Just remember that the bypass is NOT reversible, you have to take B-12 injections forever, and most people gained their weight back within 3-5 years. Also, you lose so fast that your skin cannot keep up and it becomes very saggy and dry. The wrinkles are incredable. You also need to ask about receiving cancer treatments (chemo) if you should develop cancer (God forbid). My friend was unable to get chemo b/c of bypass. Don't know if it was her doctor in New Orleans or her condition. It never hurts to ask first.

It's best to think long & hard about a most complex step. This surgery is going to re-arrange your body parts inside, recovery is longer for some people. Please please think and pray before you do anything.

You may have only lost 25 pounds but you didn't gain that much or more. Maybe your exercise & food intake are too even. You have to burn up more than you take in to lose weight no matter what.

Lap-band is as far as I'll ever go - If it doesn't work out, then so be it. I'd rather be over-weight than have something so drastic done to my body. Lap-band was drastic enough for me.

It is possible that even though you are only eating small meals you may be eating the wrong foods. If the small meal is high in fat/calories then you won't lose. I think you should go back to your surgeons team and see what they advise.

Maybe the Nut can look at what you are eating and give you some advice. Maybe you are too tight and eating high cal slider foods.

The best thing to do is try and find out why you are not losing before you go through more surgery. It may turn out that the lapband isn't working for you and you may need a bypass. But you should only consider that oce you have got to the bottom of the problem

Have you talked to your doctor about having the band removed? I'm worried about health issues and am considering removing the band after I loose 25 - 30 pounds.

On subject of right foods my very skinny daughter brought home Hostess muffin yesterday not even very big, I looked on back it had 650 calories , 81 grams carbs, 450 sodium and a large amount of fat. Was pretty shocking

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
