I am as nervous as a cat about having my surgery tomorrow. The clear liquid diet I have been on for the last two days is killing me. Any hints about how to settle my nerves?

Just try to relax. Everything will be fine. I remember feeling like I was going through withdrawals on the liquid diet. I'm sure the lack of all the nutrients your body is used to consuming is making the nerves worse.

Have you ever had surgery before? What is making you the most nervous? It's perfectly natural to be nervous before any kind of surgical procedure. Just know you are not alone in that and you can do this! I remember almost chickening out the day of my surgery and just making myself go through with it. I am so glad I did! I have had two other surgeries since then. I honestly feel like it's a different kind of nerves to deal with when the surgery is an optional procedure. When you have to have surgery for absolute medical necessity, you just know you have to do it and get through it. Sort of like having a baby too! But when you choose to do it, it's just different. Anyway, it will be ok! Just try to relax...

I find journaling my feelings helps. I really love that this site has a blog section. Also a nice warm bubble bath. Pamper yourself alittle. I love to get pedicures. Don't know if you surgeon allows nail polish on during surgery but it is a great way to relax. I expect that it will be hard for me too because I won't be able to turn to comfort food to calm me down. Good luck to you.

After about two weeks when your fears have lessened and you are feeling better physically after surgery you'll be happy you did it ! Your lifestyle changes reasons will becomer clearer.

Thanks for the reassurance. I have had medically necessary surgery before. I guess I am just worried about complications. I have 5 kids. It worries me. I will be glad to be on the other side of the surgery. I have to report to the hosp. in about 14 hours.

I know, I totally understand that. Surgery by choice creates much more anxiety and fear, especially being a mom. It took me three years to decide I would do the surgery because I have children! The risk of complications is what scared me the most. I talked to my surgeon about that and he reassured me that the risk was very low.... Think about the positives of this surgery and how it will change the example you set for them! You will be okay. When you get to the hospital, express to them your nerves are haywire and that you need an IV 'margarita!'. STAT! I have had several surgeries and I have never had anything for my nerves in pre-op. I just had a lap band revisional surgery four weeks ago. the anesthesiologist gave me a shot of versed or what he called a "maragarita" in the pre-op waiting room. I was so looped up when my surgeon came that I did not care! You just need to be able to relax. Hang in there and let us know how you feel afterward!

I have 4 kids, so I can relate.

But guess what? Now I'm a thin mom with 4 kids...hip hip hooray!

Pre jitter nerves is all you've got. Get your stuff ready for hospital. Take a good shower or better yet a long soak in the tub after the kids go to sleep.< /strong>

I love the band and by this time tomorrow you'll be a fellow bandster too!

Good luck and much success on your journey!

Samantha :-)

Hi, well the surgery is over and I am home safe and sound. Now I am focusing on healing and getting the weightloss underway. I have lost 18 pounds already during the pre op diet.

I am having alot of pain in my muscles. My arms, legs, trunk, and stomach. I didn't expect this much pain or for it to be all over my body. I feel like I have been beaten up or something. Hopefully, I will get back in the saddle soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
