Hey everybody, I'm from Missouri too. I live a Braymer, MO and have already had my surgery. Just glad to see some people from Missouri. Braymer is not far from Liberty or St. Joe. Hope to hear from some of you. Pam

I have been to one seminar, and am pretty much decided on that doctor - Dr. Hoehn.

Chances are that my insurance will cover it 100%, even fills, but I don't know for sure yet. I have United Healthcare EPO and Dr. Hoehn's staff, as well as several people online, have told me that UHC is one of the top two ir three companies when it comes to covering WLS costs. I know they don't specifically exclude bariatric procedures."

Hello, I went to a seminar last week thru The Bariatric Center at Shawnee Msn. I have been trying to decide which Dr I want to do mine. Hoehn is one of the options. I also have UHC, who do you have it thru?? This all is scarey, but I feel if I dont do something I'm not gonna be around much longer. A doctor I had 20 yrs ago said, you dont see fat people in the nursing homes.....because they dont make it that long. I am right over the line in Ks.

I live in central Missouri now, about 50miles east of KC, but an a 'north Missouri' girl by birth! haha! I'm going w/ Dr. Jesse Lopez for my surgery and attended their seminar in KC, it was VERY interesting and they answered every question I had. (I had tons believe me!)

Maybe my nervousness will hit sooner or later, but I haven't had one minute that I've rethought about doing this since I made my decision. I'm ready to schedule the surgery date today! I wish you all the best of luck and would love to chat anytime with anyone.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
