OMG my BMI is HIGH!

Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone. At least I am normal (for a bandster). I did get back on my diet today. Carbs make me truly ill, and I should know better. Guess that the 46.4 will just look all the better when I put a lower number beside it, like you ladies have. Your words have really given me hope. Now to be approved. Please pray for me there too. I would like to have it done for Christmas/New Years, but that may be pushing it.

You can truly do it! insurence or not! I hope for your sake insurence will cover it! I will pray for you and your weight loss! good luck, let me no what I, can do for help!

It can take a while for your insurence to cover it ,so maybe you could start small walks and start a weight loss program monitored, good luck...JohnQ

My BMI was 60.14 when I started this journey. Now it is 42.1

Even when I get to my goal weight I will have a BMI over 30 so I guess BMI leaves a lot to be desired when working out our goals. I don't think it takes into consideration our age, body frame and gender which are all important factors. However in saying that...I am certainly glad mine is now 18 less than it was!

I have been going to the gym for the past few years. Swimming mostly, but when my back starts to hurt badly I stop going for a while. My printout of logins shows an everyother day log in spirt with a month long absence. But I have gone on Sunday and tonight to workout on the treadmill. That will keep a log too. I want to show my three times a week to the insurance so they know I am trying.

My chiropractor has written a note stating that I can not do high impact exercises and has documented my history of back pain, so I am hoping that will help too.

I have moved all of my pre-surgery tests. sleep study on 10/21 and other tests on 10/26 (psych, stress test, and nutritionist) so maybe we can get this ball rolling more quickly.

I still need lots of prayers! I would love to get the band as my Christmas present to myself! I can only hope BC/BS will agree quickly!

Thanks for all of the support!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
