Hello all, just wondering because I haven't thought of this question before and haven't really read anything on it....

What's the longest you've gone on one fill? As in, how many months, years did you go before you stopped losing decent, consistent weight and needed another fill? (It's been awhile since my last fill and not quite sure if I should get another)

I've had my band for 5 1/2 months, and just skipped a fill for the first time. I have 6.5 cc's in a 10 cc band, and feel adequate restriction at this point. With my physician, I'm up for a fill every 6 weeks. I'm thinking I may get a small (.25 or .5) fill next time, but if I'm still feeling like I do now, then I may not. I hope others post who have had the band for more than a year, or who have reached goal. I wonder if you ever need adjustments after reaching goal?

Well I'm between 30-40 lbs from my goal weight. I'm currently down about 95 lbs down right now. I once went 7 months without a fill...didn't lose for the first 5 months of that and then dropped like 20 lbs:D And that 7 months without a fill was only because I live up in north dakota and so that was winter lol, meaning I am 200miles from my doc and the roads suck. So who knows but I'm currently at 8cc in a 10cc band, at pretty good restriction and try telling my docs that they can do a .25 cc or .5 cc fill...ha! Yeah they are more bypass-ish people.

I had a fill at four weeks, which was way too early for me. I had to have a complete unfill and now it will be at least December for a tiny fill if any. That would be six months from surgery and five month from the first fill. Going slowwwwwly this time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
