I see a lot of people from down in the cities - anyone else here from "up north?"

I was banded 8/31/09 and it's going great. I get my 2nd fill tomorrow - have lost 22 lbs since surgery and hoping for a whole lot more! Where are you? I grew up in Grand Rapids

We live west of Morris (or Alexandria). We farm south of Alberta, MN.

You're doing well with your weight loss. Carefull with the fills. Go slow. Maybe you have a conservative doc and you don't have to worry about it. I have only had two fills. I don't mind being a little hungry and want to be able to eat certain foods without getting stuck. It works for me!

Stay in contact. PM me if you want. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I would think of you as being in southern MN! haha! Anyway, got my fill today. It's really kind of a creepy thing isn't it. I'm so impressed that you lost so much weight with only 2 fills - you must be really determined!

Yep, getting a fill is a different sensation. I didn't really mind. The only side affect I had with my first fill was that my stomach was a little stiff and tender the next day. Didn't take much for him to access it...think it was just because it was about six weeks after surgery. Second fill I felt nothing as far as any pain.

I just feel fortunate to have some restriction with the two fills. Like I said b/4, I like to be able to eat most things without getting stuck.

Thanks for the compliment on the weightloss. I feel that I have been very lucky throughout this entire process. No complications to speak of and wish the same for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
