Recommended Posts

Okay I might be totally off base with this but, shortly after being banded (about a year ago) I have spotting between my periods every single month for a year now. This has never happened before, not really sure if it has anything to do with the band.Anyone else having this issue. its very annoying! any help would be appreciated! thanks

Same deal here! And my periods are MUCH heavier, like they used to be when I was a teenager. I just thought it was my age (I'm now 47) and that I was probably entering peri-menopause or something. But maybe there's something about the weight loss causing some hormonal issues of some kind. Maybe??? Still, interesting......

One possibility is that because fat stores hormones and when you put on weight it affects how your body processes hormones. When you lose fat your body has to metabolize whatever is in it, including hormones. That can cause your cycle to be messed up.

It's common. I had it start during my pre-op diet! Part of it is because you're losing weight quite quickly from an evolutionary viewpoint and it's your body's way of saying that it isn't really well equipped to carry a pregnancy right now as clearly there is a food shortage going on. This doesn't mean you can't get preggers though, so beware!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
