The Big No-No's

Recommended Posts

O.k... I want to know what everyone can not eat now (healthier foods) that you were completely able to eat before being banded but can't now, even if on your approved foods list.

I had japaneese last night (mom's b-day) and I was sooooo nausious 3 bites into it that I opted for the salad because I was so sick from it- immediatly.

Broccoli hates me, Steak hates me (no matter how tender) deli meats, Sausage (whether veggie or turkey) and carrots.

Broccoli and chicken (unless it is totally super moist and cut very tiny). And I just came to that conclusion last night, after I ate both of those and I ended up violently ill. :)

Oh, and scrambled eggs. :D

I have not found one thing I cannot eat. I have never felt sick at all.

I am not so sure this is a good thing.

I have a hard time with sausage, any pork, and roast. No matter how tender or if there's a sauce added. Other than that the only thing I have problems with is any meat that has been reheated.

I have a really hard time with apples, carrots, a lot of bread and any type of thin noodle. I miss apples the most....love love them . I don't get sick I just can't get them down.

JillyPoo, have you tried baked apples? My friend cores them but leaves them whole, then stuffs the hollow part with nuts, raisins, a little brown sugar (could use Splenda brown sugar) and bakes them on a cookie sheet until they are fork-soft. They are delicious! A wonderful fall treat.

I eat a lot more applesauce nowadays than I used to. There are so many good flavored, no-sugar applesauces out there now. My favorite is blueberry.

SpideyMom~ thank you so much for the yummy yummy apple treat. I think I will get some apples at the store today and try it. Applesauce goes down funny too... maybe because it is so thick? Thanks again!! Have a great day

I hope you can eat them, Jill! They are so good when you break them open and that brown sugar -- oh, and cinnamon -- concoction oozes out. YUM.

mmmm, my mouth is watering...I'm going to give those apples a try. I don't have a problem with the apple itself, just the peel. I have a difficult time with meat too, even deli meat, but I usually do okay with canned meat.

Any kind of cooked or canned fruit, or fruit puree is really hard for me, I can only eat a very little. Fresh fruit is hard too, but I do still eat it daily.

there's nothing I really *cant* eat but many things I have to make myself eat - like fruit and salads because they are healthy that are much harder to eat.

I never get nauseous from things though, just blocked.

I avoid things like reheated leftover meat too - we had a leg of pork the other night with guests, there was loads left but I threw it out becuase I knew I'd never get it down.

I make my baked apples with Oats... Oats brownsugar, Cinnemon, some vanil. extract, rasins and chopped walnuts and melted butter (or marg.) to keep the mix together... and then spoon full the melted remnents over the apples when their done.

I found over the summer, melon was really hard to keep down (honeydew) Corn doesn't sit so hot with me either.

The band has changed several things for me. Some things do taste different, things that do not appeal to me will not go down and meats have to be moist. I also have a strange new thing with sense of smell. Some seasons that I injest linger within my nasal cavaties...until mid-morning the next day. I still eat too fast and pay a severe penalty for that! But, it's all working the right way.

I miss rice the most- white or brown, I can't eat rice at all! I love apples, but as mentioned above by someone else, I can still eat apples, but only if I peel them!

Even though my dr said I can eat corn tortillas, they don't always work out so well either. In order to eat them it requires way too much chewing, so I opt not to have them anymore.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
