I'm just starting to look into PS, and I know that I'll need at least a tummy tuck and a breast lift. I'm just not sure about augmentation. I'm used to having bigger boobs (not huge, but not B-cups, either), so I'm not sure if I'll want to have just a breast lift or if I'll want to combine it with augmentation. What I'm considering doing is going for the TT and BL, seeing how the results of the BL look after complete healing, and THEN making a decision about augmentation. On the other hand, sometimes I think that I might as well go whole hog while I'm getting some done, and get it all done. Any thoughts or opinions that you guys want to share?

Posted this under general surgery forum but perhaps it belonds here. Hope someone can shed some light on my question. Had a tummy tuck about 3 years ago. Considering lap band in near future. Is there anything with the tummy tuck surgery that would eliminate me as a candidate for lap band?

I've had a belly for as long as I can remember. Apparently, I tend to carry the majority of my excess weight in my abdomen, which of course makes me look pregnant, with stretchmarks (some pretty severe) to go with the appearance. I really don't think I'm going to have a pretty stomach after I reach goal. I'd have a nice hour-glass shape if I could just chop this damn belly off. I'll probably have to get my boobs at least lifted and possibly augmented, too, since they've always pointed in a generally southerly direction. I mostly like the way they look when I've got my arms stretched straight up in the air, but I can't exactly go walking around like that, can I?

Hi there I had an arm lift and a boob lift with implants 4 weeks ago. All has healed nicely except a small pea sized area on my right nipple, the nurse at my doctors surgery says she does'nt think there is any infection. has any body else experienced problems healing ? THANKFULLY I DO NOT NEED TO GO THROUGH ANY SORT OF RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, BUT I HAVE SEEN A FEW ARTICLES ON SKIN DONATIONS ALOT OF DOCS THAT WORK IN BURN CENTERS ARE DOING PRO BONO WORK TO GET THE SKIN FOR GRAFTS , NOT A BAD IDEA IF IT IS SOMETHING ONE NEEDS TO GET RID OF THE EXTRA SKIN AND DOESNT HAVE THE MEANS TO PAY FOR IT. JUST A THOUGHT FOR ANYONE TO LOOK INTO. :pray2:

Maybe someone on the forum can assist me with this issue. I know there will be a lot of skin once I lose the weight. Do you think that if it is medically needed, will they cover the cost.

I am looking for recommendations for a plastic surgeon and I would like suggestions from people who've already had prodedures done and are loving the results and work their surgeon did. Anyone within this area have someone that I should research further? I was not completely satisfied with what work I've seen from the surgeon my doctor recommended. All, I'm not certain what to do, so I figured I'd check with folks who've been there. I've been approved for breast reduction already and I'm going in for my first appt. with surgeon/dietician this week to discuss lapband surgery. I've completed a bunch of pre-paperwork (paperwork they review even before they'll consider you for an appt.), so I've passed the first step. My breast reduction approval is good until the end of March '08. I know that there's awhile to wait before you can get your lapband surgery, if approved for it. My concern is if I have the breast reduction before the lapband will they turn me away for the lapband? I have upper back problems and, gosh, if…

Hey I want the opioin of all those who have goneunder the knife already. After fighting on the phone I just got a call back from the U of M to schedual surgery. HOW LONG is recovery time REALLY?? They are telling me I would be off school for 4 weeks. I do drive there but there is no lifting, ect. Can I go back if I did on spring break? So we are talking having it and going back in a 1 1/2 weeks or so?? Can it be done? How soon were you back to work? Can I stadn sitting for 3-4 hours a day that soon? Thanks guys, I need responses! Well, I thought it was time to leave the old TT thread and start a separate one for my lateral thigh lift and brachioplasty that are coming up on November 8th. Hello hello everyone.....long time no chat. I am happy to back in the giant loop we call Lapbandtalk! Just a little update, I have booked my TT reconstructive surgery. I have lost 125 lbs and am ready for the big step. I have just read a thread about how close to goal you should be before you do your TT. I am in favour of the thought that if you are comfortable with the weight that you are able to maintain you should do what you need to for yourself. Personally my TT is completely comfort based, I am far to old and too taken to be concerned with what anyone thinks. I just noticed that there is not much discussion on body wraps here. I lost 100lbs and as you can imagine have a lot of loose skin. It doesn't bother me enough to go in for surgey so I started going for body wraps and they really help a lot! After two wraps, I lost several inches and my skin is noticably tighter. It's clearly not the same a a tummy tuck or anything surgical, but I think its a great option us bandsters can consider. The wrap I ended up going for was a suddenly slender body wrap. I did my research and finally chose a PS. I gasped at his fine work online. Nice low TT scars, straight, nice work. I was impressed enough to phone. First consult date----------Oct 1, 2008 ---- This is where I faint. :faint: Surgery date within 3 months of consult. But I can wait, this gives me time to lose my last 3 pounds and to get into the best physical shape possible. It also gives my skin time to adjust since I read somewhere that skin can take up to a year to shrink after weight loss. But I am doing the happy dance.

Please forgive me in advance if this is the wrong place for this question - I searched around and wasn't sure where to post this . . . I live in the Houston area and have started seeing alot of commercials on TV for the 'fat dissolving' procedure called Advanced Lipodissolve. I am curious if anyone (who has been banded) has any experience with this procedure and if so, how well it works. How close to goal to you have to be to get a tummy tuck?

I'm going to keep a bit of a log for my cosmetic surgery here. I have my consultation appointment on May 14,2007 in Lake Tahoe. So far what I know is they could possibly have to do one surgery one day and the other surgery the next day. The nurse said that would be worst case scenario. Hopefully both on the same day. $6,300 for the abdominalplasty and $3,900 for the breast augmentation. I will post more as I learn more.

I am in the beginning of my journey and worry about having a sagging stomach. I started at 222 lbs. 5'5'', The majority of my weight is in my stomach. I plan to lose down to 145. That will be a 77 lb. weight loss. Is there anyone that lost that much and DID NOT have sagging skin? __________________

Have there been, or are there any guys out there that have had a TT or in guy land we could call it a GE (Gut Elimination) Tummy Tuck just doesn't fit into my vocabulary. I am hopeful that my Big 'ol Gut will amazingly shrink and I will not have a big saggy pannis. I am open to the fact that that may not happen and I may need some sort of "corrective" surgery. This would be a long way out, because I just got banded 3 days ago. Anyway, I was just curious to see if any guys had experience with this.

My friend has just lost a ton of weight and has mega excess skin folds. Her sister told her that a Burn unit here in Georgia where I live will do her plastic surgery for free and even compensate for lost salery while recovering so that they can use her skin to graft to burn patients. Does anyone know if this is true and if so where can I find the information?

I will be 8 months PO on the 15th. The pain is long forgotten, healing is done, and the result is being enjoyed.

For all of you who have had PS, do you mind sharing what procedure you had, where you had it (state/country) and how much it cost? I was speaking to a dear friend who I greatly admire and respect. She had gastric bypass 30 years ago, which included a TT to remove her skin. She scared me in a conversation yesterday about the risks of plastic surgery. I told her I was interested in getting a TT next summer. She said that of all the plastic surgeries, that the TT was one of the most risky ones. She mentioned Kayne West's mom, who just recently died after PS. Does anyone know if an insurance company will pay for Cosmetic/Reconstructive surgery after lap band? I have been told by some that they may pay for a tummy tuck due to the fact that infection could set up since the skin will "flap" over the pubic area and no air gets to the area. I dont know if this is true or not. I am seriously considering lap band after the new year when my new insurance goes into effect. My new insurance will pay for the lap band.

Hey everyone, I'm curious to see if anyone on the board has had plastic surgery overseas, like maybe in Argentina? I've heard about all these supposedly reputable places you can get it done for less than half what you'd pay in the US on the tv and online, but I don't know of anyone who has actually done it or investigated into it. I know when I'm done losing weight I'll want a few nips and tucks and I really don't want to blow the rest of my savings getting it done.

I think I will need a tummy tuck. I have keloids. My lapband scars are still raised and red and itchy. I am 14 months out. I am afraid of a TT scar, being visible under a bathingsuit and basically ugly. I am confident it wouldn't be as ugly as my hanging, post losing almost 100 pounds and 3 pregnancies, but still. I am worried that the scar will be ugly, raised and itchy. Is there anyone else with information for me on keloid skin? Can these scars be bleached, prevented, injected with something to prevent such scaring. I have not seen a plastic surgeon, but will in the next year or so. Just curious to know. Thanks in advance.

I have been home since yesterday. I was operated on at 3.30pm on August 15th, and got home at about 1pm on August 17th. The whole thing was not nearly as bad as I had expected. I am managing the pain with panadol, and exercise (walking laps of the hallway) I am pretty swollen, and still have my drains in (they will be removed Monday) It is kinda odd, feeling this flat tummy. Hello friends, I am still awaiting my psych appt., nutrition, consult with doc, and hope to be banded mid November. OK, I have a totally new fear I am hoping someone can help me with. My insurance does not cover this operation or any complications that may arise. That is scary enough but then... I heard someone say that they had lost 100 pounds and had to pay an enormous fortune in plastic surgery to fix all of the loose skin! I don't have an enormous fortune, In fact I am taking out a loan for surgery! Does anyone know anything about this? K

Will a tummy tuck naturally tighten up the upper/inner thigh sag? or does one need a lower body lift to do that? Thanks in advance. I would love a tummy tuck next summer. I am about 1/2 way to goal. I feel that the weight of my large breasts is holding me back from exercising and being active enough. I have arthritis in my back and this extra weight is killing me. I am a teacher in Ky, and have board health insurance which is unfortunately Humana. Want to get them to pay to get rid of this tire. OMG I did it, I had a full abdomioplasty and I could just bawl at how happy I am. The results have far exceede my highest expectaion. Dr. Winski in Goshen ,NY did it and not only is he nice, professional and soothing- he has skill. Im going to attch pics if I can figure it out how. Oh anyone who is worried put your fears on the side. It is not bad at all. This is a dream come true for me.
