Where Do I Go From Here???

Recommended Posts

Ok. I've went to the seminar... Got lots of helpful info... and A LOT of papers... but I just want to know in plain terms, what do I do from here? Should I start scheduling appts. with my physician??... should I go get evaluated?? should i go get my blood work done?.. I already know I am going to have to go on a 6 month supervised diet n exercise plan :cool2:.... But i guess thats just 6months thats going to have to go by anyway. I hate to sound so clueless, but I really have no support or help from anyone... So thanks in advance!... I honestly appreciate it:smile2:

Also, I just found out I might have to pay out of pocket a couple of thousand... I just wanted to clear that up.. Has anyone had to take out a loan or pay out of pocket for the remaining cost of the surgery???

Well I would say talk to whoever your going to get the lapband through. I'm using TrueResults. They have someone that lays out the plan and walks you through the process to get to your surgery date. That includes helping with getting your appointments in order, insurance, etc.

Meet with the Lapband surgeon and his office will be happy to schedule some of the required stuff for you. The 6 months doesn't start until then, so give them a call soon.

Where are you located? You can get some great referals here.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
