    Date before insurance approval

I was given a surgery date (March 8th!) during my initial consultation with the surgeon. In the case of my surgeon's office, I believe they have good relationships with several insurance companies and are pretty confident that you will be approved. My surgeon's support staff was very helpful and outlined exactly what I needed to do and the deadlines to give them all the required paperwork. After that they submitted everything to insurance and notified me when I was approved (which was on Tuesday!). Of course this is not an absolute because I have read on this forum that some people's surgery dates have been cancelled when insurance was not approved. I would ask your doctors office if they anticipate any issues/obstacles with approval. On the other hand, the surgeon that I visited before I chose my current surgeon did not give surgery dates prior to insurance approval. They explicitly said it was because they had dealt with several insurance denials in the past and wanted to be absolutely sure before scheduling dates. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Who set your goal weight?

I set my goal. My doctor tells me how much he expects me to lose before my next appointment. At my three month appointment he said I was where he expected me to be at six months, then he said lose thirty pounds before my six month appointment. Haha. I am not sure where he expects me to end up, but I am trying hard to meet his goals.

    Poo-Pourri

Morning Everyone! So I don't know about you but since my surgery my poop and gas smell worse than ever. Especially my poop. So while at Bed, Bath, & Beyond I decided to pick up a bottle of this as I had seen it advertised before and was curious but now really needed it to work. To my surprise it works perfect! So I thought it was worth recommending here especially for those of us who have spouses and family in the house Hope this helps someone!

    Food and travel

Well, for me it isn't noticing. I'm an event planner (among other things) and support about 160 people. I don't see most of these people more than once a year. Heck, I don't recognize most of them we see each other so infrequently! So they definitely wouldn't be the type to notice a change in my eating habits. I'm slowly telling friends about my decision, but I think I will refrain from coworkers unless asked directly. I'm coming around to the fact that this is a tool and just like using a crutch isn't shameful, getting this surgery isn't either. Unfortunately, I've had a few people with really unsupportive reactions. I'd rather not have to deal with that at work too!

    Trouble Sleeping?

I get restless every time I have to take tablets . My doctor doesn't allow me to take Gummy Vitamins (heard from a few friends that they look forward to eating their vitamins) . Please try Chamomile tea, it really soothes you.

    Who set your goal weight?

I looked at the smartbmi calculation. It was the only one that took body type into account. I'm just shy of 6-5 and on a larger frame so it said: 230. Seemed OK, I'll reassess as I get closer. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

    Who set your goal weight?

Maybe, the plateau is your body maintaining the calories you give it. Uping the calorie burn might get you to your goal and possible more food if healthy choices. Im uncertain because i am just beginning this journey but thats my 2 cents. Great job on the weight lost so far.dont give up

I had my first visit in September. Had 90 days of documented weigh ins. I had part of my colon removed in November, which through me off. I completed everything in January. It took CIGNA approximately one week to approve. Having bypass March 8th.
