Surgery Date - Aug 22
The week of surgery was hard for me. I was in a lot of pain the first few days. It is different for everyone though. I could not really stand up straight or get on high beds or anything. I was scared to eat anything for a long time. Slowly I regained my trust in food and learned what to eat and how much. No matter the amount of pain I went through I would do it all over again...it was well worth it!! The girl in the next room from me from surgery did not really have any pain at all. I think a lot of my pain came from the gas (or whatever it is) they blow you up with to do the surgery. It eventually worked it's way out and I started to feel better. I am not trying to scare you or anything it is just that when I had surgery I did not know what to expect and when I came out in pain I was suprised. I have had two c sections and a couple of other surgeries and this was the worst. It was tolerable pain though. REMEMBER IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!

New - From TX
Welcome...I am from Abilene, Texas. Good luck I am glad you found this I have learned so much from this website!!

What have I done?
I had the same thoughts. I was crying and saying how could I cut off something that life revolves around. Everything my family does is around food...that's what got me overweight to begin with. But after a couple of weeks went by I was good and especially after I started to eat soft foods. You can eat all the normal stuff just in smaller portions. This was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. Give yourself time to adjust. Good luck!!

Hello from Texas!
Good luck..I am from Texas also from Abilene. I am sure no one around this web site has been here... Anyway, I got banded about 5 months ago and it was the best thing I have done for myself. Best of luck!!

Hello from Maryland. Not banded yet.
Nancy, I have had a great experience so far. I LOVE my band!!! I have lost a total of 57 pounds. I have about 40-50 more before I get cosmetic surgery. I am doing very well. My surgery went ok I had to stay overnight due to breathing complications...not due to the band but from all the medication. It took about a week to get back to work. I won't lie it hurt pretty bad. I am not a baby either I have had 2 c sections and a hysterectomy and to me this was the worse surgery yet. Don't worry though for about 3 days I was in pain but it was well worth it. It I had to do it all over again I would. Everyone is different though another girl got surgery the same day as me and she got to go home and had only mild pain. Any other questions just ask! Good luck!!!

Hello! I am new too!!
Hi Laci!! Good luck!!
-
I'm still in the research stage!
I decided to have it at the end of July and my insurance approved me the first week of October. I had surgery October 31st. Mt doctor told be to be prepared to wait a very long time to get approved but I was blessed and got approved rather quickly. I had to do a psych evaluation and see a nutritionist & walla I was approved!!! It went by really quickly.

Hi everyone
FoOoa my experience was very painful. I had surgery on a Tuesday and went back to half days for a week on the following Monday. I have had 2 c sections and a hysterectomy and this was the worse surgery yet. I have to tell you though this is the best thing I have done. I LOVE my band. If you would have asked me 2 days after surgery I would not of answered the question but after about 4 days I was feeling alot better. I am so happy I have lost a total of 28 pounds. ( I have not updated my clicker) I can fit into things I have not worn in over a year!! Everyone is different though. There was a girl that had the surgery right before me in the hospital and only felt a little discomfort. As for my experience with it now I am sooooo happy I did this!! The pain I had was well worth it. Good luck!!

OMG, I want to CHEAT! Surgery on Tues.
Hang in there itsuptome. I know it must be really hard. I only had to not eat anything the day before surgery. I was on liquid for 24 hours prior & that was rough. I can't imagine for that many days. You have gone this far though and before you know it your day will be here!! Good luck!

3 days post-op & questions!
I hurt alot the first couple of weeks. Matter a fact the first week was the worst week after surgery that I have ever had. (I have had 2 c sections and a hysterectomy) I hurt really really bad. Everyone is different though. I did not dry heave but did have to stay in the hospital due to pain and weakness from anesthesia. (I really am not a baby either it just really was painful...have I said that enough??) Anyway, I never have had a problem keeping anything down & have only had a problem once with a pill that got stuck and came right back up. I never felt hungry until about 3 weeks after surgery & if I do feel hungry it takes very little to satisfy me. I think everyone is different so hang in there & if you feel the need to call your Dr. don't hesitate to do so. Even if only to be sure and to make you feel at ease.
