Help! getting sick, Surgery Oct23 next Fri!!

Recommended Posts

Help, Im getting a sore throat and I'm sch. for surgery October 23 next Friday. I've been taking sinus meds for throat drainage but I guess its not going to help. I feel like its allergy related if that makes sense. I've waited sooo long for My Day!! I can't hardly stand the thought of it getting postponed any longer.:scared2: Can anyone give me advice on what I should try????

Speak to your Dr - maybe he can prescribe something. Hopefully it is allergy related and can easily be resolved. If it does turn out to be something else then it may be better to postpone. I know it would be dissappointing but you don't want to have surgery if you are not well - too risky and it will also impede your recovery.

Good luck - keeping my fingers crossed.

Definitely call your surgeon's office. There's a lot of time between now and next Friday. Maybe you can be well on the mend before then!

OMG I was just going to post the same thing! I am scheduled for next Wednesday the 21st and not only is my throat getting sore, my son was just diagnosed with strep throat! I called the surgeon, my primary, twice each and begged for antibiotics and finally my primary called a z-pak in for me. I'll be damned if I miss my surgery after I waited this long LOL. I am just waiting for the surgeon to call back to let me know that it's actually okay to take them before surgery.....

I hope you feel better!!!!!

Thank You for all the words of advice. I appreciate them. Well I've been using the nettie pot for sinus cleanse and some flonase. Proud to say feeling much much better and ready for surgery.:cursing:

Juliansmom2003 - Hope your surgery is a great success and congrats on your new life. I will join you on Friday. I go oct 21 for hospital pre-op. I nervous, excited, scared and all the above but, I know that it is all worth it in the end. Good Luck! Please keep us posted on how your doing.

My son just got the flu... They didnt test him for H1N1 because they said it was the same prognosis for both. Take tamiflu and rest. Now I am wondering if they should have given me some Tamiflu too as a preventative. My surgery is Thursday. I am not sick at all. Just scared I am going to get sick and will have to postpone my surgery.... Ughh.... I am so scared. Pray for me please~!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
