One week down.....when did you go off of liquids?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 10/29/09 and I've been very good with the liquid diet. I am having trouble getting my Water in and I am working on that. However I tried mashed potatoes tonight and I had no problems. My doctor says I should do two weeks of liquids but I wonder if that's normal? I've heard it's different for everyone.

:thumbup:My doc has us on two days of Clear Liquids post op and then we move onto 3 TBS of pureed foods, avoiding certain ones of course. After a few weeks of that per meal, we move onto 1.5 to 2 oz of Protein, again avoiding red meats and other problem foods.

I am glad to know you didnt have any problems becase I may give in and do pureed Soups like Tomato or broc and chez in small amounts. So far Im not hungry except today I fixed hubby dinner and it smelled so good. before I wasnt even interested. Good luck!

I was on a 2 week liquid diet after my surgery, the first week was clear liquids. That was a long 2 weeks.

A friend of mine had to start her liquid diet 2 weeks pre-op and then 2 weeks post op, she is just now going to the mushie stage.

I would avoid broccoli....That's one of the vegetables that we have to work in later. We don't do fruits or vegetables for several weeks. Right now it's 3TBS of pureed Protein, avoiding red meat. We can have cottage cheese and eggs, which don't have to be pureed. After two weeks of this, we move onto soft mushies....but no baby food because that has too much sugar. I start the soft mushies the week of Thanksgiving....and it says no beef, no processed meats and yes for protein for eggs, fish and cheese....That's 1.5 to two oz.

Czarina : It sounds like we're on the same plan. Two days clear liquids, full liquids for rest of week, then one week of mushies, then soft foods leading into regular foods. I was worried too that no one else seemed to be on that same type of plan. I know someone who was banded by my doctor several years ago, and she has had no problems whatsover, so I think it's probably fine.

I'm in week three, and haven't had any problems. Am eating a lot of different foods within reason, and am practicing chewing, chewing, chewing!

I was banded on Weds, Nov 4. I am on liquids for two weeks then mushies. However, my liquids says I can have applesauce and pureed cream based Soups. I pureed chicken and dumplings from a can and I mixed chicken broth to make it more liquidy. I haven't had any problems other than taking my medications and because I am on so many it takes a long time to get them down.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
