First fill and problems???

Recommended Posts

OK, so hopefully someone here can let me know if this is a problem or something that will go away.

I just had my first fill Wed. of 2cc's (which seems like very little compared to what I was reading on here). My surgery was about 5 weeks ago.

I have been having problems iwth the liquids, soft foods, and now regular stuff today. I can barely eat anything (that is the point though!) but stuff I do eat feels like it gets stuck in my chest. Even drinking stuff feels like its in my chest for a couple minutes. I have thrown up very little a couple times and feel like I have heartburn or something when I lie down which is only relieved by the constant burping!!!

So, I am just wondering if this means it's too tight, or if this is normal and goes away in a couple days or something? Before I got the fill, I was able to eat a lot, had no restriction, so I find it kinda hard to believe that only 2cc's would cause all these problems?

Thanks guys for any help I really need it

Sounds like you might be too tight.

Any fill of any amount can do this. I'm down to .25cc making the difference between "just right" and "too tight."

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
