emergency run to Walgreen's at midnight last night and I was cured by sunup. MOM is a miracle drug for sure! I'm in my own home now with nothing but steri-strips on my incision (I had anticipated drain tubes, compression garments, a body cast, and full-time RN on duty!). The amputation feels very strange.......I'll have to get used to no…

Thurdsay morning I had an extended tummy tuck and lipo to my flank area. I still have tubes hooked up to me but they should come out on Tues. It was most painful coming home the first day and then the second day I had to go back and that was pretty painful. I have a ridiculously high tolerance to drugs and so I just have to bear it. I peeked at the resluts, belly button looks nice and round, tummy looks flat even though I know it must reallybe swollen, Imm gonna ask my daughter if she can get some pic up for us,. tata

  12. Hi, I live in the Seattle, WA area and am interested in getting a thigh lift. I was banded about 15 months ago and am very happy I did it. I know there are alot of plastic surgeons in the area that do "boob jobs" but I want someone who has experience on people who have lost alot of weight and want to get rid of the excess skin. Feel free to post the info here, if you have had a good experience with a Doctor in this area. Or you can send me a private msg if you would prefer not to advertise. Thanks in advance.. Lara

This is evidently a new-ish procedure created by a doctor here in Los Angeles. It's called the Laser Bra, and what he does is instead of discarding the removed skin, he uses it to reinforce the lift, by attaching it to the breast wall, basically like it says, to create an internal bra.

Some of the results on his site look really nice, others are just so-so (laserbra.com). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has had this procedure, or known anyone who had and what their thoughts on it were?

Also, I just can't decide whether I should do this (the lift in general) soon, or wait until after I have kids, risking that I'll want/need an…

I am starting my research into PS and I am sure that this has been answered in another thread. I have a hard time swallowing pills and I am concerned about taking pain pills after surgery. Did anyone have an unfill before surgery to be able to take pain pills? How long did you need to take pain pills after surgery? Like I said, I am just starting my research and I am not looking for surgery until March or April 2008 because I still need to loose another 20 lbs. and my husband might be relocating to another state by then so I have not even looked at a plastic surgeon yet. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Valarie G.

Hi all! I am still an infant bandster- only 6 months out- but I'm starting to hear much about excess skin and it's freaking me out! I'm thinking that as the popularity of band and bypass surgery exponentially increases, so is the rush towards cosmetic surgery. It's going so far where people (bandsters included!) are willing to give themselves rashes and other potentially harmful conditions in order to "qualify" for the procedures!!! Are we going nuts? I understand that there are 2 schools of thought on the subject of why excess skin develops: There are those who believe that by being obese and carrying excess weight, you have irrevocably damaged your sk…

So I've finally reached the point that I've lost enough (145 lbs.) to start thinking about plastic surgery and I've decided to go with Dr. Godat at Medical City in Dallas. Is anyone familiar with him? I've had my first consult with him and feel confident with him, I just thought a few more opinions wouldn't hurt! Also, I'm scheduled for a TT and brachioplasty with lipo on my chin. Does anybody have some arm lift photos I could take a look at? 19. I've still got a couple of years to go, but I'm already thinking ahead about PS. My inner thighs are a mess from decades of rubbing together. The skin is darker and the there are spots where I had friction sores. I'm curious to know how other people have dealt with this problem. My thighs have always rubbed together, even when I was at a "normal" weight so I don't expect much improvement when I reach goal. It's seems like there's nothing I can do to improve the texture of the skin. What I'd really like to do is get an inner thigh lift or lipo or whatever it would take to live in a world where my thighs don't touch - or at least don't overlap. Has anyone had this do…

Hi everyone, I'm in the preop phase of lapband surgery so I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I'm really curious as to whether I'll really need cosmetic surgery someday (assuming I'm successful in losing the weight!). For those of you who have lost 75-100 pounds, was your skin incredibly loose? I'm not looking at all to have perfect skin tone, but I don't want my belly hanging down to my knees either. I'm almost 52 by the way, and I'm female. What was your experience?

Hi all, I'm planning an extended abdominoplasty next month. I have a standard port. It doesn't stick out now, but I'm worried that it will be noticable after PS. The port is located on the left between waist and ribs and about 1 - 2" from center. Did you have the port changed to low-profile or did your PS move it? I'm going to talk to both my PS and band surgeon about this and will ask my band surgeon if it is possible to get a low profile port to replace the standard one. So what has your experience been with your port? If you kept the standard port did it stick out after surgery? Do wish you'd had it changed? Thanks, Lucky 1/31/05 274/151 5'8"

My breasts were a C before the weight loss, now they're like....where have I heard this before...2 fried eggs hanging on nails? I barely have any tissue left, a lift wouldn't do anything since there's nothing there to lift except stretched marked skin. Does anyone else have this? It seems a lot gets lifts but I don't see much on implants. Thanks!

After having been fat for so long and enduring decades of tight fitting bras, my skin has become discolored (darker) where my bra rubs against me. Basically, if I take my bra off, you can see the outline of where my bra was by the discolored skin. The skin is darker where the band of the bra sits around my rib cage and where the straps go over my shoulders, both front and back. To a lesser degree, I also have slightly darker skin around my waist from the waistband of pants constantly rubbing for the past 10 years. Can this be treated with laser surgery or microdermabrasion? Anyone else have this? Any successful treatment for returning the skin to a normal color?

I absolutely cannot picture myself as anything other than chubby, but let's say for grins, I actually make it somewhere in the vicinity of chub-free. The procedures I'd consider are a tummy tuck and lipo on my inner thighs. Maybe a boob lift, but it seems like anything involving the boobs is extra painful. Anyway, I live in Los Angeles. Strangely, that presents something of a dilemma. It means cosmetic surgeons are a dime a dozen around here.
