Am I reading that your blood pressure went up after you drank orange juice? If so, you could have a problem with dehydration. Also, 102/54 is fairly low and you will feel the effects if you typically have a higher BP.

As for sugar, not sure but, the only way to find out is by having it checked out. I would certainly get in for a check up to see what the problem might be.

Did you experience any ringing in the ears or loud grinding sound just before you fainted? When I passed out a couple of weeks ago from dehydration this is what happened to me.

Either way, you should still get a doctor check up to be on the safe side. Doctor should check all your labs.

i heard a swooshing sound...almost like i put a shell up to my ear...i'm going to see my dr. at 3:30....she is actually my lap band surgeon's wife...they work out of the same office....the fainting scares me...especially when i have my son with me...

The sound is normal whatever causes you to faint. I have fainted many times in the past and generally it was preceeded by the strange noise.

I would be concerned about the BP as it does sound very low. "Normal" is approx 120/80.

Apart from low Bp or low blood sugar it could also be something like anaemia so get the Dr to check out your Iron levels as well. You could have some kind of mild infection which you are not aware of or it could be a ton of other things.

Glad you are seeing your Dr quickly. Let us know what the outcome is.

Low bp can be a sign of dehydration.. are you getting enough fluids?

I have fainted a few times due to dehydration. Its easy to do when you are busy, workout a lot, etc. I'm glad you got it figured out. Its scary when it happens, but at least it is a simple fix. I don't have my band yet, but I know its gonna take some adjustment w/how I drink Water and exercise. Right now I drink two 16 oz bottles of water while I am doing 1 hour of Jazzercise. Obviously, I'm not gonna be able to gulp it all down during the exercise after lapband. So, I'm gonna have to make an extra effort to get more water in before and after.

Glad to hear that you are okay! :( Be sure to keep drinking that Water. We can't having you fainting on us all the time.

Glad it was something relatively simple. How are they going to fix your low Iron levels. Do they want you to do it by eating more red meat or will you be getting injections? I had issues with my iron levels a number of years back and had to have a course of iron injections. Not fun but sometimes more effective than trying to fix it with diet.

I was talking to my trainer the other night (doing boot camp at the moment) and he expressed alarm at what I eat v the training I do. He said my metabolism must be shot for me not to be 40lb underweight.

I dont necessarily agree, I think that eating 1800 calories a day or so is quite normal for a lot of women but his point was how much exericse I do and he couldnt figure how I can sustain it on so few calories.

Truth is, I still get quite strong cravings for sugar and carbs - and its nothing more than the fact that I really ought to get Fluid out of my band and just eat more decent food in total. I am not managing to meet my calorie and nutrition needs on good health foods and need to resort to slider foods to get them in. So really, w whislt my band is not too tight, its probably too tight for where I'm at.

Could you say the same at all?

Its very very hard to come to terms with normal eating and not eating to lose weight. Its probably the hardest part of my personal journey. I'm way too afraid of gaining to have an unfill.

And of course, if we're not fuelling our activities, them dehydration, lack of Iron, general lack of nourishment can become a problem.

Also, that blood pressure sounds very low, that's not normal. it would be why you fainted, but the trick is to work out why it dropped that low.

Could you say the same at all? i can definitely say the same...honestly i don't think i even take in 1800 calories...i told my dr. yesterday i have ZERO appetitie...its not bcuz i'm trying to lose more weight...i have no interest in food...i basically force feed myself...bcuz i know i need the fuel to keep exercising...my dr. called me with my lab results...i have severe anemia (spelling)...my Iron is serverly low and my thyroid is a mess...she upp'd my thyroid med from 2500 to 5000...and told me i may lose weight...last night she told me not to lose anymore weight...i like this dr. bcuz she is my band surgeons wife and doesnt blame everything on the band like other doctors i've been too...its not the bands fault...its my own...my husband and i had a serious disscussion on how to balance all this out...i will NOT stop the exercise...i absolutely refuse...i will not get an un-fill...i'm scared to death of that idea...i will take in more calories...to be honest jachnut i dont think i take in over 1200 and i work off between 800-1000...i now see the damage im doing...light-headed...my hair looks like crap...weak...tired...i'm an inspiration to so many...yet im putting my health 2nd and my will to be thin 1st...i don't want to sound ignorant...just honest...i don't want to be fat ever again...i need to take control back again from my weight...and figure out how to take in more calories and stay healthy...i was thinking about getting my calories out of juices...i do not like sweets...and i have not totally cut carbs from my eating habits...i refuse to go all out and eat pure junk...i'm confused right now

You'll get there, it just takes some headwork. It is REALLY hard to learn to be a thin person - losing weight is the easy part. I am still afraid of food as something that could control me and I havent quite mastered the art and belief in myself that i can eat normally. That I dont need to be constantly avoiding food, resticting it etc.

I eat a big Breakfast and them I feel guilty - and like you I am force feeding myself food that I dont really want.

juices sound like a good idea and of course, Protein shakes. Much as I hate the things, they do offer good nutrition when you have limited stomach space. Remembering to eat something like a yogurt between meals.

I set out certain foods I know I need each day - two pieces of fruit, a yogurt and a small serve of nuts. I set them out in the morning and they MUST be eaten on top of what I choose for meals. I have to regiment it like this or I just graze all day as I dont like eating a full meal at any one time.

I'm actually looking forward to returning to full time work next year, teaching gives me a routine that must be followed and i eat a lot better than when I'm at home.

This just takes time, you can get your health back up there.

I know you don't want to cut back on your exercise, but please keep in mind that exercise lowers blood sugar. My daughter is a Type 1 diabetic and they highly encourage exercise for that simple fact. However, if you are already a little hypoglycemic all that added exercise may be pushing you over the edge. Try drinking a small juice box or sucking on some glucose tabs before exercise to give you a little boost. Exercise can lower your sugar up to 12 hours later. I know you are an avid exercise fan and I'd hate to see you have to give it up. Just be careful because low blood sugar (assuming that's what it is) can be very dangerous.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
